SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SUN 31 MARCH

With the rail out 4m for the entire circuit, this Sunday’s program will be highlighted by the 1400m Metro A contest (Race 7) with trainer Charles Leck strongly represented by two of his stable stars making their long-awaited racetrack return.

Highly rated sprinter GAMESTONKS (2) and last year’s G1 Penang Sprint Trophy winner BERRY BLISS (3) will both resume since the Perak Coronation Cup meeting in November last year. Both runners will enter Sunday’s contest with some handy lead-in trial form, with GAMESTONKS (2) recording a 10-length trial win in 59.3s a week ago Tuesday, while BERRY BLISS (3) travelled strongly when placed in his trial during the week.

GAMESTONKS (2), with 7 wins from 11 Malaysian starts, has never scored over the 1400m trip, which could be a query first-up, while BERRY BLISS (3) is proven at the journey and boasts a good first-up record of 2 wins from 3 starts.

COUNTOFMONTECHRISTO (7) has not won for three and a half years but wasn’t beaten far when resuming over the mile two weeks back and should improve with the distance drop.

He may not be the dominating figure he was a couple of seasons ago on the local circuit, but AWESOME STORM (1) does possess a good second-up record, and his class should never be underestimated.

SAN ANDREAS (8), like several others engaged in this race, will be going around in the 1200m G1 Tunku Gold Cup in three weeks as he prepares to defend his title in this year’s edition.

Trainer Lawson Moy has several winning chances throughout the day, including progressive performer LIM’S BETTERREADY (1), who is building a handy record in Malaysia with 4 wins and 3 placings from 9 starts.

The 6yo appears on track for a winning return in the 1500m Class 4A event (Race 9) and will be reunited with apprentice hoop I Fikri, who has scored three times aboard the gelding from six rides.

Other chances include PACIFIC DIAMOND (2) on the class drop, while FLAMING PHOENIX (7) goes up in grade but drops 8.5kg if apprentice Jerlyn Seow takes her full claim.

AHORSEWITHNONAME (5) trialled well prior to his unplaced effort first-up and should improve.

SAHM (6) raced consistently during his last campaign and also looked sharp in his trial during the week. The 7yo grey is one to watch first up.
