R1 – PRIX DS SALON MONT-DE-MARSAN – PRIX LA TESTE DE BUCH – 1500m (a7f1/2) – TURF – Handicap – Flat – EUR € 20,000
1. LOR LAGOON – Carries a big weight on his handicap debut off of a high opening mark but has
already revealed sufficient means to win a race of this nature, especially on the evidence of his last
start (5th) over 1600m at Toulouse on 20 March
2. MONNA VANNA – Runner-up over this track and trip on debut last year (14 October) and has
confirmed that promise by maintaining a consistent/competitive level of form. Won a 1700m claimer
at Marseille-Borely on 20 March – has more to offer
3. SILPENY – Consistent filly with sound references on both surfaces and solid form credentials,
including a last-start 2nd on her handicap debut and first start on turf over 1400m at Toulouse on
20 March. Will be a factor
4. GARMI – At the top of her game at present, despite suffering defeat for the first time in three
starts this year when 3rd in a 1400m handicap at Toulouse on 20 March. Should have a role to play
5. MALINOVKA – Debut winner over 1400m at La Teste-de-Buch on 24 July but has been very
disappointing since. Needs to improve to have a say here after finishing 6th over 1400m in
conditions race at Bordeaux on 1 April
6. DAKOVKA – Improving last-start winner of a 1600m claimer at Bordeaux on 16 March – that
confirmed the promise/progress of her encouraging (2nd) reappearance over 1400m on this course
in her previous outing. Not taken lightly
7. MACANELLA – Unplaced (7th) over track and trip on debut in October last year and has
performed inconsistently in 3 outings on PSF since. Absent since finishing 5th over 2000m on that
surface at Pau on 6 January
8. CHAI D’OEUVRE – Consistent performer with sound references on both surfaces, albeit without
success. Finished a career-best 4th in his last start over 1600m at La Teste-de Buch on 23 March,
so has a place chance here
9. GEE WHIZZER – Inconsistent filly for the most part, though does boast sound references on both
surfaces. Won a PSF claimer over 1600m at Cagnes in January but finished unplaced in all 4 starts
since – only 5th at Marseille-Borely on 20 March
10. LUCKY LADY – Soundly beaten in each of her three appearances and made no impression
when finishing 8th in a 1600m claimer at Bordeaux on 16 March in her first start on turf
Summary: Top-rated LOR LAGOON (1) shoulders a hefty 63kg but has shown enough to suggest
that he is more than capable of giving weight and a beating to these rivals on his handicap debut.
SILPENY (3) acquitted herself well pitched into this category last time and should pose a threat if
building on that encouragement, while GARMI (4) has already proven her competitiveness at this
level and should make her presence felt. Last-start winner DAKOVKA (6) ought to remain
competitive too.

surfaces, including a last-start 4th in a 1900m handicap at Bordeaux on 16 March
2. EAGLE MOUNT – Improving last-start winner on a 1900m handicap at Bordeaux on 16 March
in her first outing with blinkers fitted. Should again play a leading role, despite a 2,5kg penalty
3. FRONDAISON – Consistent filly with sound references/form credentials (although no victories)
and finished 4th in a 1900m claimer at Bordeaux on 1 April. On a dangerous opening mark for her
handicap debut
4. ESPRIT DES BOIS – Unplaced in all six outings and has run his best races (twice 4th) on the
PSF. Hard to make a case for after finishing 9th in a 1900m handicap at Bordeaux on 16 March
5. RAYO DE LUZ – Capable filly with references on both surfaces. Acquitted herself well (6th) on
her handicap debut at Bordeaux on very heavy ground over 1900m on 16 March – firmer ground
will serve her interests
6. NASDAQ – Runner-up on handicap debut at Cagnes over 1500m and has finished 4th in four of
her other five appearances, including her latest outing in an 1800m PSF handicap at Lyon-La Soie
on 24 March
7. ALMANSUR – Revealed serious means in 3 starts last year by finishing 2nd on debut (turf) and
3rd twice on PSF but has regressed in 3 outings this year – was 8th in a 1900m handicap at
Bordeaux on 16 March
8. HOPEFULLY – Makes her handicap debut handicap off of an attractive opening mark and quicker
ground will be an advantage for her. Finished 2nd over 2000m at La Teste-de-Buch on 23 March
9. JUBBAH – Maturing three-year-old filly who has established herself in the claiming category (2
wins from last 3 starts at that level), confirmed by a last-start 2150m PSF victory at Lyon-La Soie
on 24 March. Has references in handicaps
10. LAYE CHOPE – Has improved with each of her three comeback outings this year – confirmed
as much by winning a 1900m claimer on very ground at Bordeaux on 1 April. Not taken lightly
11. SNATCHER – Improving three-year-old gelding who caught the eye with a career-best 3rd on
handicap debut at Bordeaux over 1900m on 16 March. Keep safe
12. TESTIMONIO – Unplaced in all six outings, although did achieve his best finish (4th) over track
and trip, albeit in the claiming category. Finished a modest 6th over 2000m at La Teste on 23 March
13. CIAO MA – Sparked improvement in first-time blinkers to finish a reassuring/career-best 3rd
over 2000m at La Teste on 23 March. Confirmation required
14. SPEEDY RECORD – Runner-up in three of his last five outings, including consecutive recent
appearances over 1900m at Bordeaux – the latest in a claimer on 1 April
Summary: HOPEFULLY (8) has blown hot and cold recently but seems ideally engaged off her
current mark and should make a bold winning bid on her handicap debut. EAGLE MOUNT (2)
confirmed the improvement of her previous outing (2nd) by winning last time and ought to remain
competitive for the victory. NASDAQ (6), whose latest outing on the PSF is best ignored, and
consistent RAYO DE LUZ (5) should make their presence felt too.

