What is Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe?


Every autumn, the world’s finest thoroughbreds converge on ParisLongchamp for one of international racing’s greatest prizes — the Qatar Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

First run in 1920, the prestigious Group 1 contest is staged over 2,400 metres and brings together leading horses from France and around the world in pursuit of one of racing’s most coveted titles.

The 2026 edition takes place on Sunday, 4 October, with a €5 million prize fund and another world-class field expected in Paris

The Qatar Arc Trials is the happening this early september, which serves as a pre-requisite before the actual main event. This is great timing because all three are run over the same 2,400m ParisLongchamp course as the Arc, and each winner gets a guaranteed Arc berth. An unentered winner can even receive a free supplementary entry worth €120,000.
