Alan Greeff has a way with the fillies

Trainer Alan Greeff 练马师格林福

Trainer Alan Greeff, who enjoyed success in Sunday’s Algoa Cup at TAB Fairview, can continue his good form at the course this Friday.

It may pay to follow him with fillies Say A Prayer in Race 5, Fantine in Race 7 and Rock Me Mama in Race 8. All three arrive on the back of victories last time out.

Say A Prayer contests a MR 67 Handicap over 1000m. The three-year-old daughter of Real Gone Kid was last seen in May, when she narrowly beat the decent Carnival. That rival has won three times since and remains a sprinter to follow.

Say A Prayer had finished third on debut, behind stable companion and two-time winner This Or That. Her victory over Carnival was hard-fought, but it was significant that current rider Richard Fourie was aboard for the first time. He will have learnt plenty from that ride.

It was also Say A Prayer ‘s first taste of the Polytrack, and from a favourable draw, she can follow up.

Stable companion Fantine took eight starts to break her maiden, but she is improving and fought on gamely to win on Sunday. The four-year-old daughter of Hawwaam has incurred a two-point penalty, but she could follow up in this MR 90 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m.

It is worth noting that Fourie was aboard when she finished eighth over an inadequate 1200m on his first ride, and he has won on her in each of his next two starts.

Rafeef filly Rock Me Mama was a bitter disappointment when unplaced at a very short price in May, but she has strengthened up since then and has won two of her last three starts. Those victories include a MR 66 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1600m on the TAB Fairview Polytrack.

She can double up over the same course and distance, but Fourie will need to overcome a wide draw.
