HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 1, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80,000, 12:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Duncan Howells could have pulled one off here. MAQUETTE (6) maybe carrying 62kg but she is down in class over her best course and distance taking on some recent maiden winners who could find it difficult at the weights. MAMAS BABY (4) is back from a break after shedding her maiden at first time of asking over the Scottsville short-cut but she does look progressive. Darryl Moore saddles TARA STAR (2) who caught all by surprise winning at long odds on debut. The stable may well have thought that she would need the run. AVERNI PRINCESS (5) finally got it right over course and distance last start and the Louis Goosen stable has come good.

Selections:

#6 MAQUETTE, #4 MAMAS BABY, #2 TARA STAR, #5 ARVERNI PRINCESS

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 2, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R80,000, 13:05GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: VISION TO ACHIEVE (6) went close on the poly last run with first time blinkers. Paul Gadsby’s filly was not far back in a Gr2 feature last season while still a maiden and the switch to turf could see her home. JAZZ CAFE (8) found good market support on debut but finished a distant third. She is sure to come on from that effort. THE QUEEN BEE (7) made a promising debut for Wendy Whitehead and should come on from that effort. YOUGOGIRL (9) had a tricky draw first time out for Timothy Pretorius. She finished behind Vision To Achieve but should have improvement to come.

Selections:

#6 VISION TO ACHIEVE, #8 JAZZ CAFE, #7 THE QUEEN BEE, #9 YOUGOGIRL

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 3, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R80,000, 13:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Michael Roberts has two lively contenders in PLETTENBERG (1) and NOBLE WARRIOR (2).  Both showed up well on debut with stable jockey Rachel Venniker opting for Noble Warrior but she will be up against Richard Fourie on her stable companion. SILVER SAVAGE (4) was backed at long odds last start when tried in blinkers for the first time and Mark Dixon’s runner did improve. The blinkers come off as he steps up over further and he is one to watch. COMMON GROUNDS (8) was a beaten favourite for Darryl Moore last run but the gelding has come on with each outing and the extra furlong will suit.

Selections:

#1 PLETTENBERG, #4 SILVER SAVAGE, #8 COMMON GROUNDS, #2 NOBLE WARRIOR

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 4, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R80,000, 14:15GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: ELEGANT ACT (7) put in a smart first run for Dean Kannemeyer and is sure to improve on that effort. The same goes for JUNIPER GREEN (4) with Gareth van Zyl’s filly second best to Miss Paget in what was a competitive maiden field. OCEAN PALACE (12) was a beaten favourite at just her second start. That was on the poly and Weiho Marwing’s charge has a tricky draw to negotiate. ELUSIVE BELLE (14) also caught the eye on debut but has it all to do from the widest gate and will need some luck in running. PIXIE IN LOVE (1) came from well back for second last start but has been struggling. The draw will help this time around.

Selections:

#7 ELEGANT ACT, #4 JUNIPER GREEN, #12 OCEAN PALACE, #14 ELUSIVE BELLE

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 5, Gallops, 2200m, Turf, R80,000, 14:50GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Difficult race. Alyson Wright and Muzi yeni have struck up a good relationship of late and they team up with IMAGINABLE (7) who was much improved in first-time blinkers but he will need to build on that effort. SWIFT NICKS (2) looks held by Imaginable on their last meeting but Gareth van Zyl’s runner found good market support that day so there may be more to come. STREETSHAVENONAME (11) was a touch disappointing last run after a good previous effort. He goes this trip for the first time but should see it out. THE GREEN GALLANT (9) is battling and held on current form but he is capable of a surprise given some luck in running.

Selections:

#7 IMAGINABLE, #2 SWIFT NICKS, #11 STREETSHAVENONAME, #9 THE GREEN GALLANT

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 6, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R80,000, 15:25GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Wide open. CAN’T CATCH ME (7) has her third run for Stuart Ferrie and her third run after a break. She has come on nicely, the trip should suit and she rates a strong chance in this line-up. FAIZAH (8) is lightly raced and was a narrow winner over course and distance last time out. That form has held up well and she can go in again. LEOPARD LADY (9) has the worst of the draw but is long overdue a second win. She has been remarkably consistent of late and her stable is in form. MEL’S PRINCESS (6) surprised at long odds when winning a sprint. With that run under her girth over what looks to be a more suitable trip, she can go in again.

Selections:

#7 CAN’T CATCH ME, #8 FAIZAH, #9 LEOPARD LADY, #6 MEL’S PRINCESS

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 7, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R90,000, 16:05GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: FORESHORE (9) is unbeaten in three starts for Duncan Howells and the filly got an eight-point shunt up the handicap for her last win, not that it matters much in this set weights race. She is now the second best rated but does have a tricky wide gate to negotiate. BOMBER GIRL (6) is the best rated runner but her rating has been earned over sprints. However, Tienie Prinsloo is a clever trainer and if Bomber Girl can carry her form to a mile, she will be a big threat. BOSNAY (2) was not match for Foreshore last time out and Darryl Moore’s charge has been dropping in the ratings but she is useful and has a strong money chance. SIGN OF FATE (1) enjoyed the jump in trip when shedding her maiden and although taking on stronger she can make an impression.

Selections:

#9 FORESHORE, #6 BOMBER GIRL, #1 SIGN OF FATE, #2 BOSNAY

HOLLYWOODBETS GREYVILLE, 08.10.2023, Race 8, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R80,000, 16:40GMT+2

Race Summary: Summary: Gareth van Zyl could hold the key. His two runners, CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN (10) and FATEFUL DAY (11) have drawn widest of all but both are in good form.  Serino Moodley has again been booked for Captainofthegreen who he has ridden for the last two races, both from tricky draws. Stable rider Athandiwe Mgudlwa stays aboard Fateful Day who takes a healthy drop in class. These two could dominate. Doug Campbell looks to have a decent three-year-old in ERMELO (1) but the gelding has not been out since early June. He does show promise and from pole position must be taken seriously. TEICHMAN (4) hardly knows how to run a bad race and gets on well with Cole Dicken. He has a handy weight and must have a strong money chance again.

Selections:

#11 FATEFUL DAY, #10 CAPTAINOFTHEGREEN, #1 ERMELO, #4 TEICHMAN

Best Win: #7 ELEGANT ACT

Best Value Bet: #7 CAN’T CATCH ME

Best Longshot: #4 SILVER SAVAGE
