Race Preview

R1 – PRIX DES QUATRE GLACIERES – 1400m (a7f) – ALL WEATHER – Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 55,000

1. FERRARI FEVER – Nice 4th in a Class 2 race last time and won both runs before that at this track, the latter over 1300m on February 24th. Can not be overlooked.
2. DAMIEN – Unplaced on the last two runs, 4th before that over 1200m at Deauville on August 24th. Hard to be enthusiastic about.
3. MYSTERY TRAIN – 2nd on the last two runs, the latter at Clairefontaine over 1600m on October 20th. Looks vulnerable on handicap debut.
4. MARIE MANCINI – Nice 2nd in a Class 2 race at Marseille Borely over 1200m on February 27th last time. Hard to dismiss.
5. PARRHESIA – Unplaced last time, 4th before that at Chantilly on January 24th in a Class 2 race over 1600m. Has work to do.
6. HERA – Won last time at Cagnes-Sur-Mer over 1300m on February 26th in a maiden race. Ought to be in the shake-up.
7. LILY OFTHE KINGDON – 2nd last time, won before that at Pornichet over 1700m on January 7th in a handicap. Place claims.
8. NIGHT ACTION – Won last time at Pornichet over 1700m on December 1st in a maiden race. Others seem better equipped.
9. SPRING HEART – Nice 3rd over 1600m at this track in a maiden on March 5th when last seen. Handicap debut and looks to have a good chance for success.
10. ANIELSKA – Unplaced on the last two runs, 3rd before that over 1400m at Chantilly on November 21st. Others seen more likely.
11. KOSLOVKA – 2nd on the last two runs, both at this track in handicap races over 1300m, with the latest on February 24th. One to pay attention too.
12. L’ARDECHOISE – Three runs so far, 3rd on each outing. The latter run was at Chantilly over 1600m on February 16th in a maiden. Among the top chances.
13. STAR FROM THE EAST – 5th last time over 1300m at Chantilly on February 24th in a handicap. Among the leading place chances.
14. MAGIC PERSEVERANCE – Won a Class 3 race last time at Chantilly over 1400m 10 days ago. Will be fit but others look more appealing.
15. ETEL – Won at Cholet over 1350m when last seen on October 7th in a maiden. Handicap debut and has outside place claims.
16. DIDJIE – Three unplaced runs so far, the latter at this track on March 5th over 1600m. Tries a handicap and has some talent and needs to be considered off a low weight.

Summary: In an open handicap with a few of the runners trying handicap company for the first time, it is worth taking a chance on one of them in SPRING HEART (9) who could looks well treated and a bold show can be expected. The same applies to L’ARDECHOISE (12) who has finished third on each run so far and looks assured to have a say at the business end. KOSLOVKA (11) is one to include in all of the place bet permutations. FERRARI FEVER (1) also warrants respect, despite carrying top weight.

R2 – PRIX TANDEM – 1900m (a1m 1/4) – ALL WEATHER – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27,000

1. WAHDAN – Good 2nd at Deauville on the sole run to date over 1900m on December 3rd. Will be better for that run and can score.
2. HAWK POWER – Nice debut when 3rd over 1500m at Deauville on the sole run on December 15. Will be wiser for that run and can feature.
3. DRUMARD – 4th at Deauville over 1900m when last seen on December 29th in a maiden. More required to make an impact.
4. TECUMSEH – 5th last time at Saint-Cloud over 1400m on October 10th when last seen. Might be better once handicapped.
5. NOBLEMAN – Nice 2nd at Chantilly over 1900m on February 15th on his sole outing so far. In the mix.
6. GRETZKY – Fair 4th over this track over 1600m on February 9th on his only start. Will improve and ought to be involved.
7. MEKHXIMAA – Unraced colt by Mekhtaal, will be better for this opening race and should be watched in the betting for clues.
8. OLD LION CEN – Newcomer by Churchill, has Soumillon booked to ride so that is worth paying attention to. The betting should be informative.

