South Africa Racing – The day should finally dawn

Frustration must have set in for trainer Dean Kannemeyer with his filly Dawnofanewday. She is way overdue a second win but never quite gets there. She lines up on the poly track in the seventh at Hollywoodbets Greyville on Wednesday and if she can’t get it right this time, there will be a few of her supports out of pocket once again. She has done well on the poly and looks to be in the right race with only stable companion Winter’s Destiny, who is way better than her last effort, a likely threat. She goes very well over course and distance and could and could possibly upset. The diminutive Bell Jar is as game as she is small and loves the poly. She ran a cracker at long odds last start and is a strong money chance. You Deserve It has her first run for Gary Rich who has done wonders with other stable’s ‘chuck-outs’. She had modest Highveld form but her last win came on the poly but this might be a bit short and she could need the outing.

The Hollywood Syndicate is a big player having notched a milestone 100 winners last season. Peter Muscutt is one of their premier trainers and the tongue-twisting Imilenzeyokududuma can add to an already growing tally. Imilenzeyokududuma is lightly raced and has plenty of scope for further improvement. He takes to the poly for the first time and also steps up in trip but ran a cracker from a wide draw last outing and appears to be one of the better bets on the card ahead of Dawnofanewday.

Should Imilenzeyokududuma fail veteran Lucky Dancer could pick up the pieces. He has come on at his last two, showing signs of his best form, and with a 4kg claimer up could upset. Sean Tarry has stayed behind after the close of Champions Season with many of his lessor lights vying for the inflated stakes that are due to drop at the end of this month.

He saddles Immeasurable who got going just too late when touched off in his poly debut. He does meet stronger here but has the benefit of a 1.5kg claimer. Super Silver is lightly raced and makes his poly debut. His best form has been over further but he has also run well to stronger. Not out of it.

In the card opener, Forged In Ice does not have the best of draws but does have the best form. She goes very well on the poly and with a 1.5kg allowance she could prove hard to beat. Namibsroos has drawn alongside and could be a threat. She has had two outings for her new stable and the extra should suit.

The second is a tricky maiden. Without Question was a beaten favourite last run when well supported in the betting. He makes his poly debut but should much prefer this trip. There should not be much between Rock Fall and Raven’s Sword. Raven’s Sword looks held on his last effort by Rock Fall but the shorter trip could be in his favour and he can turn the tables while Rock Fall is having his second run for his new stable and making his poly debut has improved with each outing.

Only six runners contest the third but it’s not straight forward. Danilo Danilovitch was not far back in a feature last start. The drop in trip and the extra furlong could see him home ahead of Giacomo Puccini who has been in good form on the turf and loves this trip and is seldom out of the money. The filly Lady Catherine seems best over shorter but has a handy weight and can make it difficult for the more fancied pair.

The fourth is another difficult contest. Our Emily garnered a reputation early but has not lived up to expectations. However, she has been dropping in the handicap and is showing signs of her best. She has a handy weight here and should make a race of it. Corner Crusade is not the easiest at the gate but shows plenty of pace once loaded. She goes well this course and distance.

Shell Seeker could put them all in the shade. She makes her poly debut and Mark Dixon’s filly was a smashing winner on debut. She had a long break after that but found market support last run and the switch to the poly could bring out the best in her.

The fifth is another difficult handicap. Runaway Song has yet to finish out of the money and has been climbing steadily in the handicap. He goes well this course and distance and with a handy weight he has plenty in his favour. Baby Shooz has been handicapped by a physical issue but switches to the poly. He has been taking on stronger of late and looks to have a bright chance in this line-up. Stable companion Blackwhitedynamite has a comfortable weight and has stable regular on board. Last two wins have been on the poly. Captain Who is seldom far back and steps up in trip. He has a handy weight and is not out of it.

The last is not an easy handicap. Living Waters goes very well over course and distance and has been in good form of late and comes from a stable that pops them up. High Green has come good since changing stables and with a 4kg claimer up he must have a chance over a preferred course and distance. There should be very little between High Green, Lord Minver, and Bend The Rules who all met last time out. It is a case of take your pick.
