Ka Ying Rising, the world’s highest-rated horse, will contest a vital barrier trial at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday (6 October) in preparation for the AU$20 million (approx. HK$108.9 million) G1 The Everest (1200m) on 17 October.
Ka Ying Rising is due to face four potential The Everest rivals – Joliestar, Angel Capital, Ninja and Headwall – in the 1000m barrier trial, while G1 King Charles III Stakes (1609m) contenders Amazing Journey and Apocalyptic have also been nominated.
Nine-time Hong Kong Champion Jockey Zac Purton has travelled to Australia to partner Ka Ying Rising in the barrier trial, while trainer David Hayes will also be at Randwick to oversee the hit-out.
Ka Ying Rising last season finished third in the corresponding barrier trial before becoming the first overseas horse to win The Everest, the world’s most lucrative turf race.
If successful on 17 October, Ka Ying Rising will extend his Hong Kong record winning streak to 22 races and claim a 10th Group 1 title, matching the haul of Golden Sixty.
The barrier trial is scheduled to start at 9am (6am Hong Kong Time) and will be broadcast live on the Club’s online platforms, including HKJC Racing Facebook page, HKJC Racing Sports Facebook page, @HKJC_Racing on X, and the HKJC Entertainment Facebook page.
