Summary: SHAMARKAND (1) is progressing with race experience and won nicely at Lyon Parilly
in late April. He will be hard to beat. DJHANSY (3) confirmed the promise she showed when third
on her debut by winning last time at Angers over 2100m on May 21st. She can give the selection
the most to do. SWEET SUNDOWNER (4) found a Class 1 race a bit too much last time but ran
well before that when second in a Class 2 race and makes up the shortlist.

ALEX (1) scored two starts ago at Morlaix and is one to keep safe. SWEET FORTUNE (3)will be
sharper for a couple of recent runs and ought to be in the shake-up.

11. BETISE – Newcomer by Romanised, the dam won twice including a Listed race. Will be
expected to make a bold show on her debut
12. VICTORIA STORM – Unraced filly by Birchwood, from a stable that is not known for debut
winners. Any market support should be noted
13. MIEL – Unraced filly by Dabirsim, will likely improve for this outing. The betting can be the
best guide
Summary: BETISE (11) is choice bred. He dam was a useful performer who won at Listed Class.
She will be well-tuned by her trainer to make a winning debut. OUT OF AFRICA (9) could be the
one to make the selection work the hardest. She is nicely bred and will be well prepared for her
debut. LIBYAN PHAROAH (1) is out of a useful mare who was placed in a Group 3 race. He can
not be overlooked. EMIV (10) looks best of the remainder.

MORNING FIVE (2) is one to include in all of the place bet permutations. CRASY DAY (9)
warrants respect and looks best of the remainder.

Summary: KALEONA (3) can put behind her a below-par effort last time and bounce back to
form in this handicap. She was a good second at Angers on her penultimate start on May 4th.
ALMAGRO (1) has solid claims even with the most weight to carry. GARRY D’AZE (13) is one to
look at from an each-way angle. DON’T WATCH ME CRY (10) has a nice racing weight and has
been second on the last two runs. She can be on the premises.

2. TESTIMONIO – Consistent gelding with the form and experience to play a leading role,
especially after a recent 3rd over 2300m at Tarbes on 11 May. Keep safe
3. XILOFONO – Improving Spanish-trained gelding. Finished 2nd in consecutive recent outings in
Madrid, the latest over 2100m on 2 May
4. BARLAFUS – Finished a modest 9th on debut at La Teste over 1800m on 17 May but would
have gained from that experience. Not underestimated
5. MELVILLE – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut, behind TESTIMONIO (2), over 2300m at
Tarbes on 20 April. Improvement expected
6. EXACTAMUNDO – Confirmed the promise of her debut 2nd at Toulouse by filling the runners
up berth again over 2300m at Tarbes on 11 May. Sets the standard
7. WINI STAR – Finished a well-beaten 11th on debut at La Teste over 1800m on 17 May.
Would’ve gained from that experience but is best watched for now
8. OLATZ DE VEGA – Cost almost €100,000 in 2022 and was unlucky not to have achieved a
better (than 10th) finishing position over 1800m on her debut at La Teste on 17 May. Not taken
lightly
9. POKER – Tornibush colt on debut with Antoine Werlé in the irons for trainer Céline Hérisson de
Beauvoir. Watch for now
10. LE MAGICIEN – Jacques Piednoel-trained Intello gelding to be ridden on debut by Romain
Dubord, whose 2,5kg allowance will aid this runner’s cause
11. MAYBEWELL – Newcomer trained by Philippe Sogorb, who has engaged Shana Topin
(3,5kg allowance) to ride this Almanzor gelding
12. PRETTY STORM – Philippe Sogorb-trained Storm The Seas filly to be ridden on debut by
Alejandro Gutierrez Val. Warrants respect under a lightweight
Summary: Having finished 2nd in both starts, EXACTAMUNDO (6) needn’t improve to open her
account and is good value to shed her maiden in this opening event. OLATZ DE VEGA (8), from
the formidable Jean-Claude Rouget stable, would’ve come on appreciably since her debut and
could make life difficult for the selection if making the expected improvement. The same applies
to MELVILLE (5) who is likely to make his presence felt too after an encouraging introduction
(4th). Newcomer PRETTY STORM (12) isn’t underestimated.

