Race Preview

R1 – PRIX CHANTILLY CAPITALE DU CHEVAL – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 55,000

1. CHARTWELL – Ignore last run, was a winner before that over 1900m in Handicap class at this
very course. Good chance
2. HAWK POWER – Improving quickly, finished 2nd over 2200m at Fontainebleau on the 13th of
this month. The horse to beat
3. GILDED DRAGON – Finished 3rd at Chantilly over 1900m in a competitive Handicap on the
28th of March. Strong chance on the back of this effort
4. GOWAY – Placed 3rd over 2150m at Cagnes-Sur-Mer in February in a handicap. Has a
penalty to endure after last win and has been off two months
5. MEAUTIS – Exciting horse, finished 2nd in last three races, last run was at Saint-Cloud over
2000m on the 12th of this month. Bright win chance
6. WIT PERD – Won over 1900m at this venue on the 28th of March but form before that was
average. More needed and others are preferred
7. ALTHURAYA – Was a winner at the last start which was at Compiegne over 2000m in a weak
claiming race. Much more needed today. Happy to ignore
8. DEMPY – Races fresh off a victory at Saint-Cloud over 2000m in a Handicap on 5 April. One
for the shortlist
9. PESTACLE – Coming back to best form, finished 2nd at Saint-Cloud over 2100m on the 12th
of March in a Handicap. Might be worth including as value despite the rise in grade
10. GANASS – Was way back in 10th last time over 1900m at Chantilly in a similar contest.
Needs to build on that to feature here. Prefer others
11. FASHION GREY – Ignore last run, finished 2nd at Toulouse at penultimate start and must be
taken seriously. Strong place chance
12. TILILA – Should get it all right soon, placed 2nd over 1900m at this track on the 28th of last
month. Big runner on that basis
13. AGORIA – Lightly raced, won early over 2150m at Lyon La Soie and could be anything.
Respect and include despite the poor draw on outside
14. STARZO FAL – Running well albeit in weak Handicaps and can earn here. Finished 2nd over
1900m on the 28th of March. Remains a maiden after twelve runs
15. MERI LILOU – Placed 4th over 2000m at Saint-Cloud last time out on handicap debut and
could lurk into the back end of the quartet. Up in grade though and not a priority                              16. LOST IN MUSIC – Placed 4th over 2400m at Nantes when last seen at the races. Much more
needed for the win and can be passed by for today

Summary: HAWK POWER (2) has run three outstanding races thus far and should take a power
of beating and is therefore the firm first choice. He is very progressive and can make a big impact
on his handicap debut. MEAUTIS (5) is improving and rapidly. His last run at Saint-Cloud was a
second and he can go one better with blinkers applied for the first time. Big chance. GILDED
DRAGON (3) has shown up well in two competitive Handicaps recently and has each way claims.
CHARTWELL (1) was a winner at the penultimate and can be forgiven for his last below par run.

SELECTIONS
HAWK POWER (2) – MEAUTIS (5) – GILDED DRAGON (3) – CHARTWELL (1)

R2 – PRIX DE L’ALLEE DE LA PLAINE – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Class 4 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 15,000

1. BAYLAGAN – Would be a shock winner as finished 14th over 1600m at Chantilly on the 15th
of this month. Pass by
2. CORAL SLIPPER – Won cozily at Nancy in penultimate run over 2000m in a Handicap,
finished 6th after that and can be expected to do way better. Place chance
3. DELACHANCE – Hard to fancy on current form. Has finished 10th and 12th respectively and is
hard to make a case for. Highly unlikely
4. CAPCHOP – Never too far adrift the winners but needs to build on recent 7th at Lyon La Soie
to threaten. Happy to ignore
5. GRISBI – Ignore last dire run, finished 2nd over 1900m at this venue on the 28th of March and
has a serious winning chance
6. EMPIRIC – Needs serious progression on latest form to threaten here and far prefer others.
Small place chance at best
7. IZAKAYA – Caught the eye when 2nd over 1500m at Marseille Vivaux on the 5th of April and is
worth considering for the shortlist. Has a say
8. TICKLISH – Excellent last run when 2nd over 1600m in Handicap class at this course on the
15th of April. Big runner
9. ALPENGEIST – A much better effort last time when 4th over 1600m in a Handicap at this
circuit on the 15th of February. Might need this run to come on but has a say
10. CLOUD MAN – Taking time to win and has absolutely no form to suggest. Finished 12th at
Chantilly last time. Would be a shock winner
11. SORRENZA – Holding form, running well, attractive effort at Chantilly last time and must be
taken seriously. Big chance
12. CALY ROSAY – Is a tad off form currently, placed 7th over 1400m at Deauville last time at the
races. Prefer others
13. MY RIVER – Much better 3rd last time and has to be taken seriously based on that run alone.
The 3rd came at this track over 1600m earlier this month. Quartet must

Summary: GRISBI (5) has won many races but is a tad erratic. He is more than capable of a
winning run in this class and based on his penultimate effort when second at this course over
1900m in a Handicap, is the first suggestion. TICKLISH (8) showed in her last run that her next
career win is near. She has strong each way claims and is a must for all bets. SORRENZA (11) is
a professional maiden, should win one of these days but has more of a place chance, than a
winning one. CORAL SLIPPER (2) is a tad erratic but is a must for the quartet permutations. She
is capable of serving up a huge effort.

