SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SUN 24 MARCH: The inner track (Track Two) will be utilized for the eight-race program at the Selangor Turf Club on Sunday, scheduled to be highlighted by the 1075m Class 3 contest (Race 5).

HIGH WATER (1) will go up in the weights but has been racing in good form recently, including a 1075m Metro A win at this track and distance last month. The 6yo grey wasn’t disgraced in a strong Class 3 lineup a fortnight ago and can bounce back despite the weight rise.

He lines up against progressive performer resuming from a break in MAGIC TURBO (3), who started 6 times for his initial preparation in Malaysia, winning 3 and placing 3 times. The 4yo is first-up since December and will enter Sunday’s contest without a lead-in trial.

KASSAB (2) went around at big odds in his first Malaysian start on February 12, finishing midfield, and will strip fitter from that performance. Only 2.75L from the winner in that Metro A contest, the 7yo trialed well against last week’s Chairman’s Trophy winner, Kong Fu Panda, a couple of weeks ago and could be a major player.

WECANDO (8) has been a consistent performer in the country and backs up from his 4th here last Sunday.

FA FA STAR (4), a fast starter and last-start Ipoh winner, debuts for the Sharee Hamilton stable and could take some catching if able to find the lead.

Race 5 Selections: (1) High Water (3) Magic Turbo (2) Kassab (8) Wecando

From the recent trials, a couple of horses worth watching are FROM THE NAVY, engaged in Race 4, and CAPTAIN TWENTYTWO, who steps out in Race 6.

FROM THE NAVY, who was previously trained in Singapore by Shane Baertschiger, debuts for Charles Leck and looks well-prepared following three trials for the new camp.

The seven-time Kranji winner hasn’t been sighted since finishing 4th behind the Hong Kong-bound Silo on December 9 and has shown good form in training, judging by his trial win in a slick 59.6 seconds earlier this month.

CAPTAIN TWENTYTWO has not been sighted since his debut run on December 10 when he scored impressively over this track and distance against Class 4 opposition.

The 4yo has won a couple of trials in recent weeks and looks primed first-up as he clashes with a couple of in-form seasoned campaigners in OLYMPIA (59kg) and MODRIC (56.5kg).
