Seoul Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
After running 5th on debut, (1) JIJON BULPAE was an improved 3rd at start number two on August 23rd when handy throughout. He comes into a better gate today and can be expected to be on pace and to go all the way. (9) GEOLJAK TIARA was 5th on debut over 1000M on August 23rd, running on well. She should have come on for the run and the step up in trip can suit. Similarly (11) GEOMEUN SUP was a fair 4th on debut on August 16th, also at 1000M. She too should have derived benefit from that and can be a danger here. (2) CLUTCH MAN and (4) AMOS STAR are others who can improve.

(7) GLOBAL TIME returned from seven months off to run 2nd at this class and distance on August 24th, showing on pace throughout. He should strip fitter for that run and has every chance of going one better today. (1) NAOL PASS was a winner on debut over 1000M in July before finishing 5th of ten in the Rookie Stakes on August 17th. She drops back into more amenable company here and with Moon Se-young staying on, she will have plenty of backers to win here. (2) WONDERFUL DONGCHON has two 2nd places and a 4th in three tries at this level since getting his maiden win at this trip back in January. He comes in fresh after a three-month absence, but an apprentice keeps his carried weight down and he draws well. (5) P N S OHOH and (3) MUNHAK FIGHTER others in the hunt.

Fillies only here and there are three standouts. (9) GHOST GALE enters off a close runner-up finish at this distance on August 24th when she was on pace throughout. For what it’s worth, she has the fastest time among these for the distance and with a good start, she can go all the way. (4) RAON PARANOMA has improved across her outings, culminating in 2nd at this trip on July 13th when she led for most of the way. She has had ten weeks out so comes in fresh but can be a big player. (10) FOX TROT rounds out the main trio of chances. She too enters off a runner-up finish in her latest, over 1400M on August 17th. The wide draw shouldn’t be a problem, and she can be challenging late. (11) ROAD TO SPEAR and (3) OUTSTANDING GIRL others in the frame.

Busan Race 1: Class 6 (1200M) Special Weight A / KRW 45 Million
Juvenile maidens with six of the twelve racing for the first time. We’ll side with a debut-maker and (10) FUNNY WILD. The Bayern colt was an eye-catching trial winner in July, settling midfield before pulling away to score in a quick time. It’s taken him a while to get to the races. but he doesn’t appear to have missed much work since the trial, and he can win first-up. (4) PORT MORE was a trial winner in late June and then debuted in the Rookie Stakes in August. That proved a hard ask and he only beat three but should have come on for the experience and this is more suitable. (7) WORLD GOAT and (5) QUEEN PERFECT both ran on late on their respective debuts and should prefer the extended trip today. (12) BULBIT GANGJA is another debut maker who hinted at ability in a trial.

(4) HIT FLY returned from more than three months out and ran 2nd in a quick race at this class and distance on August 24th, coming from well off the pace. She should strip fitter for that run and will be strongly favoured to go one better today. (3) MORNING WONDER was a maiden winner at 1200M on April 4th and then ran a very close 2nd on her first try at this class and distance at the start of June. She has had sixteen weeks off since then but has been back in work since late August and can go well first up. (1) STEEPLE was a winner at start two over 1000M on August 23rd, showing on pace throughout. She is up in class and in trip but can measure up. (6) WONDERFUL N.B. and (8) WONDERFUL SEEKING among other place chances.

(9) SERYEONDOENWISUN took a couple of goes to figure thing sou tut has a 4th and a 3rd from his latest two at 1200M and 1300M, coming from off the pace both times. The slight step up in trip can be just what he needs to make his maiden breakthrough. (2) HOLY NIKE has made steady progress across three starts so far with his latest his best when 2nd at 1200M on August 31st, overcoming the widest gate, albeit it to be well beaten by a good winner. He comes into a better gate today and going one better isn’t impossible. (8) NEVERSTOP HEEMANG returns to action for the first time in more than a year and having looked well in a trial in August, can be considered on an each-way basis. (4) RACE MARINE and (5) DELEKOOMDA others in the placing frame.

Surprisingly beaten on debut before winning convincingly at start two, (10) AIRFORCEONE was disappointing when well back in the Rookie Stakes last month. Those first two efforts were strong enough to warrant him another chance on top here. (3) WONPYEONG GANGJA got his sole win all the way back at start number three but has been working towards another, culminating in 2nd place last time out on August 16th at this class and distance. A brand-new apprentice jockey on his first weekend of race riding takes 4kg off his back and nicely drawn, he is a chance. (5) HIGH FOLLY was 3rd at class and distance last time out. He should be on pace and can be in the mix again. (4) GWANAKSAN WONDERFUL and (2) ARCH RUNNER are others who can compete for the minors.

(11) TUHON FIGHTER won at this class over 1300M two starts back before running 2nd at the same distance on August 17th. Tactically versatile, the wide draw shouldn’t be a problem and the step up to the mile for the first time can suit. (1) GEUMA REJOICE finally broke through at start number fourteen over this class and distance on August 15th, coming from off the pace. She comes into a better gate and is under almost the same weight and while lightning may not strike twice, Franco stays on and she can be in the finish again. (4) POWER WAGON has a win and a 4th from his latest two, both at 1400M at this class. He is another tackling a mile for the first time and he should be on pace and in this a long way. (2) POWER TIME and (7) HEUIMANG GUNJU are others in the frame.

