Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DE LA FEYSSINE – 1800m (a1m1/8) – ALL WEATHER – Class 4 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 17,000

1. KING’S CROWN – Lost his form in four starts under a penalty for winning at Vittel in July last
year and only finished 12th on his reappearance over 1400m on heavy ground at Strasbourg on
22 March
2. PREMIERE D’ESTEJO – Last-start winner of a 1600m PSF handicap at Pau on 10 March. Ought
to remain competitive despite a 3kg penalty
3. LIVING NELSON – Resurfaced, after five poor (unplaced) performances, to finish 5th over
2150m on this course on 24 March
4. SUNRAY – Inconsistent mare who continues to blow hot and cold, although did finish 2nd over
track and trip in her only outing at this venue. Disappointing 7th in a 1900m PSF handicap at
Chantilly on 14 March
5. MALLEOLUS – An inconsistent 14-start maiden who failed to confirm the improvement of his
previous start (2nd) when finishing 13th in a 2000m PSF handicap at Marseille-Vivaux on 23 March
6. EDITED – Got the better of AERION (13) when winning a course-and-distance handicap on 15
March, for which he incurred a 2kg penalty. Ought to remain competitive
7. LONDON WAY – A 9-start maiden whose only placed finish (3rd) was achieved in a 1600m
handicap on heavy ground in October 2022. Unplaced in both comeback outings (was 9th over
1600m at Fontainebleau on 2 March)
8. GREAT CHARLIE – Maintained his form and consistency in five 1900m PSF handicaps at
Deauville off his current mark after winning on turf over 2100m at Saint-Cloud six starts back.
Absent since 12 January – finished 6th that day
9. BLACK WALL – Consistent handicapper with sound references/form credentials, including a
last-start 2nd in a 1900m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 28 March
10. KARRY BRADSHAW – Hard-knocking veteran handicapper with a good record on this course,
although was only 9th in a 2150m handicap here on 24 March. Capable of better
11. GREYWAY – Well-performed veteran handicapper with 11 wins from 88 appearances. Didn’t
go unnoticed when 8th in a course-and-distance handicap on 15 March
12. SA SAL – Has dropped in the weights/ratings to his last winning mark and confirmed his
competitiveness with an improved 5th in a course-and-distance handicap on 15 March. Keep safe
13. AERION – Returned to form when finishing 2nd in a handicap over course and distance on 15
March. Has a winning chance
14. MARGUNS – Reliable, hard-knocking handicapper with sound references – has 10 podium
finishes on this course. Ran with merit when finishing 4th in a handicap over 2150m on 24 March

Summary: Veteran AERION (13) bounced back to form with an encouraging 2nd over track and
trip last month and, on the evidence of that performance, is a genuine candidate for success in this
opening event. However, the same can be said of BLACK WALL (9) whose consistency, including
a last-start 2nd, deserves to be rewarded. SA SAL (12) showed signs of a return to form last time
and is likely to make his presence felt if building on that progress. Despite penalties for recent
success, both last-start winners PREMIERE D’ESTEJO (2) and EDITED (6) ought to remain
competitive.

SELECTIONS
AERION (13) – BLACK WALL (9) – SA SAL (12) – PREMIERE D’ESTEJO (2)

R2 – PRIX DU GRAND LARGE – 1800m (a1m1/8) – ALL WEATHER – Class 4 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 15,000

