Consistent galloper SUPER EXPRESS looks well placed to secure his third career victory when he returns to Sha Tin for Sunday’s Class 3 Handicap over 1400m.
He has been the model of consistency, finishing in the placings at all seven starts to date, with two wins and five runner-up efforts. After a solid first-up performance in mid-January, the son of Ten Sovereigns broke through with a convincing win in this grade. Last time out, he was inconvenienced by a slowly run race but still finished strongly to go down by just half a length over this course and distance.
Clearly the benchmark runner in this line-up, SUPER EXPRESS shapes as the leading contender as he remains in Class 3. The main threat appears to be WINNING OVATION, who resumes from an injury-enforced break after an easy win in this grade.
Quality sprinter MAGNIFIQUE is primed to secure his fifth career win in the Class 3 Handicap over 1200m on the All-Weather track at Sha Tin this Sunday.
Boasting an impressive record of four wins from six starts, MAGNIFIQUE won first-up this preparation to extend his winning run to two before finishing a luckless third over this track and distance last time out. The Charm Spirit gelding travelled wide throughout from an awkward draw but still stuck on gamely to finish just one length from the winner. The strong early tempo also added further merit to the performance.
Despite meeting a competitive field this week, MAGNIFIQUE should enjoy a favourable run from an ideal draw and can prove hard to run down under jockey James Orman.
