Trainer Glen Kotzen has been in good form of late and it is interesting to note that the majority of his recent winners have been juveniles.
On Wednesday 1 June he sends out another that looks ready to win by the name of Feeling Groovy in Race 2, a Maiden for fillies and mares over 1400m.
Feeling Groovy is the beautifully bred daughter of multiple Grade 1 winning miler Canford Cliffs out of Movingandgrooving, who is by none other than Jet Master – one of South Africa’s best. There was much to like about how she ran in her debut on the turf at Greyville a few weeks back.
She looked to have been treated with soft hands and still was not far off Only Hearts and Ready To Fly who were already battle hardened. Feeling Groovy receives 4kgs from main danger Sky Café and with an extra 2,5kg allowance thanks to apprentice jockey Gabriell Pieterse, should be hard to beat on her poly debut.
Another banker bet on the day looks to be Peteca who runs in Race 4, a 1600m Maiden for all. The Paul Peter inmate was expected to win his next start after running third to Another Thief as that form line produced three subsequent winners including JP Two Thousand, who won another race straight after.
Peteca’s last run was even better. He finished fastest, only beaten 0.90 lengths in a race that has seen five winners come out of it.
Add to that draw one at Greyville and the recently gelded individual is starting to look like another winner in waiting for Peter and rider Warren Kennedy. Banker in all bets and one to couple with Feeling Groovy and others in all to come bets.
It could be a red-letter day for Peter as some of his other strong form runners have secured barrier one. Overdue Mckenna Skye (Race 6) and lightning-fast Fennec Fox (Race 7) will be there for nothing in their respective heats and could also make for a fantastic day for log leading rider Kennedy.