over 2300m at this venue in his sole visit to Tarbes (14 October). Absent since his 5th over 2000m
on PSF at Pau in January
2. CHAHI GRINE – Won on debut in Morocco and but was disappointing (8th) in his first appearance
on French soil at Toulouse over 1400m on 11 March. Ought to be capable of a lot better
3. PETITE AATIKA – Consistent mare whose competitiveness at this level is beyond doubt – twice
2nd and five times 3rd in 12 starts without a win. Absent since finishing 8th over 2000m on PSF at
Pau on 31 January
4. BALEEGH A – Caught the eye on debut when finishing 4th on this course over 1500m on 20
April 2023. Sidelined since but dangerous to discount on his reappearance
5. THOUAB AL SHAHANIA – Was the subject of a few ‘whispers’ on debut but disappointed on
that occasion, finishing 8th over 2100m at Toulouse on 2 June 2023. Returns from a lengthy
absence with first-timer blinkers fitted
6. ALJARF – Made an encouraging start to his career (2nd) over 2500m at Agen on very heavy
ground last year (10 November) but failed to build on that promise. Finish 8th over 2100m at
Toulouse on 4 March
7. MIGUELITO – Has finished unplaced in all 8 appearances – including two on the PSF – and could
only finish 6th over 2100m at Toulouse on 4 March when reverting to turf for the first time this year.

8. ANGUS – Maintained a respectable level of form/consistency in his first 4 starts – wasn’t suited
to the heavy ground at Toulouse on his reappearance (13th) over 2100m on 4 March. Remains
capable of better
9. GASSAAN – Showed something to work with when finishing 6th on debut over 2000m on PSF
at Pau last year December but didn’t build on that encouragement in his latest outing (10th) there
on 31 January
10. ALGHABRA – Justified market support on debut by finishing 3rd over track and trip on 27
August and confirmed that promise with an encouraging reappearance (2nd) over 2000m on PSF
at Pau on 24 March
11. MAHIR DU SOLEIL – Mahabb colt on debut for trainer Jean-François Bernard who has
engaged Maryline Eon to ride. Best watched for now
Summary: ALGHABRA (10) confirmed the promise of her debut 3rd last year by improving to finish
2nd on her reappearance, so needn’t make any significant progress to open her account against
this opposition. PETITE AATIKA (3), runner-up on her last visit to this venue (over 2300m in
October 2023), and debut winner CHAHI GRINE (2), who would have come appreciably after a
much-needed comeback outing, appear the biggest dangers to the selection. ANGUS (8) also has
the means to stake a claim but would prefer firm/quick ground to be seen to best effect.

