From the widest draw last start, he was pushed forward early to stalk the leader and fought on gamely to finish second, beaten only a neck over 1800m at Happy Valley. Prior to that, he also produced a strong on-pace effort to finish third first-up.
The rise to 2000m should suit, having finished a creditable fifth in the Hong Kong Derby over the trip five starts ago, and he looks set to play a key role.
Race 8 – 8 ROAD TO GLORY
After finishing a slashing second on debut, he produced a seemingly modest effort last start when running on only fairly to finish eighth over 1200m. However, recording the fastest final sectional suggests the run was better than it appears on paper, while the form has also since been franked.
Having won a recent trial with more positive tactics, he is expected to settle closer to the speed and could prove a value option.

Race 3 – 14 SMART FAT CAT
He resumed with an encouraging sixth over this track and distance two weeks ago, closing off strongly with the third fastest final sectional in 22.61 seconds. After placing five times from 15 starts, he looks capable of finally breaking through with added fitness second-up.
Race 5 – 12 NOBLE PATCH
An awkward start left him on the back foot early last time out, but he still finished off strongly to take sixth in a slowly run 1400m contest, clocking a sharp final sectional of 22.07 seconds. Facing a more manageable this week, he looks capable of making his presence felt and could represent some value.
