Trainer Alan Greeff is having his best season yet, and he can reel in some more winners at Fairview on the Polytrack on Friday.
It could start as early as the first race, as it looks hard to go past his pair. Make Believe produced the better debut of the two runners but it is his stable companion, Wishes And Dreams, that Richard Fourie will ride – which is very interesting, as Wishes And Dreams was a bitter disappointment on debut.
In Race 2, their runner Green Okra produced a fine local debut, but she may have a serious challenger in unlucky-so-far Grand Allegro, and that Swinger looks a worthwhile bet.
The runners lining up in Race 3 are a disappointing lot and it may pay to give Fantasy Girl one last shot. She found traffic problems in her latest start and did not run badly. Stepping up in trip might just be what she has been looking for.
A race later, in Race 4, Greeff has more than one runner with a winning chance but Jack In The Green, consistent on the Polytrack, may follow up. A bad draw of No 12 will not make it easy for Fourie, but he may well be up to the task.
In Race 6, a MR 82 Handicap for fillies and mares over 1200m, Greeff-trained fillies Strata and Sharapova should fight out the finish. Strata won her first two starts since switching to Greeff earlier this year and was not disgraced in her last two.
Fourie has stuck with her, but she will have to fight off her very consistent stable companion Sharapova, who is proven over course and distance and is at the top of her game.
