Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(7) GOLD ID didn’t do much on debut in March and ended back in a trial on April 16th where she cruised away to cross the line 1st in a quick time. It is worth mentioning that she had trialed well before her debut too, but she is worth another chance here. (8) JISAN COMING SOON went through two trials, improving significantly in the second of them when on pace throughout. If he brings that form to the races, he can be a danger first-up. (4) PIEONARI ran a fair 5th on debut over this distance on May 2nd, racing handy throughout and beating a couple of today’s rivals in the process and he can improve here. (6) CHRYSOL HEELS and (10) PNS LEAF other potential improvers.

After a good trial, (6) NAEGILUIWONDERFUL was sent off as favourite on debut over 1200M on April 25th and after a slow start, rallied for 4th place. He should have come on for that run and with a better break has every chance today. (5) COWBOY QUEEN was 5th on debut and followed up with a 2nd and most recently a 3rd place in two subsequent outings, both at 1200M. She stays under a light weight with an apprentice claim, she draws well and she can be a big danger. (9) PASA ACE was an improved 3rd at start four over 1300M on April 26th, settling midfield and running on. He too keeps the same apprentice claim and can go close. (10) LOVING PURPLE and (1) SMART GRAND others in the minor money frame.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(6) PERFECT POINT has made steady progress across four starts so far, culminating in 2nd place over this distance on April 19th when on pace throughout. He’ll be on pace again, Seo Seung-un climbs on for the first time, and today can be the day. (11) O.K. BABY was a very close 2nd at start number two over this distance on May 1st when he very nearly led all the way. Without an apprentice claim he is up 3kg in the weights and he has to contend with the widest gate, but he can be in the mix again. There are five debut makers and (9) PACHOUI KKUM looked good when winning a trial in a quick time on April 23rd, showing handy throughout. If she brings that form to the races, she is a big chance first up. (4) FLASH COCO and (5) BORYEONG THE QUEEN are others with experience who can improve.

(2) MEGA WIND has made progress across three starts so far with his latest being his best when 4th over 1300M on May 2nd when racing on pace. He draws well to lead again, the slight step up in trip shouldn’t be a problem, and he can win. (10) DUSON LIFE registered a 3rd place two outings back over 1300M and while he could only manage 5th on his latest at this distance on April 19th, he can be given another chance here. Duson Life will need to overturn the form on (6) GRAY PHANTOM, who ran 4th in that April 19th race, coning from well off the pace. The same apprentice keeps her weight nice and light and she can match or better that today. (1) M J VET, who comes out of a 2nd place in a very limited race, and solitary debut-maker (9) BREEDO EPIC, are others in the placing frame.

After finishing 5th on debut, (2) MAEUMMEOGEUNDAERO was an on-pace 3rd at start number two over 1300M on April 17th. Third-up he can be peaking, he draws well and the slight step up in trip shouldn’t stop him from breaking through. (1) GAON PERFECT was 3rd on debut over 1300M on March 20th before running 4th in that April 17th race, laying out for part of the race. He has four-lengths to find on Maeummeogeundaero but shapes as a big danger. (5) TEAHO beat three of today’s rivals when a much-improved 3rd as the longest shot on the bard on April 24th. He gets the same apprentice allowance today and warrants more respect. (3) WORLD BOLD MAN and (4) SKY BOY others in the placing frame.

(7) CHEONJI TANK had been building up towards a win, and it arrived at start four over 1300M on March 28th when he raced handy throughout. He is up in class and slightly in trip, but he is down in weight and he can win again. (10) POMADE got her maiden win two outings back when on pace over this distance. She then ran 3rd in his first try at this level on April 4th and while she does draw a touch wider than ideal today, she carries an even lighter weight, and she can be a danger. After winning on debut, (8) GWANAKSAN CHAMP took a few goes to figure out this level, but he came from well off the pace to run 3rd on April 5th and can be in this. (5) QUEEN ABIGAIL and up in class last start winner (3) YONGBIGYO others in the hunt.

Busan Race 3: Class Open (1800M) Weight for Age / Mayor’s Cup (KOR G2) / KRW 700 Million
The final leg of the Stayer Series and (5) CLEAN ONE, who won the Herald Business easily but skipped the YTN Cup for workload management reasons, will start a very short price favourite. His nine-length win in last November’s Grand Prix Stakes announced him as the best horse in Korea and he can run away from them here. (4) SPEED YOUNG never runs a bad race, and he can continue his remarkable record of placing in the biggest races by chasing the favourite home. (2) GLOBAL HIT showed he’s not done yet by running a close 2nd in the YTN Cup and while he clearly isn’t as good as he was a year ago, his current best is enough to be in the finish. (6) SUCCESS BAEKPA won the YTN Cup and while he can mix his form, he is among the leading contenders again. If we are to go past the four big-hitters, (7) BEOLGYO MASULSA and (8) YEONGGWANGUIFIRST may be the ones capable of stepping up.

