Golden Angel to give punters wings

The Glen Kotzen-trained GOLDEN ANGEL runs in Race 4 – the BET WITH COLOSSUS POOLS EXCLUSIVE ON www.tote.co.za CLASS 4 at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday 02 August 2026.

With Champions Season concluded, attention turns to a competitive eight-race meeting at Hollywoodbets Scottsville on Sunday. With the breeding season approaching, several mares and fillies could be making their final starts before retirement, adding extra intrigue to the card.

Race 1 is an open maiden sprint where Forthegoodtimes is expected to improve after a promising debut third over course and distance. Pink Skies, Sweet Cherry, Iceberg Rose and veteran maiden Tipperary also hold solid claims.

Gimme The Power looks the horse to beat in Race 2 after consistently finishing close up. Back over a sprint with Keagan de Melo aboard, she can finally break through, while Floral Kingdom and debutante Umoyawokubamelela are among the dangers.

The Pick 6 begins with another open maiden, where Future Prospect, After The Fire, Guild The Lily and Jenny Darling all appeal.

Trainer Glen Kotzen could dominate Race 4 with Golden Angel, who meets stablemate Sesame on much better weight terms after finishing second to her last time. Hurricane Flight and Our Lady Fate are also worth considering.

Race 5 is a competitive Class C contest over 1600m. Buddy Boy has been consistent in blinkers and gets the nod ahead of the lightly raced Double Causeway, Song To The Moon and Blizzard Boy.

The remaining races are equally open. Captain’s Pride, Izibulo, Alltheboysiveloved and Blue Poppy all have winning claims in Race 6.

In Race 7, Cappellino deserves respect despite switching from the polytrack, while Trafalgar Square, Bless Me Fred, Futano and Champagne Mac are all capable of featuring.

The finale is another wide-open handicap. Billy Cool bids to complete a successful KwaZulu-Natal campaign after an impressive last-start win, though a higher handicap mark poses a challenge. Caribbean Gold, Blazing Fury and Cavalry Commander complete a competitive closing contest.