Summary: WAHDAN (1) ran a promising race at Deauville on debut when second over 1900m in early December. He can step forward from that and looks the best option in this maiden race. HAWK POWER (2) is a threat having also shown talent on his debut when third over 1500m in December at Deauville. He will be more at home over the extra distance today. GRETZKY (6) and NOBLEMAN (5) are both talented and can not be ruled out of being involved.

R3 – PRIX DU CANAL DE LA MACHINE – 1900m (a1m 1/4) – ALL WEATHER – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 27,000

1. LORD ACHILLES – Unplaced last time, won before that over 1900m in a Class 1 race at Deauville in mid-November. Ought to be in the shake-up.
2. ANTE ALIOS – Won both runs so far, the latter at Dusseldorf (DEU) over 1700m on October 1st. Unlikely.
3. RAQEEBB – Won over 1500m at Deauville on December 15th in a maiden race last time. Up in class and has work to do.
4. CHANCELLERY – Unplaced last time, 2nd before that over 1900m in a Class 2 race at Chantilly on November 14th. Others rate higher.
5. GALASHIELS – Won on his return to action at Chantilly in a Class 3 race after 9 months away on February 29th over 1800m. Can improve from that and win again.
6. CASSIUS – 6th in a Listed race last time over 2000m on October 27th at Chantilly. Can make the frame.
7. JAGUARE PRECIEUSE – Unplaced last time, won before that at Chantilly in a Class 3 handicap on February 16th. Out of her depth.
8. SERIE – Decent 4th in a Listed race last time over 1900m at Deauville on December 21st when last seen. Can play a lead role.

Summary: GALASHIELS (5) can follow up after a confidence-boosting success last time on his return to the track at Chantilly late last month after an absence of 9 months. SERIE (8) could pose as the main danger, she is honest and ran well at Deauville when fourth in a Listed race in late December. LORD ACHILLES (1) is useful on his day and can also be expected to be competitive. CASSIUS (6) heads the remainder.

R4 – PRIX TALWEG – 1900m (a1m 1/4) – ALL WEATHER – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27,000

1. PRINCESS SHALAA – Unplaced last time, but was a credible 4th on her debut before that over 2000m on January 27th. Place chance.
2. PELLEGRIN – Unplaced on the only run at Deauville over 1900m on December 3rd. Will need vast improvement to be involved.
3. DYMKA – 3rd on both runs so far, the latter over 1900m at Chantilly on February 23rd. Needs a few to falter.
4. TROPHANE – Promise on both outings, the latter when 3rd at this track over 1900m on October 31st. Ought to be in the shake-up.
5. PRIVATE DINNING – Two nice runs so far, 3rd at Deauville last time over 1900m on November 29th. One to keep safe.
6. AGORIA – Nice debut 2nd on March 1st over 1900m at this track on the only run so far. Likely to give another good account.
7. UNE DE MAI – Unplaced and well beaten on the sole run at Machecoul over 2350m on February 25th. Hardly inspiring.
8. ADRETT – 3rd at Mons-Ghlin (BEL) over 1500m on the sole run to date on November 23rd. Others rate higher.
9. LE COMBAT CONTINUE – 3rd last time over 1800m on January 11th at Lyon La Soie. Might be better when racing in a handicap.
10. BLUSH – Nice debut 6th at Deauville on December 15th over 1500m on the only run so far. Can improve from that and play a leading role.
11. MOT DOUX – Newcomer by Calyx, stable runners warrant respect on debut. The betting can be the best guide.
12. OMNIDIMENSIONAL – Unraced filly by Ulysses, should improve for this opening run. Monitor the betting for clues.
13. MQSE DU BERGER – Newcomer by Kendargent, the dam won twice. From the Fabre powerhouse. Can be expected to know her job and be involved on debut.

Summary: BLUSH (10) showed she was a filly with a future at Deauville on her debut at the end of 2023. She will be more focused today and looks the best option in this maiden event. Her main rival could be the unraced MQSE DU BERGER (13) who looks good on paper and a bold show can be expected. PRIVATE DINNING (5) will win races judged on her two promising runs so far. She can not be ignored. TROPHANE (4) heads the remainder.
