An intriguing weight turnaround highlights Race 6, the A Stakes over 1000m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday, where Dean Street looks poised for his eighth career victory. The evergreen sprinter thrives at this track, rarely missing the money in eight starts, and now meets Arctic Wizard 3kg better off after finishing just 0.5 lengths behind him last time. That swing could be decisive.
Un Bel Di was further back in that race and may still find a few too good despite a 2.5kg claim. Kaiboy, who previously beat Dean Street in July, faces a 2.5kg disadvantage and returns from a layoff, raising fitness questions. Richard Fourie drops to 54.5kg to ride Dean Street for the Lucinda Woodruff stable—an encouraging sign.
Arctic Wizard remains a major threat. Lightly raced and now a four-year-old, he looks ready to peak and secure a stakes win. Raven Black, talented but injury-prone, and Ziyasha, a Bantry Bay Stakes winner returning from a break, are also ones to note.
Among the supporting races, Gimmie Rules (Race 9, 1250m) — a full brother to Gimme A Prince — is one of the most exciting three-year-olds around. After a luckless second run, he’s expected to bounce back strongly.
In Race 1, Objet D’Art and Fox On The Run look capable maidens, while debutant Close Encounter warrants attention. Freedom Fighter (Race 2) brings Grade 1-linked form and could score if fit, with Madra Rua and Sliver Of Sunshine respected.
Elsewhere, Wander Dune (Race 4) can return to winning ways, though Viva La Vida poses a serious danger. Artiste (Race 8) drops in class and may resume on a winning note, while Du Maurier (Race 7) and Winteronthegreen (Race 5) remain progressive and worth following.
