Seoul Race 1: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight B / France Galop Trophy / KRW 150 Million

(3) SINGSING MORNING is a colt by Munnings who won his sole trial on July 23 by five-lengths and the second placed horse from that heat subsequently came out and won last week. On that basis, as well as the fact that trainer Bae Hou-jun and owner Jeon Seok-ho have already produced arguably the most impressive juvenile winner of the year so far in the shape of Singsing Nashe, this horse is worth following. (7) HOPE K continues to get better with each run and was a dashing five-length winner of the Rookie Stakes three weeks ago so he could easily score again. Hope K was three-and-a-half lengths behind (6) SOUTH CARNIVAL back at the end of May before vastly turning the tables in the Rookie Stakes. South Carnival is a definitely a chance of bouncing back to winning ways as is (5) KKUMUI YEONSOK who was behind both of those horses in the Rookie Stakes after missing the start and subsequently never getting any closer than second last but this Luigi Riccardi prepared Tale Of Silence colt was incredibly impressive in his debut victory where he scored by seven-lengths. (8) MAHO was behind Kkumui Yeonsok in that race before winning his second start over (2) MIGHTY HUNKY, who is one of two runners for Seo Hong-soo with the other being (4) MIGHTY HIGHT which was a three-length winner of his second race.

Seoul Race 2: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight B / Singapore Pools Trophy / KRW 150 Million

(7) EVERY TIME was second in all three runs as a juvenile last season but has more than made amends for those runner-up finishes with two starts for two wins as a three-year-old. Those two wins this year have both been over this distance by margins of seven and three-lengths and he will prove hard to catch under Ruan Maia. (10) LIVE STAR was the boom three-year-old heading into the Triple Crown but came unstuck in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas), following a deplorable beginning, and in The Derby. He bounced back to winning ways in an 1800M Class 3 in June before getting rolled last start. His beginnings have not been as fluent since going down to Busan for the Guineas and it will be very interesting to see how he handles the 1200M. (2) BREEDO AQUA was always on the back foot last start but had been impressive from the front in her previous two wins and has ability. (13) FLUTTER has a horror draw to contend with but should not be discounted whilst (3) RAON THE AFFIRMED and impressive last start winner (12) BEST PITCH are definite chances and (11) JAZZ PURPLE and (4) BEST SECRET should not be discounted either in one of the best races of this year’s international meeting.

Seoul Race 3: Class Open (1700M) Special Weight B / RACE COAST KZN Trophy / KRW 150 Million

(2) SLING STAR has won six races from nine starts and they include each of his last five with the most recent being by six-lengths. This is his toughest test to date but there is every chance he will pass it in flying colours. (9) GLOBAL CHAMP is another smart one who has won five times from eight attempts. He has won three of his last four, two of those wins being by eight and four-lengths respectively, with the other run being a second beaten a head. Seo Seung-un rides for the first time and he will go close. (1) CHRYSOL STONE is a smart filly on her day and whilst she was a beaten odds-on favourite last start, she could bounce back. They are clearly the three key runners with (7) SEGWANG FIGHTER, (6) ECLAIR POWER, (3) JISAN FORCE, (4) YEONHUI HERO and (10) ECLIPSE THE KING best of the rest.

Seoul Race 4: Class Open (1400M) Special Weight B / Selangor Turf Club Trophy / KRW 150 Million

(8) HWANG GEUM EO JANG ran a game second to Funny Wild in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas) before turning the tables on him when producing a tough performance to take out The Derby in excellent fashion. He finished third as an evens favourite when resuming at the end of July, but he was only beaten a nose and was not disgraced after copping pressure in front from the eventual winner. That victor was Keidragon who was subsequently second last week to the talented G B Vault whilst Mustang Power, who split Keidragon and Hwang Geum Eo Jang in that three-way photo finish, finished third. The decrease in distance should not pose too many worries and this year’s winner of Korea’s second biggest 1800M race can bounce back to winning ways. However, (2) RAON FLORENCE should more than make his presence felt as he has continued to get better this year. He was only two-thirds of a length behind Hansen Bracing, who competes in this weekend’s Korean Sprint, two runs ago and either side of that effort are multiple victories so he must be respected. (7) REMEMBER AGAIN was a front-running winner in March before working too hard from the front in April. He then raced in June where he came from off the pace to win by five-lengths over two subsequent winners, of which one of those reopposes in this, and is an interesting runner. (6) MORE THAN JOKE, (4) ELDORADO NOLBU and (3) MARU JANGGUN should all be around the mark in another excellent contest.

Seoul Race 5: Class Open (1800M) Special Weight B / Japan Racing Association Trophy / KRW 150 Million

(7) CIRCLE A is one of the better three-year-olds in the country and is looking to complete a hat-trick of wins, as well as five wins from his last six starts, following two impressive on pace victories over a mile on July 4 and August 15 by two and seven-lengths respectively. Furkan Yuksel rides as he has done in each of the horse’s ten career starts and the return to 1800M for the Luigi Riccardi prepared colt can only be a plus as well so he will prove extremely hard to stop. (1) ONE PUNCH DRAGON was in excellent form this time twelve months ago with his win at this meeting last year being his fourth of five that he recorded consecutively. He lost form earlier this season but bounced back with a narrow second last start, roughly three-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of a subsequent winner, and on that run creates interest. (9) MY EMPIRE is having his first race since a second place in May when splitting the outstanding Roshe and a subsequent victor. He was built up as one of the better classic aged horses in the country earlier in the year and is an enthralling runner. (5) TANSEONGUI BANSEOK and (6) ZETTA MASTER, who will come from the rear, should run their usual consistent races with (8) DAESEONG STAR the other main runner.

