It is back to the turf this Friday at Fairview and there are some decent horses on show. It is not often that short-priced favourites go to post at this track, but Alan Greeff-trained Anotherdanceforme is surely going to be the shortest price seen all year. She lines up in Race 6, the ROA Plate for three-year-olds over 1400m.
The Master Of My Fate filly had a brilliant juvenile season, winning all five of her starts. Her latest was probably the best of the lot, as she hung right across the Greyville track and still managed to beat some quality runners over this distance. This will be her first start as a three-year-old and is clearly a preparation race for the season, but with only five other runners taking her on — two of them stable companions — she is very hard to oppose.
Jockey Richard Fourie has partnered her in four of those wins, including her latest.
Augusta Rosso was 5.75 lengths adrift of Anotherdanceforme when they met on 9 May over 1200m at Fairview, and she is 5kg better off with her rival this time. In theory, that gives her a chance, but Anotherdanceforme has made big progress since then.
Stablemate Augusta Rosso did win her latest start when blinkers worked a trick, so it is a surprise to see her carded without that equipment. Another stable companion, Wild Fig, can also get involved in the finish.
The Fire Away gelding is not an easy ride, but he is improving and was a narrow winner over a rival that has since gone on to win twice.
The feature race on this card is Race 7, the Cradock Stakes over 1200m, and it looks very interesting. The Greeff – Fourie team is well represented by Fairy Knight. The Global View gelding remains in good form and has finished runner-up in his last two starts, the latest when 3.25 lengths behind Song Of Myself over 1000m at this track. He clearly found that trip a bit sharp and now meets that rival on 3.5kg better terms.
Song Of Myself was impressive that day and was full of running, but she will need to prove she is as good over this distance.
Snaith Racing are represented by Royal Aussie, who is capable of breaking a long losing run.