demoted after a stewards’ inquiry. Could only finish 8th in a 2300m Tarbes handicap last time (11
May) – not taken lightly at this level
3. BLACKMOON DU MAZET – Open to improvement with the benefit of an introductory outing
under his belt. Finished 9th at Royan on debut over 2900m and would’ve come on with that
experience
4. UGATZAI – Consistent colt with sound references/form credentials, including a respectable 7th
in a handicap over 1800m at Marseille-Borely on 31 May
5. ANTARES – Well-beaten 9th of 11 in a 2000m handicap at La Teste on 17 May but shouldn’t
be hastily condemned. Finished 2nd over 1800m at Langon in her previous outing, so is capable
of a better performance
6. IVANIVKA – Improved markedly with the benefit of an introductory outing (12th) under her belt
to finish 5th over 2300m at Tarbes on 20 April Should have more to offer, especially at this level
7. YIRA – Failed to build on the promise of her debut 4th in Spain when only 6th over 2100m in
Madrid on 2 May. Outsider
8. CARADURA – Unplaced in two starts – finished 8th on both occasions – the latest over 1500m
at Tarbes on 11 May. Will need to improve
9. AMADORA – Twice 2nd, once 3rd, and three times 4th in her 6 appearances on Spanish soil
before finishing an encouraging 6th over 1900m at Bordeaux in her French debut on 25 May.
Dark horse
10. BEAUTIFULL RISK – Has made encouraging improvement to finish 3rd in consecutive recent
starts, the latest at Bordeaux on 25 May over 1900m. Place chance
11. HOPEFULLY – Out of sorts recently (finished 7th over 2100m at Marseille-Borely on 31 May)
but has legitimate claims if judged on her best form, which includes a good 2nd over 2000m at La
Teste in March. Respected on debut at this level
12. ES XARCU – Consistent, lightly raced filly with solid form references/credentials – in 5 starts,
has finished 3rd twice and 4th three times, including consecutive recent outings (the latest at
ParisLongchamp on 5 May over 1800m)
Summary: ES XARCU (12) has finished 3rd or 4th (twice each) in four appearances this year
but, over this extended trip, could improve enough to open her account. She may, however, have
to thwart the challenge of HOPEFULLY (11) who ought to be competitive in a claimer for the first
time. Demoted to 2nd in his penultimate outing (at this venue), SPEEDY RECORD (2) has
references in this category and should make his presence felt, too. IVANIVKA (6) and ANTARES
(5) complete the shortlist.

appearances at this level. Should fare better than she did last time (7th) in a 2400m handicap at
Bordeaux on 16 May
3. VIS LE REVE – Winner of his last appearance in the claiming category on PSF at Pau in March
but soundly beaten in all 3 of his subsequent appearances in handicaps – the latest (13th) at La
Teste over 1900m on 3 June. Others preferred
4. A BETTER WORLD – Unreliable handicapper but has won two of his three appearances at this
level. Acquitted himself well when 5th in a 2400m handicap at Bordeaux on 16 May

JUBILE – Inconsistent handicapper who didn’t go unnoticed when finishing an
improved/reassuring 6th in a handicap at Bordeaux over 2400m on 16 May. More needed
6. GRECIAN BONANZA – Consistent colt with solid form references/credentials, including
several placed efforts in Quinté handicaps on both PSF and turf. He ought to be formidable at this
level after a last-start 4th over 2000m at Lyon on 27 April
7. MONSIEUR XOO – A two-time winner at Quinté+ level. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 6th
over 2100m at this venue on 2 June
8. SINNERMAN – Revealed early promise but has finished unplaced in all five appearances this
year and was soundly beaten in each of his last three – the latest (16th) over 1600m in a handicap
at La Teste on 3 June
9. ALCEDIMZOE – Won her only start in the claiming category at Compiegne last year – her last
appearance on French soil. Returns after a much-needed comeback run (7th) in Madrid over
2200m on 31 March
10. LA MARAZUELA – A 14-start maiden with sound references in handicaps, including a
respectable 5th over 1900m at Bordeaux last time (25 May). Could have more to offer at this level
11. ALFABIA – Has shown little to get excited about, despite finishing 4th in two of her last three
starts, including her latest at Montauban in a conditions race over 2250m on 19 May. Needs to
improve, even at this level
12. FAL DARA – Finished 4th in two of five starts last year but has been unable to better that in
four appearances this season. Could only finish 6th in her first outing on French soil over 2400m
in a conditions race at Bordeaux on 25 May
Summary: GRECIAN BONANZA (6) boasts solid form credentials at a higher level (in stronger
races) and, judged on those references, will prove hard to beat dropped in grade to contest his
first claimer. PIETER DE HOOCH (1) and MONSIEUR XOO (7) are those best equipped to pose
a threat, with the shortlist completed by ALCEDIMZOE (9) who revealed sufficient potential as a
three-year-old.

