Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1400M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens and it is hard to go past (1) ECO BOLT. He was sent off as the longest but one shot on the board on debut over 1200M on July 19th but made a mockery of that with an on-pace 2nd, beating three of today’s rivals in the process. He will be much shorter today. (3) TONGKWAEHANSEUNGJA didn’t do much on debut but was a much-improved 2nd at start two over 1000M on August 8th when settling midfield and running on. Third-up he can be nice and match-fit, and the step up in trip can suit. (6) MYEONG POWERFUL also beat a couple of these on his debut at 1000M on July 26th, ultimately running 4th. He should have come on for the run and can get closer today. (5) LEGEND MONSTER and (8) GOLD X, the latter a good 4th behind the excellent looking Clutch Derby on debut, are others in the frame.

Seoul Race 2: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
It took (1) BEOLGYO SIGNATURE a few trials to make it to the races, but when he finally did, he ran a fair 4th of eleven over this distance on July 19th, settling midfield and running on decently enough. He should have come on for that run and has every chance in this company. (10) JEJU PRINCESS picked up significantly when 4th over 1400M on July 11th. Luis has ridden her to her best results and he stays aboard today. (5) DYNAMIC FORCE got sent back to trial after his latest and came through it without offering too many clues. He does have a 2nd place on his resume and that is enough to have him going close here. (11) GOLDEN WARRIOR hasn’t quite managed to kick on since a 3rd place four starts back but hasn’t been far away and can be given another chance today. (7) CHRYSOL POSH another who is better than her latest couple suggest.

(5) GLOBAL PRINCE was an also-ran in the Korean Derby in May and was then a beaten favourite on his return to shallower waters on June 14th when he got himself a warning for laying out. Before the Derby he was a winner at this class and distance, and he can return to winning ways here. (3) DUDUNG was a smart winner at this class over a mile on July 17th. He comes up 3.5kg in weight as well as up to two-turns for the first time, but neither should be a problem, and he can be a big danger. The vastly experienced (4) EUNSEONG YEONGUNG comes in off back-to-back 3rd places at this class and distance, and this is the kind of race where he can be there or thereabouts again. (2) OASIS ADELE is up in class following a maiden score over 1400M on July 26th. He carries a light weight and has already placed over this trip. (8) NEVERSTOP HEEMANG is the other main place chance.

(9) LUCKY JOY is probably the one to beat here. His win came over 1700M and he ran 2nd on his only previous try at this distance, which was also his first go at this level in April. He has been a front running 5th and 4th in two starts since then, beating a couple of today’s rivals in the process, and he won’t need to find much more to see off this field. (2) CLUB MAN comes up in class following a maiden win over 1700M on August 9th when handy throughout. That’s the distance his best results have come at so there is no reason why he can’t handle an additional half furlong, and down in weight and nicely draw, he can more than measure up. (1) KARA K is yet to score in fourteen attempts but has found the minor money on plenty of occasions and enters having run 5th to Lucky Joy’s 4th on July 26th. She’ll be close again. (7) CHOEGO BELT and (10) CHRYSOL STEP other place chances.

Busan Race 2: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens with four of the eleven racing for the first time. One of those newcomers is (2) VICTORY CHAMP, and he will be the favourite. The Old Fashioned colt led for much of the way in his trial, ultimately crossing the line a close 2nd in a quick time. Drawn well, if he brings that form to the races, he’ll be hard to beat. (8) DAESEONG SKY was also 2nd in his trial. The time wasn’t as quick, but it was very solid having raced handy throughout, and Seo Seung-un aboard means he will have plenty of first-up supporters. Of the experienced ones, (6) DANALDA was a close 3rd on debut (close to the 2nd placegetter, anyway) over 1200M on July 17th. (3) HIT THE RUNNING and (10) MR. SUNSHINE were 4th and 5th in the same race and both also showed enough to suggest they can improve.

Fillies and mares only. (10) DAEBI MAMA was well back when having a shy at the Gyeonggi Governor’s Cup (Triple Tiara final leg) over 2000M in June. It didn’t do her any harm though as she returned to more agreeable company to get her maiden win over 1400M on July 18th when she led all the way. She is up in class and has the challenge of the widest gate, but she can win again. (8) HAKSAN WINNER broke through two starts back leading all the way and then ran a solid 4th on her first try at this class and distance on June 28th. She’ll be on pace too and she has very chance. (7) LUCKY DAY has a 3rd and a 4th from her latest two, both at this class and both time from off the pace and she can be challenging late. (2) COWBOY SOCKS and (1) SEONGSIL WINNER are the other main chances.

Busan Race 3: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Maiden fillies with four of the eleven racing for the first time and it may just well have been worth the wait for (11) INFINITE WINNER. She trialed first all the way back this time last year behind Daeseong Gold, who has gone on to win plenty and then again in April. She didn’t make it to the races either time but qualified again by winning a heat in a quick time just a week ago. So long as she didn’t leave her race there, she can win first-up. If you prefer experience, (9) RUBY GONGJU is the one. She’s made steady progress across three outings so far, culminating in 4th place over 1200M on July 26th, beating two of today’s rivals. She can continue to get closer today. (1) BLUE TREE was a trial winner on July 16th, showing on pace throughout and can be interesting first-up while (8) WORLD VICS CAT was less impressive in her heat but didn’t do much wrong. As for the rest of the experience, (5) GLADY MORE was the only one to hint at much on debut.