1. ROYAL POST OFFICE – Has finished 3rd in both visits to this track, including over the same
track and trip in a handicap back on 7 November. Can do better reverting to PSF after finishing
13th in a 2100m turf handicap on 23 March
2. LORLISALSA – Lost her way/form in consecutive turf handicaps back in October and could only
finish 9th in a handicap over course and distance on her reappearance on 15 March. Continues to
drop in the weights/ratings
3. POLDI’S LIEBLING – Course-and-distance winner in December 2020. Was soundly beaten
(10th) in a 2150m handicap on this course when returning from a four-month absence on 24 March
4. SISTER JADE – Lightly raced filly unplaced in all four appearances, the latest (12th) on handicap
debut in a 2400m PSF handicap on this course (her first start on this surface). Others preferred
5. HARRISON POINT – Well-traveled veteran gelding with PSF references in conditions races on
French soil off a higher mark. Eased another 1,5kg after finishing 8th in a 1600m PSF handicap at
Chantilly on 5 March – could improve
6. UNION SQUARE – Remains a maiden but has performed consistently/competitively in handicaps
at this level, including all 3 starts on this course last month. Finished over 2150m here on 24 March
7. KISS QUEEN – Achieved her only career victory on this course in the claiming category. Finished
a well-beaten 11th in a course-and-distance handicap on 15 March
8. VENETICO – Out of sorts and unlikely to trouble the judge here either having been soundly
beaten in both starts this year. Made no impression (15th) in a 1400m handicap on heavy ground
at Bordeaux on 22 February
9. NAJEM SHALGHODA – Showed signs of improvement, albeit at a lower level, in consecutive
Munich handicaps in November. Absent since finishing 4th over 1600m on heavy ground at that
venue on 25 November – watch for now
10. SILVER MAGIC – Consistent for the most part and seldom finishes far off. Dropped in the
weights to a mark below his last winning rating and didn’t go unnoticed when 8th in a 1900m PSF
handicap at Chantilly on 24 February
11. CALAS QUEEN – Hard-knocking veteran mare with sound references in handicaps on this
course, including a last-start 6th here over 2150m on 24 March
12. CAPCHOP – Well-performed veteran handicapper with 9 wins from 94 appearances. Dropped
in the weights/ratings (1kg) after finishing 9th in a 1600m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 5 March
13. TICKLISH – Has regained momentum with each of her four comeback outings this year.
Reassured with an improved 3rd over track and trip on 15 March
14. LIGHT THE FUSE – Finished 6th in each of his last three appearances, all in handicaps
including two on this course either side of a turf outing at Nancy. Absent since 19 November 2022
so is best watched for now on his return

Summary: UNION SQUARE (6) is still pursuing a first career success but her consistency can
finally be rewarded in a race of this nature, having proven her aptitude/efficiency on this racecourse
several times already – including in all 3 starts here last month. TICKLISH (13), after an encouraging
(3rd) last start, is likely to pose a threat with the aid of Marie Vélon’s 1,5kg allowance. SILVER
MAGIC (10) has dropped a competitive mark so isn’t underestimated either after a much-needed
comeback outing. ROYAL POST OFFICE (1) and CALAS QUEEN (11) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
UNION SQUARE (6) – TICKLISH (13) – SILVER MAGIC (10) – ROYAL POST OFFICE (1)

R3 – PRIX DE CROIX-LUIZET – 3200m (a2m) – ALL WEATHER – Class 4 Handicap – Flat – EUR € 17,000

