Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 30 Million
(8) WORLD VICS has two 3rd places and a 5th from three starts so far, racing on pace each time, most recently on March 29th. She’ll be on pace here and this time, she has every chance of going one better. (5) CHAOS also has two 3rd place finishes, in her case in consecutive races, most recently when favourite on March 15th over this distance when she led for much of the way around. Jang Chu-youl gets off and on to World Vics, but CC is a more than adequate replacement and she too has winning claims. (4) POWER MAGIC has a 4th and a 5th in two starts so far, most recently behind World Vics on March 29th. He draws well to be handy and should be in the finish again. (9) YEONDONG STAR and (11) DONGBAEK other place chances.

(4) SUPERTRAMP has made steady progress across three starts so far with his best being his latest when 4th at 1300M on April 11th when slow away and running on. While that was the second time he has taken the long way home, he is nicely drawn and can give a little bit more here. (2) SMART MINK has raced fourteen times and has never finished any better than 5th. She did that last time though on April 11th over this distance when coming from a wide draw and beating a couple of today’s rivals. This is one of the shallower fields she has been in so should be aiming for a best to date result. (5) COSMO JJIN has a 2nd place to her name two starts back over 1200M and that’s enough to have her in the numbers here. It’s hard to make a case for any of the others, with perhaps (3) RISING WIND – who was 3rd back in January – and (7) VICAR DRAGON, the best of a limited rest.

(4) KING BLACK arrested a run of four consecutive 4th place finishes with a strong 2nd place at this distance on April 5th when handy throughout. He comes into a better gate today and he will be favoured to go one better. (7) WORLD TREE was 3rh in that April 5th race, having led for much of the way throughout. After a 4th place at his previous start, that confirmed that he is figuring things out and Seo Seung-un climbing on for the first time, means a few will fancy him to overturn the form on the favourite. (6) JEONGMUN SKIP has five top five finishes from seven starts and enters off a good 3rd when stepped up to this trip for the first time on April 19th. Like the other two, he races best on pace and can be in this a long way. (1) LOOKS GOOD and (3) SKYNEX the next bests.

(8) SUPERDAY got his maiden win over 1300M in February and has held his form in two starts at this class with a 4th and most recently a 2nd place, again at 1300M, on April 5th when as usual, he raced handy to the speed. He comes up to 1400M for the first time, but it can suit and he will be a short price to score. (10) TOUR FELIX is yet to win in six attempts but comes up in class here following three placings, most recently a 3rd on his first try at this distance on April 4th. The class rise means a 4.5kg weight drop and that should be enough to make him competitive in this company. (9) SEUNGNI BAROWS had a hard time from an even wider gate last time out but going on his runner-up finish at this class and distance two starts back, warrants another chance here. (6) STUNNING STEP and the down in class (2) HERO JEONSA others in the hunt.

(3) BABEL FOLGORE has a 4th and a 5th from two starts so far at 1200M and 1300M, both times racing on pace. Third-up she can be peaking fitness-wise and drawing much better today, she can get an easier run to the front. (6) AEGIS CHEONMA ran a good 3rd on debut over this distance on April 10th, racing just behind the speed and beating a couple of today’s rivals in a good time. He should have come on for that run, and he will be disputing favourite status here. (10) GREAT LUCKY raced three times last year and was a much-improved 2nd in the last of those, all the way back in August. She ran well in an April trial and has every chance of a bold-showing first-up in this company. Among the three debut-makers, (1) KANGCHEOL YEONGMA was the best in trials and can be a minor money chance first up. (11) RANI, 6th on debut, can improve.

Seoul Race 4: Class 5 (1300M) Handicap / KRW 45 Million
This is a tricky one as none of them really enter with their recent form reading convincingly. Accordingly, we’ll take a chance on eighteen start maiden (7) MUHAN ARGO, who has been as good as any lately with back-to-back 4th places from his latest two, both at this distance. He continues under a light weight and so longs as he doesn’t get too far back, can win at what should be at least an each-way price. (2) YONGBI SHINHWA is a nine-start maiden but has six top five finishes. He has a 3rd and a 5th from his latest two and from a much better draw today, he should be a danger. (6) EAN PERFECT was a maiden winner over 1400M two starts back and while he was underwhelming on his firs try at this class, he has a decent finish on him and can run into some money. (5) GEOSEN PUNCH and (11) ROAD TO STAR are the other place chances.

(4) TWIN RAINBOW finished in midfield in the Luna Stakes a month ago and given the shallow field, it is perhaps surprising she isn’t given a chance in the Oaks later today. She has won at 1400M but perhaps she is seen as more of a sprinter so she cuts back in trip today and under a very light weight, she will be a short price favourite. She’ll need to overturn form on (6) BEOLMA BROWN, who was 3rd to Twin Rainbow’s 5th when they raced one another over 1400M in March. Beolma Brown has his fair share of weight here but can be competitive. Back in trip and in softer company, (2) MR. PRIME can return to the kind of form that saw him win his first two starts over this distance. (8) PLUTO was a winner at this class over a mile two starts back and is also proficient at this trip. He carries 4kg more than he did in that win but can be in the finish. (7) COLUMBIA CHAMP a place chance.

(3) POWER JILJU has made six of his eight starts over this trip, despite his win coming at 1400M. He has been growing into it and comes in off back-to-back 2nd places at this class, most recently beating a couple of today’s rivals on April 11th He likes to settle back and run on and with an apprentice jockey taking his weight down, he can go one better today. (1) JISAN LABEL ran 3rd behind Power Jilju in that April 11th race. He is yet to win in five attempts but that was an encouraging effort, and he can be close today. (10) THUNDER STORM is another non-winner but her recent form reads well and she can offer some each-way appeal here. (4) MADE and (9) ECLIPSE BAY others in the frame.