Seoul Race 6: Class 3 (1800M) Handicap / Sky Racing Trophy / KRW 75 Million

(5) KING MASTER ran Chrysol Stone to one-length on February 15 before beating Mr. Taeyang by four-lengths on March 29. He then took his chance in The Derby where he ran a fine fourth before only managing ninth in the Minister’s Cup, which Mr. Taeyang placed in. (4) CONCORD CODIE ran twelfth in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas) before flashing home for fifth in The Derby, only a head behind King Master, prior to finishing sixth in the Minister’s Cup, where he was four-and-a-quarter lengths ahead of King Master. King Master has not raced since the Minister’s whereas Concord Codie has had one subsequent run which was a narrow win over this distance in July at Class 4. They are incredibly hard to split but they do not just have each other to worry about as fellow three-year-old colt (9) ANYANGBITCHUISOKDO is coming off a last start seven-length score over a mile. This will be the furthest he has gone but he was best of the rest behind Chief Star in the Rookie Stakes last year, so the ability is there. (2) BREEDO SIRIS accounted for Live Star by three-lengths last start on August 9 so he is certainly not hopeless whilst (8) CHRYSOL DONGHAE will be hoping for a hot pace to run at and (1) BLACK SIDAE has five-and-a-half lengths to find with Breedo Siris from the ninth of last month.

Seoul Race 7: Class Open (1200M) Special Weight B / OSAF Trophy / KRW 150 Million

(1) THE SUN BULSAJO is a smart young sprinter who chased home Chief Star and Wonpyeong Sket at Listed level as a juvenile last October prior to winning three of her next four starts, the defeat being over a longer trip where she led and did not stay. She has been back in regular work for the last month and will prove hard to toss from the low draw. (7) BARO DANAEUN is a lightly raced five-year-old who has finished midfield in the last two renewals of the main race of the year for older fillies and mares in this country but has also not won since February of last year, just the same that was only seven runs ago, but is an each-way chance as usual. (8) BLUE PIORA is smart on her day evidenced by her eleven-length win two runs back. She came from last to run fifth in her first attempt at Class 2 most recently and Seo Seung-un retains the ride. (9) COSMO RUN was fourth in that race and went close to beating Wonpyeong Sket back in March. (6) HEALING HAVEN, who was fifth in this race last year, and (2) NAMSAN BELT, which split The Oaks winner Catch Race and Baro Danaeun last time, rate next whilst (4) GWANAKSAN O TWO and (3) EAST JUMP, third and first in this event last season, are not hopeless.

Seoul Race 8: Class 6 (1300M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million

(4) FOREVER HIT was a beaten odds-on favourite in two runs as a two-year-old last year, but she was not far away finishing third and fourth to some quality types in General Wind and Clutch Magic. She was fourth in a trial on August 13 and can break through at her third attempt. (9) STORM CRUSH has not been far away in four runs and that form is good enough to take her close in this with Franco da Silva taking the steer. (11) HOT SUGAR MAGIC is by Yeonseung Daero from the Baek Jong-su yard who finished an eight-length second in a trial three weeks ago. The winner of that heat did not do that much on her respective debut last week but she can still be given a chance as can (8) KATARINARA, even though she has finished worse than midfield in her two starts so far, with (10) RISING WIND, (3) ILSAN SNIPER and (6) RAPID STORM the other chances.

Seoul Race 9: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million

(7) BEAT CODE broke her maiden by five-lengths three runs ago at the end of May before subsequently chasing home two talented ones in Major Fury, subsequent Rookie Stakes runner-up, and Purple Korea, subsequent winner, in her two runs at this grade to date. There are no horses of that quality in her opposition here and she should win. (1) POWERFUL KNIGHT was always towards the rear when resuming but was considered good enough to go down to Busan last year for a crack at the Breeders’ Cup and the three runs he had during last winter show that he is good enough to go close in this. (3) JOY CHEONHA has been around the mark without winning and a similar result can be expected whilst the same comment can apply to (9) SAINT WINNER who rates next over (11) EODIDEUNJI and (10) POWER BEST.

Seoul Race 10: Class 4 (1200M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million

(7) G FLEX defeated Master Kwaigon, which has won on multiple occasions since, back in February before finishing down the track in the KRA Cup Mile (Korean 2000 Guineas). He has had two runs at this grade for two second places beaten a half-length and three-quarters of a length and gets another chance to score here with Ruan Maia riding the horse for the second time. (3) START UP has finished fourth in two runs at this grade after attempting to lead throughout. He was behind Concord Blue and Raon Finalle last start which is as good a form as any in this. (4) GEOSEN POKJU has a second three back to Cheonmahoryeong and if improving from her first run back a fortnight ago could go well. (6) RAON SPILETTA is one of the each-way chances with (11) PUNCH K and (2) BARAMUI GIEOK next best in a decent race to conclude what will be the best overall day of racing for this year in this country before the two big international features on Sunday.
