Idita can clear a Coastal Path

Trainer Gavin Smith continues to be in good form and he could have another cracking Friday at Fairview on the Polytrack.

Idita was a classy two-year-old who could train on to be a better three-year-old now that she has stepped up in distance.

The Visionaire filly won well on debut then ran some promising races behind Eastern Cape Champion Two-Year-Old filly Lunar Halo and that form has been well franked with Golden Sickle winning numerous times up in Gauteng.

Returning from a break and making her first run as a three-year-old, there was a lot to like about her performance.

Idita was caught late by stable companion Easy Living, but it was Idita who made nearly all the running that day and she was collared on the post.

She probably did too much too soon on that occasion and will strip fitter this time. If given a more patient ride this time she could prove a bit better than her rivals in Race 6, the Racehorse Owners Association Fillies Guineas Plate over 1400m.

Rival trainer Alan Greeff has had a frustrating time with his charge, Coastal Path, so he must have been pleased when Coastal Path got up to score last Friday. With the confidence of that win he could follow up in Race 8, a MR 68 Handicap over 1200m.

The Global View gelding was closer to the pace on the turf on Friday so will still have to prove himself as good on the Polytrack.

Jockey Richard Fourie was outstanding on him when he won and can do the job again.

A runner on this card who caught the eye in his previous start is battling five-year-old maiden Big Five.

He turned into the straight well back and flew at the finish to be third. He has done that type of run before and has yet to win a race but he is likely to be running on strongly again and is worth a maximum place bet.