(10) THE POINT got his maiden win over 1200M in February and has run 3rd and 5th in two subsequent outings at this class, both times starting as favourite. He has a habit of jumping inward at the start but if he can overcome that, he can return to winning ways today. (7) ROAD TO NUMBER ONE was an all the way winner on debut over 1200M in February but got it wrong at start number two at this class and distance on April 3rd when leading but knocking up very quickly. She’s worth another chance here. (5) NAMHAE MAGIC was 4th at this class and distance on April 10th and staying under a light weight, he can match or better that here. (4) SWORN QUEEN and (11) WANNABE WITH YOU, both ahead of Road To Number One on April 3rd, are among other place chances.

Seoul Race 6: Class 4 (1400M) Handicap / KRW 60 Million
We’ll take a chance on (5) STORM CROWN here. He raced twice last year and then didn’t return until this April 18th when he was a creditable 5th of eleven over 1200M. He should strip fitter for that run, the step up in trip can suit, and he may offer some value. (10) BEOLGYO NAKSEONG has been working towards a maiden win and comes in off a 2nd place at this class and distance on April 4th when settling close to the pace and running on. He is up slightly in weight and has the challenge of a wide gate, but he is a big danger. (6) HWASAN POKPAL was a winner at this class over 1300M on March 29th when handy for most of the way. He is up 2kg in weight and this is a tougher field, but he shouldn’t be ruled out of going close again. (7) MIGHTY CODE and (1) SEMYEONG DIA are others who can be considered.

(5) GANGSEO TREND is a winner of two from four including over this distance at class 5 level in January. He used up plenty of energy to get on pace from a wide gate on his first try at this class over a mile on March 27th, ultimately dropping back to finish 5th, but back in trip and better drawn, he can return to winning ways. (11) MOMENTUM has mixed her form across seven starts so far but was a good winner over 1300M on April 3rd. She is up in class but is slightly down in weight and Seo Seung-un stays on. (8) MUJEOKYI wilted somewhat under a hot pace last time out but going on his 2nd place two outings back at this class over 1200M, he is worth another chance here. (6) DAEGIL HERO and (7) NAEPYEON among others in the hunt.

A winner of two from five, (8) PAS DE CHEVAL probably should have got up to win on his first try at this class and distance on March 8th before running 4th on April 11th. CC climbs aboard for the first time and he should make it third time lucky around 1700M. (5) FLYING THUNDER has won her latest two in all the way fashion to come rapidly up in class. She comes up in trip too but looks to have plenty of potential. (3) POWERFUL IMPACT has similarly won his latest two after taking a while to figure things out. In his case they have been at 1700M and 1800M, both times leading all the way and down in weight and nicely drawn, he can measure up in this company. Busan Race 6: Class Open (1800M) Special Weight A / Korean Oaks (KOR G2) / KRW 700 Million
The second leg of the Triple Tiara. (9) CLEARLY WINNER won the first leg, the Luna Stakes, on April 5th, settling back after a slow start before steadily improving and ultimately scoring well. Her only defeat so far came at Listed level against the boys, and there is no reason why the step up to 1800M can’t suit. (4) CHIEF STAR is a four-time winner although Busan has not been a happy place for her as she had to be scratched in the gate prior to the Breeders’ Cup Rookie and then went too quick in the Luna and having led, stopping quicker than any of the other fifteen runners. No doubt about her ability and if she can set a more sensible pace here, she is a chance. (3) TIGER ROAR was 6th in the Luna, coming from well off the pace. The step up in trip can suit and she is a place chance. (2) CATCH RACE and (1) RUSH WILD others who may step up.

Seoul Race 8: Clas 1 (1400M) Handicap / Sports Kyunghyang Trophy / KRW 110 Million
Class 1 but with a rating band of 75-100. (1) BEST RACE enters having run 6th of fifteen in Listed company in February and then 2nd and 3rd in two outings at class 1, both over this distance and beating a couple of today’s rivals in the process. He comes back up to a distance at which he has won five of six starts, and he is favoured to win here. (5) ZIGGURAT beat Best Race when 3rd in that February Listed race before running 2nd over 1800M on March 29th. He won a similar race to this back in January and while he has a big weight here, he is the danger. (4) MAGLE DAY is a deep closer so it’s interesting to see him cut back in trip. He is a two-time winner over this distance and under a light weight, he could be a chance. (7) GIANT STEP and (3) YONGAM SESANG are the other two likely to be in the market.

He’ll be a warm favourite to go one better this time. (2) NANEUN KKUM was a class and distance winner two starts back before being a well beaten favourite on April 10th when according to his jockey, he got excessive kickback. He’s worth another chance here. (10) SUN LIGHT was 2nd in that April 10th race, coming from off the pace to continue a very consistent run of form. Remarkably she’s yet to win but that was her sixth runner-up finish and she should be there or thereabouts again under another light weight. He got twelve rating points for that which translates to an additional 6kg, but the manner of that win suggests he can repeat. (6) CHOEGO GOLD has been working back towards a second win, and it duly arrived over this distance on April 18th when racing on pace. He is up in class but gets a weight drop and can measure up. That brings her rapidly up to this class but from a good draw, she can be on pace again and she can step up again. (4) SSAK DANAEUN needs a line drawn through her latest when on pace over 1400M when handy but not running on. She is a two-time winner at this distance and from a good draw, she can be given another chance. She’s not alone in being ordinary last time out. (6) RAON THE KEISHA was a well beaten 6th on March 21st but if we go on her 3rd place two starts back at this class and distance, she too can be given another opportunity here. (1) MY SUPERMAN and (8) DUSON EUTTEUM are others who are perhaps a bit better than their respective latest efforts suggest.
