Cheer Clemenceau home
Quality four-year-old gelding CLEMENCEAU is poised to claim the $200,000 Listed Takeover Target Stakes over 1200m from Gosford Racecourse, Australia on Saturday.
The Team Hawkes-trained sprinter boasts a solid record of five wins from 11 starts with a further six placings to his name and was last seen storming home late into second place in the Group 3 Star Kingdom Stakes over 1200m at Rosehill Racecourse on 25 March. It hasn’t been a bad form race, with third place-getter, Coal Crusher, a winner two starts later, with multiple other runners subsequently performing well in future starts.
Nicely weighted on 55.5kgs for jockey Jason Collett, CLEMENCEAU should be getting his chance against some of his key rivals up in the weights, as well as drawing lower than them too. Race fitness is now on his side and he looks to be hitting peak form at the right time for this race.

Lathan a Welcome sight
On Saturday, at Kembla Grange Racecourse in Australia, the in-form mare WELCOME GYPSY is poised to achieve a hat-trick of victories in the $40,000 Benchmark 64 Handicap over 1200m.
WELCOME GYPSY’S debut at Newcastle in late March was a resounding success, as she convincingly won her maiden race. Her performance was validated by Secret Revolution, the second-place finisher, who won his next start. WELCOME GYPSY was then heavily favoured in her first handicap race at this track and emerged victorious.
WELCOME GYPSY is the second-highest rated runner in this week’s field, but she carries less weight than her main competitors. With this advantage and the inside draw, WELCOME GYPSY is well-suited to triumph under the guidance of jockey Keagan Latham.

Triumph on The Wind
In-form five-year-old FEAR THE WIND can go back-to-back in the $80,000 RTG66+ race over 2200m at Ascot racecourse this Saturday.
A three-time winner from 17 starts, FEAR THE WIND has shown big improvement since stepping up to this distance recently. Two starts ago, the son of Fiorente finished a solid third in a Class 5 race at Pinjarra before defying a wide draw to score by 2.4 lengths over this track and distance last time out.
This week, FEAR THE WIND finds a similar race to continue his winning ways and with champion jockey William Pike remaining on board, a double looks well within his reach.
