Vaal Preview – 11 July

South Africa Horse Racing Previews: VAAL CLASSIC@2023.07.11

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 1, Gallops, 1450m, Turf, R75.000, 12:25GMT+2

Race Summary: This won’t take much winning and MAGIC PRINCE ought to do better than his last start (1000m) with this distance likely to suit. UNCLE LUCKY and BROADWAY have the form and experience to make their presence felt, though a bigger threat could come from FULL GO who is open to improvement over this trip. SOUL CAPTAIN is one to note on his Highveld/stable debut.

Selections:

#1 Magic Prince, #5 Full Go, #2 Uncle Lucky, #4 Broadway

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 2, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R90.000, 13:00GMT+2

Race Summary: CLIFF HANGER and HEIRLOOM blotted their copybook at Grade 1 level last time and should fare better in these calmer waters. Last-start winners QHAWE LAMI, HAPPY ANALIA and STORMY CHOICE are all improving, so could stake a claim.

Selections:

#1 Cliff Hanger, #5 Heirloom, #2 Qhawe Lami, #6 Stormy Choice

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 3, Gallops, 1450m, Turf, R75.000, 13:35GMT+2

Race Summary: GOCEKWITHLOVE should have more to offer over this trip after an encouraging debut. SOLO DIVA has the form and experience to be competitive but returns from a layoff. MOUNT ETNA, SHINY SILVA and BUTTERNUTENROOIWYN could improve to have a say too.

Selections:

#8 Gocekwithlove, #1 Solo Diva, #9 Mount Etna, #7 Butternutenrooiwyn

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 4, Gallops, 1800m, Turf, R75.000, 14:10GMT+2

Race Summary: GREENLIGHT MAGIC and MO THE MAN are on the up and boast solid form credentials, so should have a say in the finish. HAZLO GRANDE fits a similar profile and is likely to be competitive if making any improvement in first-time blinkers. LITTLE PRINCE and WONDERWORLD are not incapable of getting into the action either, along with ELUSIVE SWANN.

Selections:

#1 Greenlight Magic, #2 Mo The Man, #4 Hazlo Grande, #5 Little Prince

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 5, Gallops, 2000m, Turf, R70.000, 14:45GMT+2

Race Summary: Tricky. BALLROOM BLISS is in good form and is likely to be competitive once more but could be worth opposing off a 7-point higher mark with PRINCESS KESH in her first start for the new yard. The latter caught the eye last time after a slow start and has dropped in the ratings to an attractive mark in the ratings. QUEEN BOMI and WINNING QUEEN have been in good order too, so are dangerous to dismiss. ANGEL’S WISH, LIVERPOOL LEGEND and HAVE A PARTY are others to consider.

Selections:

#2 Princess Kesh, #1 Ballroom Bliss, #8 Queen Bomi, #4 Angel’s Wish

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 6, Gallops, 2400m, Turf, R70.000, 15:20GMT+2

Race Summary: Good race. MONSIEUR CHEVELLE is better than his last race suggests and should bounce back to form with blinkers fitted in this lower grade. ABSOLUTE VALUE holds that rival on the form of their 1 June meeting, so must be included. NUCLEAR FORCE and INDIAN WAR DANCE are distance suited and have claims too, but it could pay to follow the progress of MANZ KNIGHT who has given the impression he could have more to offer going this trip.

Selections:

#4 Manz Knight, #2 Absolute Value, #1 Monsieur Chevelle, #3 Nuclear Force

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 7, Gallops, 1450m, Turf, R70.000, 15:55GMT+2

Race Summary: Tricky. AFTER HOURS is in good form but drawn wide. Both FORT LAUDERDALE and IN CAHOOTS are carded to run at an earlier meeting so their participation is in doubt. GREEN SCEPTRE and THAMBI are capable of doing better off lower marks, so are dangerous to dismiss. Returning NEVER TO CLEVER and FLAG BEARER have the means to stake a claim if ready to go after a rest. ROCKINGTHETIMEAWAY and SILLY FELLA are not without a chance either.

Selections:

#3 After Hours, #1 Fort Lauderdale, #7 Thambi, #2 In Cahoots

Vaal Classic, 11.07.2023, Race 8, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R70.000, 16:30GMT+2

Race Summary: Fillies INSATIABLE and MIA REGINA are favourably treated by the conditions and will be competitive if taking their place in the lineup. Both are engaged to run at an earlier meeting so their participation could be in doubt. WHAT A TIGER is one of just three males in the race and is also weighted to play a role in the finish, so must be included. MANDALAY has been close-up in recent outings and can make her presence felt too with the blinkers retained.

Selections:

#1 Insatiable, #2 What A Tiger, #3 Mia Regina, #8 Mandalay

Best Win: #8 GOCEKWITHLOVE

Best Value Bet: #2 PRINCESS KESH

Best Longshot: #2 PRINCESS KESH