1. NABUNGA – Consistent veteran performer formidable in the claiming category with sound
references in handicaps, including a Chantilly victory off a higher mark. Runner-up over 2100m at
Pornichet on 27 March
2. BRAMESHOT – Capable and versatile performer with better references on PSF, so shouldn’t be
hastily condemned after a recent failure (10th) in a 2500m handicap on heavy ground at SaintCloud on 21 March
3. POET’S BLACK – Won a 3000m Strasbourg handicap off this mark in May last year but has lost
his way recently. Finished a well-beaten 11th in a 2400m handicap on this course on 15 March
4. GARIGLIANO – Hard-knocking veteran handicapper with sound references in handicaps over
track and trip, including a last-start 4th on 24 January. Keep safe
5. ANALEON – Ultra-consistent veteran handicapper with sound references/form credentials over
this track and trip. Finished 3rd over 2400m in a handicap on this course on 15 March
6. ZABIR – Consistent for the most part and was far from disgraced when finishing 5th under a 2kg
penalty (current mark) in a handicap over track and trip on 3 January. Has regained freshness since
7. DELSHEER – Honest veteran handicapper with sound references and consistent/competitive
form in PSF handicaps. Not written off just yet despite his recent failure (11th) in a 2600m handicap
at Fontainebleau (25 March)
8. ROCKABILLY – More effective in conditions races at a lower level, confirmed as much by
finishing unplaced in both his handicap appearances – the latest (8th) over 2600m on the PSF at
Marseille-Vivaux on 14 March
9. EXHIT – Has shown signs of a return to form recently having dropped in the weights/ratings.
Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 5th in a 3000m claimer on turf at Nancy on 24 March
10. PASIPHAE – Wide-margin winner of her last start in a 2400m PSF handicap on this course on
15 March and, on that evidence, a resultant 2,5kg penalty is unlikely to prevent her from winning
again. One to beat
11. FEEDESREVES – Unplaced in consecutive PSF handicaps – over 2700m at Chantilly in January
(13th) and in a 2400m race on this course last time (9th) on 15 March – having finished 2nd over
track and trip before that. Beware
12. JANAJKA – Won a 3000m Craon handicap off a 6,5kg higher mark in June last year but has
become very unreliable since. Failed to confirm the improvement of her previous start (3rd) when
12th in a 3000m handicap at Pornichet on 22 February
13. MOODY CHOP – A 23-start maiden whose form is poor – finished 11th in a 2500m claimer at
Le Croise-Laroche when last seen on 6 November

Summary: Finally, PASIPHAE (10) imposed itself with great authority. Very efficient on this track,
she seems capable of repeating despite the five pounds of overload. ANALEON (5) has been
impeccable for several months and should once again take an active part in the finish. Still confident
at 12 years old, NABUNGA (1) returns to handicaps with great ambitions. GARIGLIANO (4),
regular, EXHIT (9) and FEEDESREVES (11), capable of resurfacing in such a company, are
potential entrants.

SELECTIONS
PASIPHAE (10) – ANALEON (5) – NABUNGA (1) – GARIGLIANO (4)

R4 – GRAND PRIX DE L’HIPPODROME DE LYON-LA-SOIE – 1800m (a1m1/8) – ALL WEATHER – Class 1 Race – Flat – EUR € 38,000

1. BREIZH EAGLE – Versatile performer with sound references on both surfaces – includes having
never finished worse than 3rd on PSF. Reverst to this surface after finishing 7th in a 1600m Listed
race at Saint-Cloud on 7 March
2. RUSSIPANT FAL – Talented but sparingly raced five-year-old with sound references/form
credentials, including a last-start 5th in a 1600m Listed race on heavy ground at Saint-Cloud on 7
March
3. WALLY – His trainer Jean-Claude Rouget has won the last two renewals of this race and can
complete a hat-trick with this ultra-consistent veteran performer runner-up over 1600m at Chantilly
on 8 March. One to beat
4. CARAMELITO – Caught the eye when finishing 2nd on his reappearance over 1600m on the
PSF at Chantilly in February. Refitted with headgear for this engagement
5. PERLE ROUGE – Runner-up to WALLY (3) over 1600m on the PSF at Cagnes on 21 January.
Reverts to this surface having finished 7th in a 2000m conditions race on turf at La Teste-de-Buch
on 23 March
6. OLYMPIC MESSAGE – Progressive colt with sound references/form credentials, including a laststart victory over 2000m on the PSF at Cagnes in a Quinte+ handicap on 17 February
7. MON BEL CANTO – Has displayed commendable consistency, albeit at a lower level, in
conditions races on both surfaces. Runner-up in his last 3 starts, including on his reappearance
over 2000m on turf at Toulouse on 4 March
8. LE SAGE – Progressive, lightly raced colt who remains relatively unexposed. Finished a
creditable 4th in a 2000m Quinte+ on the PSF at Cagnes on 17 February
9. SECRETIVE – Won consecutive starts on the PSF in November 2022 and March 2023. Finished
8th over 1900m when reverting to this surface at Deauville on 21 December
10. LINFASOMMER – Consistent filly, albeit at a lower level in handicaps and claiming races. Best
watched for now after finishing 8th in a 1600m PSF handicap at Chantilly on 8 March
11. SACAYA – Lacks references on the PSF – finished 7th over 1900m on this surface at Chantilly
on 31 October. Watch for now