(6) STUNNING SKET remains a maiden but is up in class following a 2nd and two 3rd places from three outings to date at 1200M and 1300M. He has been doing his best work late and under a light weight and up in trip, he can make the breakthrough here at what should be at least an each-way price. (7) BEST JOY got his maiden win over this trip in May and comes in having run 2nd at this class on July 26th, coming from off the pace. He carries his fair share of weight but will have plenty of backers. (11) LAVITA stepped up to this trip and broke through at start number six on July 25th. She is up in class but down in weight and she can be competitive in this company. (2) BEST FREEDOM and (4) LOVERMAN are others firmly in the hunt in a race of plenty of chances.

Busan Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
Fillies (and one mare) here. It is not wise to place too much confidence in a twenty-six-race maiden, but (3) GLOBAL HEROINE has placed on seven occasions and has sixteen top five finishes. She beat two of these in a very similar race at this class and distance on August 14th, coming from well back, and down 2kg in weight and with Franco staying on, it’s hard not to have her on top. Should she find at least one too quick again, it might be (4) TAEYANGUIYEOLJEONG. She’s a non-winner too, although in her case from only nine starts so far. She was 3rd to Global Heroine’s 2nd in April and since has two 4th places. She gets a long way back in her races, but if she is in touch in the home straight, she could win. (2) BACK TO THE DREAM does have winning experience and while she has put in two below-par efforts in her latest outings, Seo Seung-un is on for the first time and she can be given a chance in this company. (5) JJAK SARANG and (1) DOCTOR MATTERS are the others to consider in a race that probably won’t produce any Queens’ Tour champions.

(9) PASA SPARK won back-to-back races at 1800M and 1700M in May and June, the latter at this class, before running 2nd on July 26th. She got a long way back that day, as she tends to do, and she is up in weight, but this looks winnable. It’s winnable too for (7) MUJEOK HAMDAE. He returned from four months out to win at this class and distance on August 9th, settling midfield and running on. He has thrived at two-turns and while he is up 3kg in weight, he can strip fitter for that run three weeks ago, and he has every chance. (8) PURPLE SHINHWA was a big price winner over this distance on August 8th and while he is up in class, there isn’t much early speed in this race, so he could get to the lead and be in this a long way. (5) THE EXCELLENT and (1) FIVE STAR others in the hunt.

(8) KING BLACK got his maiden win over this distance in May and has since run 5th and 2nd in two tries at this level, most recently over 1400M on July 26th. Franco climbs on for the first time, and he looks the one to beat here. (5) MAGIC SHOW is yet to win in thirteen attempts, but he has ten top four finishes and comes in having been runner-up in each of his last four outings, most recently at this class on his first try at this distance on July 24th. He may find one too quick again, but he will surely be there or thereabouts. (6) BORYEONG THE QUEEN is up in class after an emphatic maiden win over 1400M on July 12th and while she comes up in trip too, the manner of that victory suggests that there can be more to come. (2) DORAON SAMSON and (10) CHOEGANG LOUIS among plenty of others with chances.

(10) JD GANGJA has had an interrupted career so far to the extent that he as only raced three times this year. He as a 3rd and a 2nd from two tries at this class, at 1400M and a mile and both times e got sent back to trial for laying out. He didn’t offer too many clues in his trial earlier this month but the step up to two turns may be what he needs, and he evidently has plenty of quality. (6) HYEUKMUSANG comes in having won both his latest two, most recently at this class and distance on July 25th when handy throughout. He is up 3kg in weight but is not to be dismissed. (8) FLYING HONOR was 2nd in that July 25th race, just half a length in arrears. He gets a weight swing today and can continue the very consistent start he has made to his career. He has been in and out of work since then but has been back full time since August 8th and he can be a first up winner on his first try at 1800M. (3) AIR CITY ran 3rd behind Beolgyo Masulsa and Nice Buddy in a valuable Trophy race in April and has since run 3rd and 2nd at class 4 level with all three of those outings over a mile. He steps up in class as well as up to 1800M for the first time, but he is down a full 5kg in weight which should bring him firmly into contention. He should lead again here and so long as he doesn’t use up all his petrol too early again, he can win. (2) GHOST CHRYSOL has won just the once in fifteen starts but he has no fewer than seven runner-up finishes, including his latest two, both at this class and distance. He can settle behind the speed and challenge late here. (7) BREEDO CALEY is up in class following a good win over 1400M on June 27th. He comes up in class here but the manner of that emphatic score suggests there can be more to come, and he is the one they will need to beat. (5) TWIN RAINBOW has been a real form-mixer of late, but she comes up in class after a strong win over a mile on June 26th. She has won over this distance too and she should be on pace again, it is just a question of which version of her shows up. (9) DRAGON NINJA beat Geuma Adept when the pair came home 1st and 2nd over this distance at class 3 level in June, when giving his rival a full 5kg. He arrives having run 3rd in Listed company in February and has since picked up a 2nd and two 3rd place finishes, most recently when beating a couple of today’s rivals over 1200M on August 9th. Three of his wins have come at this distance and down significantly in weight in today’s handicap, he can make it four. (11) VICS GO beat Ziggurat in March when giving him 1.5kg. He has held his form since and while today he has the significant steadier of 59kg, he can be a danger late on. The wildcard is (6) SUPER FINISH. He placed in the Korea Sprint last year but races for the first time since finishing down the field over 1200M in March. He has been back in work since late July and looked very well when winning a trial on August 13th. (4) I’M JJANG and (7) SOMETHING LOST are others to consider.
