Consistent performer MAN OF ACTION looks well poised for a return to the winner’s circle in the 1400m Cosmo C contest at Ipoh on Sunday.
A three-time winner in Singapore, MAN OF ACTION made an immediate impact on the Malaysian racing scene with a victory on his local debut in February. Since then, the Kevin Coetzee-trained six-year-old has continued to progress, notching up three wins from six Malaysian starts.
Most recently, he stepped up to his toughest test yet — the Group 1 Perak Gold Vase — where he impressed with a strong performance. After settling last at the 400m, he produced a powerful finish over the 1100m trip to run a credible fourth, just four lengths off the winner.
A previous winner at both the track and distance, MAN OF ACTION will be hard to beat despite the 5kg weight rise. His form and fighting spirit make him a leading contender this weekend.
Promising three-year-old galloper AUTHORITY looks well placed to make it two wins from as many starts in the 1000m Class 4A contest this Sunday.
Trained by Brian Dean, AUTHORITY made a strong impression on debut when sent out a long odds-on favourite in a 1000m Restricted Maiden on June 28. He justified the market support with a convincing 1.25-length victory, despite showing some greenness and laying inwards over the concluding stages.
While he now steps up in class and faces more seasoned opposition from the outside barrier, AUTHORITY appears to have the talent and scope to handle the challenge. With natural improvement expected, he shapes as a strong contender once again.
