than any of his opposition here but hasn’t confirmed that form/encouragement in either subsequent

into a handicap
3. EGIATEGIA – Was disgraced (6th) on her handicap debut over 1200m on heavy ground at
Fontainebleau on 2 April and was subsequently supplemented for engagement. Outsider
4. KALEOCREEK – Promising at the start of his career and won a 1400m turf claimer on his
reappearance. Proved his form and well-being by finishing 3rd over 1100m at Fontainebleau on 2
March – for fans of oustiders
5. ALI – Finished 2nd in his sole handicap appearance over 1300m on the PSF at Deauville in
January before being outclassed in a 1300m Listed race at that venue on 8 March. Will be more
competitive back at this level on his Quinte+ debut
6. TREIZIEME – Won consecutive PSF handicaps, earning a 6,5kg penalty in total, before showing
his limitations in a Quinté+ handicap over 1900m at Chantilly on 28 March – finished 8th. Best
watched for now

7th on handicap debut over 1100m at Salon-de-Provence on 3 April. For another day
8. MA MOME – Well-performed filly with sound references at a lower level. Showed her limitations
in the handicaps when only 10th over 1200m at Fontainebleau on 2 April
9. MARIE MANCINI – Undefeated in two starts last season as a two-year-old and hasn’t finished
worse than 4th in 4 starts this year (albeit without success). Was 4th in the benchmark race over
1400m on PSF at Chantilly on 18 March – has legitimate claims
10. ZEPLACETOBE – Caught the eye with a reassuring 2nd on her reappearance in a handicap
over 1100m on 3 April at Salon-de-Provence. Tries this distance for the first time, so is best watched
for now

form by finishing 3rd in a 1200m handicap on heavy ground at Fontainebleau on 2 April – more
needed here
12. ANTICO – Unplaced in his first two outings before fully revealing himself with a last-start success
over 1300m on the PSF at Chantilly on 14 March. Improving sort who needs to produce another
career-best effort to have a say on his handicap debut                                                                    13. FOU FURIEUX – Consistent colt with sound references/form credentials in conditions races
against some high-class performers. Makes his handicap/Quinte+ debut after finishing 6th on
heavy ground over 1600m at Saint-Cloud on 26 March
14. THOMAS SHELBY – Represents a stable in good form and shouldn’t be hastily condemned
after finishing unplaced (8th) in a 1300m conditions race on the PSF at Chantilly on 14 March.
Respected on his handicap debut
15. KOSLOVKA – Consistent for the most and remains capable of a lot better than her latest outing
(8th), when drawn wide in a 1400m Quinte+ on the PSF at Chantilly on 18 March. Will be
competitive from stall No 8
16. L’ARDECHOISE – Revealed potential by finishing 3rd in three consecutive appearances in PSF
conditions races before an eye-catching 2nd on her handicap debut in a 1400m Quinte+ on PSF
at Chantilly on 18 March. Has never finished worse than 3rd and could open her account in her first
on turf

Summary: Carlos and Yann Lerner, who saddled the winning pair of Sunday’s Quinté+, are doubly
represented here in the opener, although their best chance of success rests with L’ARDECHOISE
(16) who made a remarkable handicap debut in the key benchmark race (2nd) on 18 March. On
that evidence, she could be worth chancing to open her account in what is also her first start on
turf. ALI (5) and KOSLOVKA (15), despite disappointing recent performances, remain candidates
for success judged on their best references. THOMAS SHELBY (14), who was unlucky not to have
achieved a better result in his last start (8th), has the means to acquit himself competitively on his
handicap debut, while the addition of blinkers could eke out improvement from MCTENETT (2) who
made a convincing debut on French soil after a promising start to his career in Ireland. MARIE
MANCINI (9), JOJO JUNIOR (7) and FOU FURIEUX (13) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS

Pornichet-La Baule over 3100m on 27 March. Could be best on the PSF

Summary: DRIP (4) was a good winner of a handicap last time out and although carrying a penalty
for that win is capable of following up. SHATTERHAND (2) has struggled on the PSF but was good
on the turf last year and is capable of bouncing back to score. COEUR DAVIER (6) has struggled
of late but is not out of it. KING MOTIF (7) will like this shorter distance so can contest the finish.

SELECTIONS

Summary: Well-bred ROSHVAR (3) caught the eye when 2nd on debut over this trip and confirmed
that promise when opening his account on the PSF over 1300m at Deauville in November. He
ought to have improved over the winter so it could pay to side with him on his reappearance,

Chantilly, and ought to have improved with that outing, so could fight for victory. AVENUE
MONTAIGNE (6), runner-up in both starts this year, has the form and experience to play a leading
role too, with the shortlist completed by well-bred MONTE SANCHA (3) who would’ve come on
appreciably after a quiet introductory outing last year.

SELECTIONS
MONTEMESOLA (7) – FELICIA (5) – AVENUE MONTAIGNE (6) – MONTE SANCHA (3)

R11 – PRIX DE VIROFLAY – 2000m (a1m1/4) – TURF – Maiden Race – Flat – EUR € 27,000

1. EXISTENTIALISTE – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut over 2000m on heavy ground at
Saint-Cloud on 21 March. Was beaten narrowly by NEWLOOK (2) on that occasion
2. NEWLOOK – Revealed potential when finishing 3rd, between BABAKOOL (7) and
EXISTENTIALISTE (1), on debut at Saint-Cloud over 2000m on 21 March. Ought to be competitive
3. GATTOPARDO – Runner-up in consecutive starts on the PSF at Chantilly but failed to build on
that promise in his first start on turf, finishing 5th over 2000m at the venue on 30 March. Must
improve
4. EVERGREEN – Didn’t go unnoticed when 4th on debut over 1600m on heavy ground at Chantilly
on 28 March. Will improve with that experience under the belt
5. SCORCH – Soundly beaten (10th) on debut over 1800m at Fontainebleau on 25 November.
Should improve with the benefit of that experience but is best watched for now
6. OSCAR – Finished 7th of 9 runners on debut at Chantilly on PSF over 1600m on 9 February.
Would’ve come on with that outing – for another day
7. BABAKOOL – Regally bred Dubawi colt, the grandson of Goldikova. Finished 2nd on debut at
Saint-Cloud on heavy ground over 2000m – interestingly, Maxime Guyon who rode him that day
rides HAMAVI (8) instead
8. HAMAVI – Well-bred Dubawi newcomer trained by André Fabre, who has engaged Maxime
Guyon to ride. Could be worth following

Summary: The Wertheimer brothers are doubly represented and likely to win the lion’s share of
the prize. Newcomer HAMAVI (8) is bred to be useful and it could pay to take a chance on this son
of Dubawi making a winning debut. However, he’ll need to be above-average to thwart the expected
challenge of BABAKOOL (7) who finished an encouraging 2nd on debut and would’ve improved
with that experience. Behind him that day, finishing 3rd and 4th respectively, were NEWLOOK (2)
and EXISTENTIALISTE (1) who aren’t without a chance either judged on that form.

SELECTIONS
HAMAVI (8) – BABAKOOL (7) – NEWLOOK (2) – EXISTENTIALISTE (1)

last run. A pleasant finisher during its first steps, the perfectible MQSE DU BERGER (7) was not
disgraced on er debut and will appreciate the slight extension of the distance. SOME SKYE (2)
