Punters get the luxury of having a couple of days to study the form of the runners as in most cases the fields come out on Monday afternoon for the Friday Fairview meeting.
Most times the punters need that time as the racing at this centre is difficult and particularly when it comes to the Fairview Polytrack.
There are always winners to be found and hopefully Emily’s Spirit will get punters off to the best possible start.
This Rafeef filly has been runner-up in four of her five starts with her one bad run being behind classy Chere For Me.
Probably her best run was over the course and distance of Race 1 back when second behind Easy Living at the end of April.
Emily’s Spirit followed that up with a decent run last time behind Rainbow Thief as that form has already been franked with Alan Greeff’s stable companion, Double Destiny, a decent winner last week.
Trainer Greeff needs a good meeting or three to catch rival Gavin Smith for the Eastern Cape trainers’ title as the line is coming closer and closer and in Race 2 Wildest Dreams could also be ready finally crack the ice.
This Dynasty filly was expected to get her maiden tag out the way earlier this season but disappointed her followers more than once. But she is in good heart and could be ready to strike.
Smith has challenged punters in Race 3 as two of his recent bookmakers’ favourite runners, Trumps Express and Joe Harman, look likely to fight out the finish.
Both have consistently put smiles on the faces of the bookmakers as they continue to get beaten at short odds.
Trumps Express steps up in distance on Friday and should like it.
Joe Harman, in contrast, drops in trip and may prove the better of the two but it will be an entertaining contest.
