1. MOUTRAKI – Course winner over 2000m in October last year but has struggled (finished
unplaced) in all 3 subsequent outings. Could only finish 7th over 2600m on the PSF at Vivaux on
23 March
2. SOAN – Showed signs of a return to form recently when finishing 6th in a 1500m conditions event
at Marseille-Vivaux on 23 March
3. LAKE NAIVASHA – Honest performer who has improved her form/consistency recently with
blinkers fitted – confirmed as much by finishing 2nd on a 2200m Class 4 conditions race at Cavaillon
on 6 April. Dark horse
4. SLEEPY SUZY – Ultra-consistent mare with sound references/form credentials in handicap,
claimers and conditions races – which include a last-start 4th in a 1600m claimer on heavy ground
at Compiegne on 29 March. High on the shortlist
5. MAFALDA STORY – Reverts to the turf after a long series of PSF races – finished 7th in a 1500m
handicap in the latest of those on 5 April at Marseille-Vivaux
6. LES ALDUDES – Won a course-and-distance handicap on 13 February but has struggled
(finished unplaced) in all 4 subsequent outings. Finished 12th in a 2000m PSF handicap at
Marseille-Vivaux on 12 April. Not taken lightly
7. COLBY CHOP – Versatile handicapper who has dropped in the weights/ratings to an attractive
mark, having lost his form recently – only 7th in a 2000m PSF handicap at Marseille-Vivaux on 12
April. Keep safe
8. TELL ME WHY – Showed early promise but has lost his way this year and finished unplaced in
all 4 appearances – the latest (12th) on PSF over 1600m at Chantilly on 8 March
9. BOURDAIN – Veteran performer with better references at a lower level. Finished 8th in a 2500m
conditions race at Hyeres on 13 April
10. VALYRIAN STEEL – Well-traveled veteran whose recent performances have left a lot to be
desired. Finished 8th over 2000m in a PSF handicap at Marseille-Vivaux on 12 April
11. DENIA – Hard-knocking handicapper who has rediscovered her form/consistency with blinkers
fitted – confirmed as much with a good 3rd in a Class 4 PSF handicap at Marseille-Vivaux on 12
April. Winning chance
Summary: Consistent DENIA (11) is one of three joint top-rated runners in the lineup but offers the
most guarantees with Cristian Demuro a noteworthy jockey engagement. Reliable SLEEPY SUZY
(4) and out-of-sorts COLBY CHOP (7) have shown enough to be competitive in a race of this nature.
Enigmatic LES ALDUDES (6), lastr-start 2nd LAKE NAIVASHA (3) and inconsistent MAFALDA
STORY (5) are three other mares capable of staking a claim too.

over this shorter distance after finishing 7th in a 1400m handicap at Fontainebleau on 2 April
2. WHY CHOPE – Inconsistent but capable mare with references on both surfaces. Ought to do
better back on turf over this trip after finishing 16th over 1400m in a PSF handicap at Deauville on
10 April
3. WASACHOP – Well-performed veteran who has been off the boil for some time now – finished
6th in a 1500m claimer at Cagnes on 18 January
4. HY DREAM – Arrives in good form and physical condtion, having run well (3rd) in a higher-level
handicap over 1200m on 15 April at Chantilly
5. RED TORCH – Inconsistent veteran who possesses sufficient speed and boasts three victories
over 1200m. Didn’t go unnoticed when 5th over 1500m in a PSF handicap at Marseille-Vivaux on
5 April
6. MAMMALINA – Consistent mare supplemented for this engagement after finishing 4th in a
1500m PSF conditions race and returning over a shorter distance can only benefit it.