5. ALPHABIA – Consistent filly with improved with the benefit of a much-needed comeback
outing to finish 4th over 1500m at Tarbes on 11 May. Open to further progress over this longer
trip
6. QUARTIER MAITRE – Progressive gelding with consistent/competitive form credentials,
including a last-start 2nd on handicap debut over 2000m at La Test on 17 May – beaten narrowly
by FEET OF FEAR (4) but is weighted to reverse that form
7. EL KALBITO – Confirmed the form/improvement of his previous outing (2nd) with a first career
victory on 11 May over 2300m at Tarbes. Not taken lightly
8. JUBBAH – Experienced filly with sound references/form credentials in claimers and handicaps.
Didn;t go unnoticed when finishing 7th in a 2000m handicap at La Teste on 17 May
9. FARY – Maturing three-year-old gelding who caught the eye when finishing 3rd over track and
trip on 1 May. Can make his presence felt if confirming that progress
Summary: With the likelihood of further progress stretching out over this extended distance,
improving last-start winner UPSIDE DOWN (2) is good value to follow up his recent win over
1500m at Tarbes with another on his handicap. Consistent QUARTIER MAITRE (6), who was
narrowly beaten by FEET OF FEAR (4) at La Teste last month, is weighted to turn the tables and,
as such, could pose the biggest threat to the selection. In-form RAYO DE LUZ (3) is another with
the means to play a leading role, especially given the benefit of her rider’s 1,5kg weight
allowance.

handicap win 3 starts back by finishing 3rd and 2nd in subsequent outings under a 2,5kg penalty –
the latest in a 2400m handicap at Toulouse (28 May)
9. MOREA – Versatile mare and honest hard-knocker with references in the claiming category,
albeit in weaker company at Pompadour last year. Absent since finishing 9th in a 2000m PSF
handicap at Pau on 1 December – watch for now
10. FINEHA – Raced outside of the leader when tiring to finish 5th behind CHIEF’S APP (7) in a
2300m Royan claimer on 8 May and should get closer on 4,5kg better terms
11. ADHAMIY – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 4th in a 2400m handicap at Toulouse behind
PANDEMONIUM (8) on 28 May. Could have a role to play on better weight terms
12. PINTXOPOTE – Acquitted himself well in 2 April handicaps but, on the evidence of both starts
last month, looks to have lost his way. Finished a well-beaten 12th in a 2400m handicap at
Toulouse on 28 May
Summary: Veteran PANDEMONIUM (8) has confirmed the form/improvement of his handicap
victory 3 starts back with competitive displays in subsequent handicap appearances under a
2,5kg penalty and a repeat of either performance should be good enough to reconnect with
success on his return to the claiming category. Honest hard-knocker BOKEN (2) finished 2nd
when last seen at this level and is likely to pose a threat. CHIEF’S APP (7), undefeated this
campaign after 2 comeback wins, and ADHAMIY (11), who bounced back to form at Toulouse
recently, could fight out the remaining podium berth.

5. HIGH HOPE – Runner-up over 2900m at Royan last month but failed to confirm that
form/improvement last time (17 May) when only 6th in a 3000m handicap La Teste. Others

6. GAHERIS – Disappointing when a well-beaten 16th in a 2400m handicap at Toulouse on 28
May but finished 3rd in each of his two starts over 3000m, so shouldn’t be hastily condemned.

Summary: QUEST FOR LOVE (2) is a maturing stayer who confirmed the improvement of his
penultimate start (victory) by finishing 3rd over a similar distance in a recent ParisLongchamp
handicap. On that evidence, he’s good value to return to winning ways at the expense of last-start
winner KERDINA (4), with MONT STEELE (9) another considered a candidate for success under
bottom-weight 49,5kg. GAHERIS (6) and SHARP RISE (1) appeal most of the remainder.