SELECTIONS                                                                                                                          GRISBI (5) – TICKLISH (8) – SORRENZA (11) – CORAL SLIPPER (2)

1. KINGSWOOD FLYER – Won one from six start in UK last year. Unplaced in both starts on
French soil this year including in a Listed race at Chantilly on 18 March
2. ALFRED – Won three from twelve starts in UK last year. Finished last of four in a Class 1 at
Saint-Cloud on 5 April on French debut. Best to pass over
3. RIBBLE VIBE – Impressive winner on 3 December on PSF at Deauville but failed to confirm
that form on seasonal debut. Can make amends
4. FORESEEN – Won on debut over the course & distance on 28 March. Has more to offer and
can follow up with another success
5. VEGAS – Won on debut at Compiègne in June last year. Disappointed on seasonal debut on 8
March at Chantilly on fibersand and is expected to do better back on turf
6. TOKYO DREAMER – Won one from ten starts in UK last year. Well beaten on French debut at
Chantilly on 14 March and has work to do
7. RED COUNTESS – Went off the mark on second career start on 6 April at Nantes over a mile
on heavy ground. Up in grade and can pop up
8. EMPLOY – One win from six starts and finished 2nd in a Listed Race on 21 September at
Lyon-Parilly last time out. Big expectations on seasonal debut
9. HARMONY GREY – Won two from three starts last year. Well held on seasonal return in a
Listed Race at Saint-Cloud on 7 March. Easier task assigned today
10. FATHOM – One win and three seconds from four starts last year. Runner-up in a Listed Race
at Bordeaux over a mile on 3 October in last start of 2023 and is off since then

Summary: A short margin winner of a newcomer’s race at the end of March over the course &
distance, FORESEEN (4) is the firm choice to follow up in this Class 2 contest. VEGAS (5) is
back on turf after a disappointing comeback run and could improve. RIBBLE VIBE (3) beat a nice
horse on debut at Deauville last December and should not be overlooked. Runner-up in a Listed
Race in her last start of 2023, EMPLOY (8) is another one to keep on the short list.

SELECTIONS
FORESEEN (4) – VEGAS (5) – RIBBLE VIBE (3) – EMPLOY (8)

and is one for the shortlist
5. BLACK GEM – Newcomer by Waldgeist out of an unraced dam by Dansili. Stéphane Pasquier

Summary: POLYSPEED (8) is by Frankel and is the first foal out of Prix Maurice de Gheest
winner Polydream. He should be closely monitored for a top yard under Maxime Guyon.
STRANGELOVE (9) is another colt who is regally bred and is definitely worth a good look in.
From the André Fabre’s stable, PERGAMON (4) will have his supporters. BLACK GEM (5) is
another one likely to generate some interest on debut.

SELECTIONS
POLYSPEED (8) – STRANGELOVE (9) – PERGAMON (4) – BLACK GEM (5)

R5 – PRIX DE L’ALLEE DE LA PETITE HAIE – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20,000

when last seen on April 15th. Looks out of form and best watched

Hard to ignore

likely improve for this run after 5 months away
13. PRINCE DES DUNES – 3rd at Moulins last time over 1400m in a Class 4 handicap on April
14th. Others make more appeal

Summary: ANDINO (5) has some solid form of late, a good second in a Class 4 race last time
and he acts well on the PSF. He can score from his likely main danger HERODION (4) who has
dropped to the same handicap rating as when he won at Deauville in March 2023. He can get
back on track and be competitive. URI (11) can make the frame and is the logical each-way
option. LA FIBRE (9) makes up the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
ANDINO (5) – HERODION (4) – URI (11) – LA FIBRE (9)

R6 – PRIX DE MANSE – 2100m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Newcomers Race – Flat – EUR € 27,000

13. SAINTEFOY LAGRANDE – Newcomer by Lawman, the booking of Christian Demuro catches
the eye. Any market support should be noted

Summary: The well-bred EARENDEL (4) will be well-tuned for a bold show on her debut. She
can score from another filly with a choice pedigree in QUESTURA (12) who is from a shrewd
handler who can ready one to be involved on debut. LEMSAIRBAT (1) looks good on paper and
is one to keep safe, as is ALCALA (6) who hails from a stable that has their newcomers ready to
strike at the first time of asking. GRAND STARS (5) is also worth a mention.

SELECTIONS

Summary: PROBABLY ME (3) will be fancied to score after a good effort last time when second

when second at Tarbes earlier this month and can not be ignored. LA TOUR DU BOIS (7) is one
for the each-way backers to take seriously. RIO (2) acts well on the PSF and if as effective back
on the turf, she can have a say.

SELECTIONS
PROBABLY ME (3) – JUBBAH (4) – LA TOUR DU BOIS (7) – RIO (2)

14. NATIONAL VELVET – Won last time over 1600m in a Class 4 race on April 6th at Cavaillon.
Among the leading place chances

Summary: SAMAGACE DU VIVIEN (11) is the tentative selection in an open-looking handicap to
end the card. He knows how to win and could have the most to fear from MON SIOUX (2) who
won at Chantilly in January on the PSF and can not be ruled out at this venue. D DAY MAN (10)
is one for the each-way backers to latch on to. CRACK CITY (1) is worth considering despite
being at the head of the weights.