7. ASTRACHEM – Well-performed veteran who seldom finishes far off the mark. Could do better
over this shorter distance after finishing 8th in a 1500m PSF handicap at Vivaux on 5 April
8. VANILLE BLEUE – Hard-knocking handicapper with sound references/form credentials,
including a last-start 2nd over 1500m on PSF at Mareille-Vivaux on 12 April
9. I DARE – Inconsistent mare with four victories over 1200m. Didn’t go unnoticed when 3rd over
track and trip on 20 March
10. NOBLE AMBER – Consistent handicapper with sound references/form credentials, including a
last-start 3rd over 1400m at Saint-Cloud on 19 April
11. YAKAMETTE KOUKEBAK – Hard-knocking handicapper with sound references/form
credentials, including a last-start 2nd over course and distance on 20 March
12. JOHN STYLE – Unplaced in nine of his 10 starts, including all 5 appearances this year – was
11th at Chantilly over 1600m on 4 April. Others preferred
13. NIGHT OF THE OPERA – Hard-knocking veteran handicapper who has been off the boil for
some time now – finished 8th in a 1500m PSF handicap at Vivaux on 5 April
14. EXPLORAR – Won a 1200m handicap at Toulouse on his reappearance but has struggled
(finished unplaced) in both subsequent outings, though didn’t go unnoticed when 5th over course
and distance on 20 March
Summary: Judged on the form of his last-start 3rd at Chantilly, HY DREAM (4) looks a tough nut
to crack in this 1200m handicap. NOBLE AMBER (10) has performed consistently since the
beginning of the year and is likely to pose a threat. RED TORCH (5), who is confirmed over this
distance, and VANILLE BLEUE (8), back to her best recently, are others with legitimate claims.
MAMMALINA (6) and YAKAMETTE KOUKEBAK (11) complete the shortlist.

2. BLACK FALCON – A winner of two claimers in last three starts including last time out at
Marseille-Vivaux over 2000m on 12 April. Tries sprinting and can be competitive in a handicap
3. CALIFANO – Improving and won a handicap last time out over this track and trip on 20 March.
Carries a 3.5kg penalty but can follow up
4. ACCLAM – In good form of late and was runner-up last time in a handicap at Marseille-Vivaux
over 1500m on 12 April
5. MONSIEURVALCHOP – In very good form of late and was third last time out in a handicap over
this track and trip on 20 March. Be right there at the finish
6. MAMAMOUCHI – Talented filly back in her day but has been off the boil for some time now –
finished 8th in a 1500m PSF handicap at Vivaux on 12 April
7. PRECIOSITE – Showed early promise but lost her way last year and could only finish 13th on he
reappearance in a 1500m PSF handicap at Vivaux on 12 April
8. MANAROLA – Unreliable but was third last time out in a handicap at Marseille-Vivaux over
1500m on 12 April. Might place
9. KADIYAC – Disappointing last run when well beaten in a handicap at Chantilly over 1600m on
30 March. Good form before that and has a place chance
10. DON FALCO – At the top of his game with two wins in last four starts and was a winner of a
handicap last time out at Marseille-Vivaux over 1500m on 5 April. Not out of it
11. COUR DU ROI – Disappointing last run when 9th in a handicap at Cagnes-sur-Mer over 1500m
on 26 February. Might play a minor role
12. EXPERTISE – Disappointing form of late and was 5th last time out in a handicap over this
course and distance on 20 March. Place chance
13. TILL WE DIE – Has won over this course and distance but was 5th last time out in a claimer at
Chantilly over 1000m. Could play a minor role
14. LE ROZEL – Relatively unexposed colt who has been sparingly raced, which suggests he has
been plagued by soundness issues. Absent since finishing 5th over course and distance on 9 June
2023
15. INDYCO – Disappointing form of late and was 7th last time out in a handicap over this track last
time out on 20 March. Others are preferred
Summary: BLACK FALCON (2) was a very easy winner over 2000m at Marseille-Vivaux recently
and won’t be bothered by this shorter distance, so is given the nod to follow up. Consistent
ACCLAM (4), twice 2nd in his last three starts, is also presented with legitimate claims of achieving
a victory. DON FALCO (10) and MONSIEURVALCHOP (5) arrive in good form and physical
condition, so are also likely to be competitive. CALIFANO (3) and EXPERTISE (12) complete the
shortlist.
