South Africa Racing – In-form pair to strike again

Trainer Candice Bass-Robinson and stable jockey Aldo Domeyer dominated the last Western Cape meeting and look likely to do so again at the next when racing returns to Kenilworth on Monday 4 July.

Domeyer rode four winners for the yard on the eight-race card at Durbanville last Wednesday, while Bass-Robinson enjoyed five of her own.

And their hot streak should continue with a Domeyer treble that includes a stable double for his boss at the Cape Town meet.

Masterful Guy could belatedly shed his maiden tag under Domeyer in Race 4, a Maiden Plate over 1400m, after narrowly missing out at his last start when reverting to this distance.

Greg Ennion’s charge will be having his 14th bite at the cherry and concedes weight to less-exposed younger rivals, but his experience should stand him in good stead.

Consistent Nippy Winter shoulders a hefty 62kg in Race 7, a MR 78 Handicap for fillies and mares, but a plum No 1 draw over 1200m should aid her cause.

She finished a staying-on third in a stronger race over 1100m in her last start and races off the same mark eased in grade.

Domeyer has ridden the daughter of What A Winter to all three of her career successes and is likely to add to that tally for Bass-Robinson.

Vercingetorix gelding On The Road ought to provide the combination with another success in Race 8, a Classified Stakes over 1400m,  having rediscovered his form in recent starts.
