C1 – PRIX DE GRANVILLE – 1200m (a6f) – TURF – Maiden Race – Flat – EUR€ 30,000
1. JAWWAL – Decent 2nd last time over 1200m at Chantilly on July 2nd in a maiden. Looks progressive and can score
2. MAHJONG – 6th last time, 2nd before that over 1100m at Chantilly on June 2nd on his debut. One to keep safe
3. ALEKSINE – Ran well when 3rd at Chantilly over 1200m on July 2nd in a maiden. Can have a say
4. WOODY – 2nd on his debut at Le Lion D’Angers over 1400m on July 11th on his sole start. Should improve although others are preferred
5. HEMEVEZ – 4th on debut in the same Chantilly race as a few of today’s rivals on July 2nd over 1200m. Should improve and has place claims
6. IRONICO – Newcomer by Gift Box, from a shrewd stable that can ready a debutante. Watch the betting for clues
7. CAMBODGE – Newcomer by Telecaster, the dam won one race. Likely to need this debut run. Any market support should be noted
Summary: JAWWAL (1) has made progress on each run so far and was a pleasing second at Chantilly earlier this month on his latest run. He should edge this over the main danger ALEKSINE (3) who was third in the Chantilly race and has not got much ground to find to reverse that form. MAHJONG (2) also ran in the same race and was last of the six runners that day. He should show more this time. IRONICO (6) is one to watch in the betting on debut for any support.

1. STAR OF BRITTANY – 6th on her sole start over 1400m at Saint-Cloud on June 4th. Should know what is required this time and can not be ruled out
2. COREY BEACH – 4th on her debut at this track on July 7th over 1200m when behind two of her rivals she meets again this time. Has outside place claims
3. SOMETHING BLUE – 6th last time over 1200m at Chantilly on July 2nd on her sole start. More needed to be involved
4. LA FLAMINIA – Two unplaced runs so far, the latter over 1400m on June 26th at Chantilly. Hard to recommend
5. STUPOR MUNDI – 4th last time at Chantilly on July 2nd over 1200m on her second start. Needs a few to falter
6. VICTORY CALL – Nice 3rd on July 7th at this track when IRON BIRD (7) was less than a length in front of her in second that day. She can improve and is a player
7. IRON BIRD – Nice 2nd on her debut at this track over 1200m on July 7th. She will improve and can be competitive under Maxime Guyon
8. BETTER TOGETHER – Unraced filly by Oasis Dream, the dam was a useful performer who won and was placed in Listed and Group races. Should know her job and a bold show can be expected
Summary: IRON BIRD (7) did almost everything right on her debut at this track on July 7th when second under a sympathetic ride. She will be sharper for that promising run and can edge this over the well-bred newcomer BETTER TOGETHER (8). who has a nice profile and is out of a smart mare who was Pattern race placed. VICTORY CALL (6) was less than a length behind the main selection when third on her debut and can not be overlooked. STAR OF BRITTANY (1) can also improve from her latest run.

1. AMERICAN LAWYER – 3rd on the last two runs, the latter over 2000m in a handicap at
Parislongchamp on July 4th. Can feature
2. GET TOGETHER – Won a Class 2 race last time at Vichy over 2000m on July 20th. Ought to be in the shake-up
3. PALAZZO – 4th last time over 1600m in a Class 2 race at La Teste on June 28th. Might find a few of these too smart
4. FANATIC – Good 2nd last time over 2000m at Toulouse in a Class 2 race on June 19th. Has won on the PSF on debut at Chantilly and looks like the one to beat
5. CONTENTIOUS SOUL – Unplaced on the last two runs, 4th before that over 1600m in a Class 2 race at Le Mans on April 23rd. Others make more appeal
6. DAZZLING JEWEL – 5th last time, won before that over 2000m in a Class 3 race at Strasbourg on June 13th. Place chance
Summary: FANATIC (4) won on debut on the PSF at Chantilly in February, so will have no concern on this surface. He has run well on all his runs since that victory and was a pleasing second last time when beaten by a narrow margin on turf at Toulouse in June. He should get the better of his likely main danger AMERICAN LAWYER (1) who has had two good runs of late since winning his maiden in April. GET TOGETHER (2) and DAZZLING JEWEL (6) can fight it out for minor honours.

2. RIYAK – Has four unplaced runs this year, the latter over 1600m in a Class 4 race at Compiegne on June 7th. Opposable
3. MELBORA – 3rd two runs ago over 2000m at Parislongchamp on June 13th in a Class 4 race. Can be competitive
4. A NOS SOUVENIRS – Won two runs back over 2000m at Le Lion D’Angetrs in a Class 4
handicap on June 9th. Has won on the PSF at Pornichet before. Merits consideration
5. MARTIAL ART – Unplaced last time, 2nd before that over 2100m at Chantilly on June 11th in a Class 4 race. Each way option
6. LUCI DEL FARO – Fair 3rd last time over track and trip in a Class 3 handicap on July 6th. Ought to be on the premises
7. POLMINHAC – Won three runs ago over course and distance in a Class 4 handicap on April 9th. Needs to put two poor runs behind him of late
8. RADETSKY MARSCH – 6th last time over course and distance on July 6th when beaten under two lengths. Did win on the PSF in the UK last year. Player
9. L’HIPPOCAMPE – Unplaced last time, good 2nd before that at Dieppe in a Class 4 race on May 29th over 1800m. Has won over track and trip in April and can play a lead role
10. CHIEF MAMBO – 5th last time at Chantilly in a Class 4 race over 1900m on May 17th, has won over track/trip in 2022. Outside place chance
11. JACKY – Nice 2nd last time at this track over 1900m in a Class 4 handicap on July 6th. Has won here in 2022. One to keep safe
12. MAKTAVA – Won last time over course and distance in a Class 4 handicap on July 6th. Is not ideally drawn in 16 and others are preferred
13. PEARL HARBOUR – 2nd last time over 2000m in a Class 4 handicap at Strasbourg on July 8th. Course form is uninspiring
14. AL JAROUD – Two unplaced runs of late, 2nd before that over 1900m in a Class 3 handicap over 1900m at Chantilly on March 14th. Can make the frame at nice odds

Summary: L’HIPPOCAMPE (9) is a previous course and distance winner and was a good second two runs ago at Dieppe at the end of May. He is capable of playing a lead role. RADETSKY MARSCH (8) was not beaten far over course and distance last time when he was a close-up sixth earlier this month in a handicap. He can not be overlooked. MARTIAL ART (5) has yet to win but looks like a fair option each way. LUCI DEL FARO (6) makes up the shortlist.