Summary: Jean-Claude Rouget won this race with Alessandro in 2022 and Glaer in 2023 and
seems likely to retain his crown with the consistent WALLY (3). Joël Boisnard, however, could spoil
the party with BREIZH EAGLE (1), who will appreciate reverting to the PSF, or RUSSIPANT FAL
(2) whose reappearance was very encouraging. PERLE ROUGE (5), runner-up to WALLY (3) in a
Class 1 this winter, and CARAMELITO (4) complete the shortlist.

SELECTIONS
WALLY (3) – BREIZH EAGLE (1) – RUSSIPANT FAL (2) – PERLE ROUGE (5)

R5 – PRIX CEREALISTE – 1800m (a1m1/8) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 Race – Flat – EUR € 15,000

1. RECREATE – Showed signs of a return to form with blinkers fitted to finish 5th over 2000m at
Marseille-Vivaux on PSF on 14 March
2. DALKAVA – Won over track and trip last month and proved her competitiveness under a 0,5kg
penalty by finishing 3rd over 2000m on the PSF at Marseille-Vivaux on 23 March
3. VIADEIPISPINI – Consistent gelding whose reassuring last-start 4th over 1800m on this course
was encouraging. Respect
4. L’ELU DE SADDLE – Finished 3rd in a claimer on debut at Vichy but has lost his way in four
(unplaced) starts since. Finished 5th in a minor 1700m event at Montluçon – Néris-les-Bains on 1
April
5. LIBRE SAONOIS – Finished a career-best 3rd over track and trip in a similar contest on 15
March. Confirmation required
6. WHAT ELSE – Improving 6-start maiden who finished a career-best 2nd over 1600m at SaintCloud on 16 March. Chief threat
7. MEASTER OWEN – Unplaced in all 3 outings and could only finish 6th over 2400m on this course
on 3 March. Improvement needed
8. ROCKET SCIENCE – Inconsistent filly whose only appearance on PSF resulted in a creditable
3rd over track and trip in a claimer on 30 November. Finished 8th in a 3000m hurdles race at
Fontainebleau on her return 12 March
9. LADY OF NABEUL – Consistent, lightly raced filly with sound references/form credentials,
including a last-start 3rd on heavy ground over 2000m at Compiegne on 10 March. One to beat

Summary: LADY OF NABEUL (9) finished a pleasing 4th in her last appearance on the PSF in a
stronger race/field. She has proven her form and well-being at Compiègne since, so is worth siding
with here. WHAT ELSE (6) is likely to lead the opposition ahead of VIADEIPISPINI (3), confirmed
on this layout/track, and DALKAVA (2) on her return to the scene of her only career success.

SELECTIONS
LADY OF NABEUL (9) – WHAT ELSE (6) – VIADEIPISPINI (3) – DALKAVA (2)

Summary: Although disappointing in recent weeks, SEE THE LIGHT (7) could bounce back to
score at the course of his only success. JAGDA (10) was unlucky in the penultimate run and was
not disgraced last time out so could be a threat this time around.TIMBALLINA (6), has been
consistent so far and deserves respect. SIYOUCHKA (5) won over this track and distance last time
out and is capable of following up.

serious threat on debut. AGORIA (7) ran well on debut but failed to repeat it last time out but would
not be a surprise winner. RIGHT ON FIRE (3) is one of many in this race that can improve off their