22 October. Should fare a lot better here than in her comeback outing (10th) over 2400m on PSF
at Pau on 10 March
3. JOBURG PONTADOUR AA – Consistent mare whose competitiveness at this level on either
surface is beyond doubt. Acquitted herself well in both comeback outings this year (on PSF over
2400m) at Pau – latest on 24 March
4. JUSTE LABOUEYRIE AA – Undefeated in two course-and-distance appearances. Returned to
winning ways with a dominant victory over track and trip on 31 March and seems more than capable
of following up here
5. POWERS DREAM AA – Made an encouraging debut (3rd) at Royan-Atlantique in June 2023
and confirmed that promise with an eye-catching 3rd over track and trip on his reappearance on
31 March. Has leading claims
6. FALSTAFF DU PECOS AA – Inconsistent but did prove his competitiveness at this level last
year (runner-up in 3 of his 8 starts) and has references over track and trip – including when 8th on
his reappearance on 31 March
7. KNOCK LABOUEYRIE AA – Finished a well-beaten 11th on debut over course and distance
behind several re-opposing rivals on 31 March. Watch for now
8. KALY DE LA BRUNIE AA – Consistent, lightly raced filly with sound references/form credentials.
Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 6th on her seasonal reappearance over 2400m on the PSF at
Pau on 10 March. Outsider
9. ALICE DREAM AA – Runner-up on debut at Dax in May last year and confirmed that promise
with a victory at her next start over 2250m at Montauban. Finished 2nd on her comeback over track
and trip on 31 March
10. KADJIRA DU CARLADES AA – Wasn’t disgraced when finishing 7th on debut over course and
distance in the race won by JUSTE LABOUEYRIE (4) on 31 March. One to keep an eye on
11. ISEULT DU PACS AA – Consistent, lightly raced mare with sound references at this level but
no more than a place chance here on the evidence of her last-start 6th on PSF at Pau over 2400m
when last seen (6 November)
12. KALINKA LABOUEYRIE AA – Consistent, lightly raced filly who has revealed sufficient means
to be competitive in a race of this nature on her reappearance. Absent since finishing 4th at Agen
over 2500m on 10 November
Summary: JUSTE LABOUEYRIE AA (4), in his second start/comeback outing this year, returned
to winning ways over course and distance last month and, despite an unfavourable weight
turnaround with runner-up ALICE DREAM AA (9), is capable of confirming his superiority.
HALANDJILA AA (1), himself a course-and-distance winner, and POWERS DREAM AA (5), who
didn’t finish a long way adrift of the leading pair over track and trip last time, can’t be underestimated
either.

9. FIAMELCA DOLOISE – Has lost her way of late and was 9th last time out in a handicap at
Pornichet-La Baule over 2400m on 2 March. Capable of much better but others are preferred
10. GRISGRISES – On a very long losing run and was 8th last time out in a handicap at Toulouse
over 2000m on 8 April. Capable of an upset on best form
11. SUMMER EYES – Has really struggled of late and was tenth last time out at Angoulême over
2200m on 3 March. Others are much preferred
12. SCHWANENSEE – Just over a year since last win and was 8th last time out in a handicap at
Royan-Atlantique over 2900m on 7 April. More is needed to win this race
13. LEVANT – Struggling of late and was 9th last time out in a handicap at Chantilly over 1900m
on 28 March. Capable of earning some money back on the grass
Summary: Performing well on this Tarbes track, FINEHA (6) looks formidable in this handicap.
She is knocking hard at the door with two recent runner-up performances. TIGRE ROUGE (8) is
in very good form and does look the biggest threat. AFTER LA GUERRE (5), ran well last time out
but has yet to win a race. GRISGRISES (10) as been struggling of late but is capable of running
well if sowing best side.

Summary: CHIEF OF STALL (1) has often excelled on this course and could be the right one in a
very weak lucky last race. PLATEADO (4) has only been fair of late but is capable of better and
could be a threat over this particular course and distance. WATERFALLS (12) was not disgraced
on handicap debut and should be fitter and do better this time around. LANCEUR D’ALERTE (6)
as run well at this course and is not out of it.

