There will be numerous runners backing up from last Sunday’s meeting at Perak Turf Club and one of those could kick off a positive result for punters when FIGHT TO WIN lines up in the 1600 Class 5B contest (Race 1). Despite the wide draw and the 58kg to carry, the four-year-old strikes a winnable race his last start 2nd behind the inform THUNDERGOD. The gelding has posted his two career victories at this track and distance and looks a chance of returning to winning form.
THUNDERGOD has struck form after clocking the winning hat trick last Sunday and will step up to the “A” division of the 1600m Class 5 (Rae 2) carrying the same weight of 59kg. It may be a slightly harder assignment for the eight-year-old but his barrier speed has proven to be a valuable asset recently when leading throughout at each of his last three wins. The gelding will have to overcome barrier nine as veteran hoop S Salee retains the mount. The likes of MAVERICK, A BETTER TOMORROW and ONEMOREFORTHEROAD have been thereabouts in recent contests but they do not win too often. Veteran campaigner, COLONEL CHIEF came close to scoring last weekend and cannot be left out of calculations.
The first of two Class 4 events over 1200m (Race 4) features a couple of Kevin Coetzee runners with genuine chances. TALKINGTALKINGGURU, whose four-win streak came to a halt last Sunday, will clash with PEAKY BLINDER which caught the eye flashing home to finish second over 1400m last Sunday. PEAKY BLINDER scored from a similar rating (55 pts) back in August and recent performances in the local high-grade races have been encouraging. Former Australian galloper LUCKY LYLE should be primed followed two runs this preparation and is expected to feature since coming off his second placing in a 1400m Enrich Stakes A contest four weeks ago.
YOU THINK SO is the value selection in the other division of the 1200m Class 4 (Race 7) and looks ideally placed for a winning return. Already a two-time winner in the grade, the Hamsha Aloysius trained six-year-old has started twice at Ipoh for a win and one second and his recent form on his home track in Selangor has held up well and can strike back with the 56.5kg.
Locally trained ten-year-old, BIONICS has descended to a career low rating of 25 points and strikes a winnable 1200m Class 5B contest (Race 8). A few of his opposition are currently racing below their best form at present and BIONICS could grab the opportunity to record his fourth win for the year. One to watch is the Selangor based four-year-old PULSE BOMB, which has only scored once but has maintained solid form on his home track recently. Trainer Richard Lines trained a double at last Sunday’s meeting and PULSE BOMB is a definite watch for his first start on the Ipoh circuit.
