Good For You to confirm Grade 1 form

Good For You

Good For You, one of last season’s standout two-year-olds, returns in Race 3 over 1250m at Hollywoodbets Durbanville on Wednesday — his first run since winning the Grade 1 Gold Medallion at Scottsville in June. That hard-fought victory, which gave Chad Little his first Grade 1 success, confirmed the high regard trainer Glen Kotzen has always held for this son of Potala Palace. Now a three-year-old, he begins his campaign toward bigger Cape features, including the Grade 3 Cape Classic, Grade 2 Cape Punters Cup, and ultimately the Grade 1 Cape Guineas in December.

Kotzen wisely rested him through the KZN season, allowing him to mature. While this comeback run is a prep, he remains the class act of the field. Jockey Chad Little retains the ride.

The main danger is All The Rage, a rapidly improving colt who could follow a similar path if he stays 1600m. Though he carries 1kg more than Good For You, he’s fitter and poses a genuine threat. Gimmelightning, consistent at a high level, is another to include after his good third behind Jet Force.

Elsewhere on the card, Prince Of Egypt looks hard to oppose in Race 1 despite a wide draw, while Nannie Gold can progress in Race 2 under Serino Moodley. Beware is one to watch in Race 4 after flashing potential on debut, and Reet Petite could remain unbeaten in Race 5 if she avoids pressure from older rivals.

Prince Of Tibet is back in form for Piet Steyn, while Viva’s Liberte — a smart debut winner — is one to follow for the future. The meeting closes with Electromagnetism and Ukuduma renewing rivalry, while Chapbook makes an intriguing Cape debut for Clinton Binda and could be tough to beat.