(6) IMRO comes in a class and distance winner having won a very quick race on July 19th, racing handy throughout. He is up 4kg in weight but is fresh after two months out and he can be on pace and win again. (2) AQUA LINE won last year’s Breeders’ Cup Rookie but hasn’t made an impact in two starts back following eight months out. He ran out of class last time but comes back down here and if he is to recover his form, third-up is perhaps the most likely time for him to do it. (4) CHEONGUNG STORM is ultra consistent and enters following a win and a 3rd place, both at this class over 1700M and both times on the pace. He draws well to get forward early and he should be in this a long way. (8) GOLD CATCHER is up in class and in trip but is down in weight and can be competitive. (7) BOLLIN another place chance.

(8) VANGIE has won two of his latest three, most recently over this distance on August 24th. He comes up in class but is down in weight and he has every chance of winning again, probably settling midfield and utilizing his strong finish. (4) ROAD STAR has finished 3rd in all her latest three, all at this class and distance and all in very quick times. She will be on pace and while she may find one too quick again, she is the main danger. (9) YULIM SESANG was a class and distance winner on August 22nd, leading for most of the way. He comes up 5kg in the weights but can be in the mix again. (6) COLUMBIA CHAMP and (3) are the other main chances.

(10) NAMSAN BELT was an all the way winner on debut over 1000M on August 16th with three of today’s rivals behind her. She comes up in trip today and has the challenge of a wide draw, but her stable remains bang in form, she stays under a light weight, and she can make it two from two. (8) K N ROSE was 3rd on debut in that same August 16th race, showing handy throughout. She too should have come on for that run and can be close again today. (1) MY EMPIRE was 5th in that race and followed it up with the same finish on August 30th. She comes into a better gate today and can be aiming to go better in this company. (7) CYCLONE POWER races for the first time since last November but he won an August trial and Moon’s booking ensures plenty of backers. (3) MALHANEUNDAERO another place chance.

He comes up 3.5kg in weight but draws very nicely to get to the lead again and he will be a warm favourite. (8) GOOD DADDY comes up in class having won in similarly front-running fashion on August 29th. He is down in weight and can measure up at this level (1) SINCHON DOKSURI is an import who began at this class and while he is yet to finish in the top two, he has a 3rd and a 4th among his latest three, the latter at this distance on August 22nd. He can aim to match or better those in this company. (6) DIA GRIT and (2) THE WIND others to consider on a place line.

Seoul Race 8: Class Open (1400M) Special Weight A / Jeju Governor’s Cup (KOR G3) / KRW 500 Million
The Queens’ Tour Fall & Winter for fillies and mares kicks off and there is a big field of fifteen. (15) CROWN HAMSEONG looked set to contend the Korea Sprint two weeks ago but swerved it in favour of this. She was a runner up in the Ttukseom Cup at this distance in the Queens’ Tour this spring and she looked well in an August trial. She has to navigate the widest gate, but she can win. (4) JEULGEOUNYEOJEONG won that Ttukseom Cup in April and has the most impressive body of work of any filly or mare in the country. She hasn’t race since coming back lame in the KNN Cup in June when she was 5th as favourite. She looked well when winning a trial at the end of August and the defending champion is a big chance first up. (14) RAON FOREST won the KNN Cup and likewise races for the first time since. She won a keep-busy July trial and should be close. (13) GLADIUS and (7) BORYEONGLIGHTQUEEN are others who will have support.

(8) YEONGGWANGUIFIRST found himself overmatched at level weights in the KRA Cup Classic at Seoul last month but was in fine form prior to that. He has two wins and four 2nd places in six attempts at this distance and returning to shallower waters under a light weight, he is the one to beat. (2) DOCTOR CAESAR and (1) BEOLGYOUI KKUM ran 1st and 2nd when they raced one another at 1200M on August 2nd. Interestingly the weight swing favours Doctor Caesar and with both having run well at two turns before, they can be in the finish again. (9) CAPTAIN YANKEE races for the first time since finishing down the field in the Busan Mayor’s Cup in May. This is the kind of company in which the double Classic winner can challenge. (10) KYLIE beat three of today’s rivals on her way to 3rd at this class over a mile on August 16th continuing the best run of form of her career. She stays under a light weight, and she can be in the finish again. (3) BRIGHT KAI was 5th in that August 16th race having won at this class over 1400M two outings back. He holds a win over this trip and from a great draw he can get an easy run to the lead and potentially go all the way. The danger is (10) AWESOME QUEEN. She has a 3rd and two 2nd place finishes since being promoted to this level, most recently a near miss on her first time around two turns at 1700M on August 24th. She has the challenge of the widest gate, but she can step up. (8) FASHION STAR has won her latest two, both over this distance and gets promoted to class 4 today. (9) GRAY CHARLIE returned from ten months off to run a close 2nd at this distance on August 3rd. That brings him up in class today, but he should strip fitter for the run, he comes down a full 6kg in weight, and he can be a danger.