6. SELF SOLUTION – Did not show much when 8th on debut at Halle over 1500m on 31 October.

7. DRIVER’S PICK – Not at all disgraced when 5th on debut in a Conditions race at Saint-Cloud
over 1500m on 5 October. Likely to improve this longer distance returning from a break
8. JALNAR – Holding form well and was runner-up last time out in a Conditions race at this course
over 2200m on 2 March. Be right there at the finish
9. MY DESERT QUEEN – Has not shown much in two starts and was 7th last time out in a
Conditions race at Chantilly over 1600m on 16 February. Needs to find a few lengths to win
10. ESTELLE – Finished 7th on her debut at Haydock Park UK over 1200m on 29 September.
Capable of improvement on French debut but others are preferred
11. BREIZHY GIRL – Disappointing last two runs on the PSF and was well beaten last time out in
a handicap at Deauville over 1500m on 26 December. Better on turf but more is needed to win
12. BAGGALA – Ran well on debut when runner-up in a Conditions race at La Teste-de-Buch over
1600m on 23 March. Not out of it
13. BEFORE NIGHT FALLS – Showed promise when fourth on debut in a Conditions race at
Clairefontaine-Deauville over 1400m on 21 August. Can win if fit from a break
14. APOLINO – A three-year-old colt by Frankel out of Haggle who is making his debut. Can score
15. FEE DU VIVIEN – A three-year-old filly by Seahenge out of Queen du Vivien who is making her

Summary: A competitive-looking race. BEFORE NIGHT FALLS (13) represents a strong jockeytrainer combination and is likely to show good improvement on debut returning from a break.
APOLINO (14) is well-bred and would not be a surprise winner on debut. JALNAR (8) is fit and has
done well without winning so far so deserves respect. DRIVER’S PICK (7) should improve on debut
and is another to consider.

8. MACCARELLU – Showed promise on debut when third in a Conditions race over this track and

9. PORTREATH – Best run was on the PSF and was 11th last time out in a Conditions race at this
course over 1800m on 2 April. Unlukely to win
10. NEXT EAGLE – Disappointing last run when 9th at München-Riem over 2200m on 25
November. Needs to do more to win this race
11. EARLY SPIRIT – Not disgraced when fourth and returning from a lengthy break in a Conditions
race over this course and distance on 25 March. Not out of it
12. TANTE TILLY – Consistent in Germany and has been runner-up in her last three starts but last
ran on 5 November. Likely to need this run returning from a break
13. MISS WHITE SOCKS – Ran well when third on debut but did not repeat it when 6th last time
out in a Conditions race over this course and distance on 25 March. Might play a minor role
14. FULL COLOUR – Yet to win a race after 26 attempts but is knocking hard on the door and was
runner-up last time out in a Conditions race at Deauville over 1900m on 25 January. Should contest

15. ZAMNESIA – Ran well in her two starts in Germany and was fourth last time out at MünchenRiem over 1600m on 5 November. Tougher task this time
16. SAANEN – Unreliable but was not disgraced when fourth last time out in a Conditions race at

Summary: FULL COLOUR (14) and KHANWEILER (4) have both had numerous opportunities to
exit the maiden rank but are both in good form and are capable of fighting out the finish. It is possible
but there will be some runners in the line-up that can improve and go past them. MACCARELLU
(8) has only had one run and was not disgraced so with improvement likely can score. EARLY
SPIRIT (11) proved just in need of last run and can do a lot better this time around.

ready to score trying the turf for the first time. OLD LION CEN (8) ran well on debut and with
improvement expected should be right there at the finish. COETZEE (10) is a Frankel colt making
his debut and deserves the utmost respect. DSCHINGIS DREAM (1) should like this course and
distance and can contest the finish.

Summary: A competitive handicap where very few of them can be written off completely from
winning. LUCIO VERO (8) has improved of late over this distance and can follow up carrying a
penalty for the last win. MONTBARDOIS (2) has yet to win a race but only found one better last
time out and could like this longer distance. ALKUIN (1) and MONTE CINTO (7) are both in good

Summary: A very open-looking race. CALCUTTA CUP (2) bounced back to form with a solid win
last time out and is quite capable of following up but is not easy to trust. SWIFT FLIGHT (1) showed
improvement of late in handicaps and with the confidence of the last win could be a threat once
again. INCA MAN (6) is consistent and can fight out the finish again. BONNIE HOPPS (5) is capable
of much better than her last run and did win her penultimate start which was at this course.

Summary: A small field but would be brave to rule any one of them out of winning. COL DU PRE’
(2) has been consistent so far and won well last time out so gets the vote to send punters home
happy after the lucky last race. SOMKIYR (4) steps up in distance but has been fair so far and
should be a threat. The same can also be said of XYLOPHONE (3). LOST IN MUSIC (1) could
make use of his experience and is clearly not out of it.
