Penang Racing Preview By Mark Lydeamore For 17 Sep

Another challenging card in store for punters when racing heads to the northern circuit at Penang Turf Club this Saturday where the Class 4 and Class 5 gallopers will be catered for.

A mare with potential, TRUDY looks ready to strike at her third run back in Class 4 grade when she goes around in Race 5 over the 1300m journey. The six year old returned to better form last start when placed here three weeks ago and she does boast a record of three wins from six tries at the track and distance.

One definite danger is AGUERO JR who is third up and is coming out of a strong form race where he finished fourth, beaten three lengths behind smart performer, Shanghai Nights. The six year old won successive races at his last appearances in Class 4 company earlier this year and will be at peak fitness this preparation for the inform Lim Hoon Seng stable.

GRAND CHOICE trialled impressively in KL recently and will be first up since finishing runner up at the same track on June 19. DIRECTOR was a former Class 1 galloper at one stage in his career and is back to a winnable rating.

Former jockey turned trainer, Ismadi Ismail has a small but select team and recent stable acquisition, ROCK N ROLL can bounce back to winning form in the 1200m Class 5 contest (Race 6). A winner at its local debut on August 7, the six year old was a beaten favourite last start but should redeem himself dropping back in distance this Saturday.

DARK WIZARD is knocking on the door following a string of minor placings and is overdue for a win. SIMLONG BEACH is a fast beginner and likely leader as it attempts to break the maiden tag. The four year old was run down after looking the winner last start at Ipoh and looks well suited returning to its home track. GEORGETOWN cannot be dismissed either and despite his poor record in Penang, his proven Class 5 record places him in good stead for a forward showing.