(3) ANYANGBITCHUISOKDO ran 2nd in last August’s Rookie Stakes but then didn’t reappear until this April 18th. He was a solid 3rd on his return over 1200M, settling midfield and running on and stripping fitter for that run, he will be the hot favourite to come out on top here. (10) LAST K didn’t do much in his first two appearances, but he was a smart winner at start three over this distance on April 19th. He is up in class but comes down 2.5kg in weight and he can measure up in this company. (9) FLYING CONCORD returned in April from a more than nine-month absence. He has run 2nd and 4th in two starts since and third-up this preparation, he can be peaking fitness-wise. Those are the three clear standouts with (11) HWANSANGUI NARA and the returning (1) HAENGBOK YEOJEONSA perhaps the best of the rest.

Fillies and mares only in this small field. (7) LAMPYOJEONGGEENIE led from gate to wire to register her second career win over 1400M on April 24th. She comes up in class and in trip and despite not getting a weight drop, she can win again over what isn’t an especially intimidating set of rivals for the level. (5) BLACK TREE enters off a 2nd place at this class over 1400M on April 17th when racing close to the pace throughout. She carries an additional 2kg today, but she has won at his distance, and she shapes as a potential danger. (3) THE NOMINATE was a close 2nd at this class and distance two starts back before running 5th in a very quick race on May 3rd. She too carries more weight today but can be close. (2) ANN BUNNY and (1) GRAND CHASER others who can be considered on a place line.

Tricky race. (10) NAMSAN MINYEO has placed twice at this distance and while she didn’t go well on her latest when drawn in the same gate, she has had a couple of months off and been back to trial in the meantime. If she gets a bit of luck at the start and finds a forward position, she has as good a chance as any. (1) CUPID COMMAND has only been ordinary in his latest two but placed at this class and distance in January and from the inside gate and in more amenable company today, he can go close. (9) SOFT POWER was 3rd at class and distance in March (ahead of Namsan Minyeo) and while he got too far back in his latest, he can be given another chance here at an each-way price. Veteran (8) CHROMITE is in good form and along with (11) CHRYSOL MAJOR is at least a place chance.

He comes down slightly in trip, he draws much better, and he can win. (4) STUKA also overcame the wide gate to run 2nd on his latest at this class and distance on April 10th. He too comes into a better gate today and can be there or thereabouts again. (2) GWANGSOKMA doesn’t win out of turn but has placed in each of his last three at this class and distance. He’ll be on pace or handy and should be in the finish again. (8) KISS THE RAIN and up in class (11) FANTASTIC SANTA others who can be in the mix at longer odds.

He was beaten by a couple of these when finishing 5th as favourite on April 19th but he stays under a light weight, he comes into a much better gate, and he can be given another chance here. (7) BLACK SIDAE was 2nd in that April 19th race, having shown on pace throughout. He has won just the once in twenty-three attempts, but he has nine placings and he can be close again. (4) WILD MAGIC was a winner over 1700M on May 3rd, leading all the way. He comes up in class but already has a runner-up finish to his name over this trip, and he can measure up. Seo Seung-un stays on, and he can win again. (6) SEOBU CAPTAIN returned from almost nine months out to run 2nd in a very quick race at this class and distance on May 3rd, settling midfield and running on. He should have come on for that run, and he can be a danger again today. (8) OASIS WINNER has finished in 3rd place in each of his last five starts, all of them at this class and at either a mile or 1800M. He looked well in a trial two weeks ago and now back with Tony Castanheira, he can return to action with a win. (7) PASA KING won four in a row around this time last year but then was off from last July until this April. He didn’t do a whole lot on his return, but he should strip fitter for the run and can make progress here. (6) EUNBIT DOLPUNG was a winner over this distance at the end of March before finishing 3rd on her first try at this class on April 26th having led for the early part of the race. She comes down in weight and into a much better gate and she warrants another chance here. (5) GREAT TOP was 2nd in that April 24th race, showing on pace throughout. That was his first try at this class and continued a consistent run of form that can be further extended today. (3) PACHAMAMA was 3rd in that same race. (8) ELDORADO NOLBU was a beaten favourite in that April 19th race, coming from a long way back to finish 3rd. She was in good form prior and warrants another chance here. (9) FLYING DAY won over this distance two starts back before finishing a strong 2nd on her first try at this class over a mile on April 11th. She continues under a light weight and can be a big danger. (1) SSOARA STAR won at class and distance on March 2nd and while up in weight, is to be taken seriously.
