The opener is tricky, but Mist In Maryland can go one better after being touched off on her poly debut. She has another favourable draw. Forthegoodtimes finished ahead of her on turf when a hot favourite, but Mist In Maryland now has poly experience. Pacific Mood makes her poly debut after a break and could improve after competing in feature company, while Cartel Queen has shown her best recent form on the poly but has to handle the extra furlong.
Big Dipper caught the eye on debut, running on well from a wide draw in soft ground. He again has a poor draw but looks progressive. Run George Run has weak turf form, although his one good effort over this course and distance came behind a subsequent winner. Dee Day showed improvement last time and has a money chance, while Ka Chow was not far back last run and again carries a light weight.
The first Pick 6 leg is wide open. Navajo Dancer is overdue for a win but has been competitive recently and is at his best on the poly. Kaapse Klose thrives on the surface and was a smart third on turf last time. The favourable draw is another plus. Master Silvano has consistent poly form and was narrowly beaten by Victor Rail; he is now 1.5kg better off.
Queen Of Denmark takes on males but has finished close-up twice recently and goes well on the poly. She has a handy weight and faces moderate opposition. Grand Tour made a fair debut at long odds and should improve, with his in-form stable another positive. All About Me attracted support last time and, being lightly raced with a low weight, deserves respect. Wisdom Seeker made a fair debut in a strong maiden and can improve considerably.
Crimson Flame attracted support and narrowly failed on debut. That run should bring improvement. Taranaki Nomad is better off at the weights with Scott’s Bar, while the extra furlong may suit the New Zealand-bred. Sutter’s Mill makes his first start for Kom Naidoo, whose stable is in form, and can improve on his Highveld efforts.
Dancing On A Cloud can solve the sixth race. He won his last poly start and has a claiming apprentice aboard. I Am Classy has improved with cheekpieces, while National Dream drops in class with a top rider. Princess Palace has dropped three pounds and attracted betting support last time.
Day Two is lightly raced and consistently competitive. No Pressure won over this course and distance last time and can overcome a five-point rating rise. Red Cardinal is 1.5kg better off but must reverse two lengths. Gardener’s Pride could control the pace with his handy weight.
Twocantango has been close-up twice since returning from a long break and should enjoy the trip. Heaven’s Will is dropping in the handicap and steps up over a suitable distance. Green Mile is a poly specialist who won last time and has only a three-pound rise. The Wolf is holding form and can be involved despite stronger opposition.
