R1 – PRIX JOCKER – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Class 2 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 53,000
1. SAINT HELLIER – Inconsistent but his means are undeniable. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing
7th in a 2000m PSF Quinte+ handicap at Cagnes on 12 February
2. ZAYA DE LA PLATA – Veteran mare who has been soundly beaten in each of her three Quinte+
appearances at Deauville recently, the latest (14th) of which was over 1900m on 3 February. Can
be confidently overlooked
3. LE NOMADE – Confirmed at this level and boasts a good record on this course too. Finished 3rd
in a 1600m PSF Quinte+ handicap at Cagnes on 15 February and is a leading candidate for
success
4. BIG LOG – Consistent performer with solid form references/credentials, including a Quinté+ win
over course and distance in October. Showed his form and well-being by finishing 5th in a 2000m
Quinte+ race at Cagnes on 17 February
5. LE FREINAY – A proven Quinte+ performer with a good record over this track and trip and sound
references off his current mark. Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 8th in a 1600m Quinte+ at
Cagnes on 17 Jan
6. LEV – Consistent for the most part and has sound references to his name, including 2 places at
Quinte+ level (from 5 starts in this category). Finished 7th on his reappearance over 1500m at
Deauville on 3 February but is probably short of another run
7. TAIRANN – Lightly raced with rock-solid form references/credentials up to 1500m, over which
she finished 3rd in a PSF Quinte+ handicap at Deauville on 3 February. Questions remain regarding
her efficiency at a mile
8. GALIK – Finished unplaced in his only appearance on this course. Has shown his form recently
in claiming races, winning over 1700m at Pornichet on 9 February, but has a lot more on his plate
here
9. ALCANOR – Consistent colt with sound form references, including an improved 2nd in a
conditions race at this venue over 1500m on 24 January when fitted with first -time blinkers
(retained). Quinte+ debut
10. WOFF – Has a win and two places from his 6 appearances on this course. Finished a wellbeaten 11th over 2000m at Cagnes on 12 February but this distance will be much more to his liking
– dark horse
11. NORDESTE – Has won at this level and boasts two wins as well as two places in seven starts
on this course. Was 3rd over 1200m on the PSF at Pau on 18 February but has work cut out for
him here back at a mile
12. DOCTOR RON – Has raced twice on this course at Quinté+ level for a victory and a 3rd.
Finished a reassuring 2nd in first-time blinkers over 1200m at Pau on 18 February 13. ASHIKTASH – Inconsistent but is undeniably capable of holding his own at this level. Finished
a reassuring 3rd in a 1600m PSF claimer at Cagnes on 12 February and Mickaël Barzalona take
the ride – keep safe
14. ALVA – Lightly raced filly with sound references, having already proven her competitiveness at
Quinte+ level. Showed her form and well-being with a last-start victory over 1300m at Deauville on
10 Feb
15. WITHERING – Was 3rd in a 1900m claiming race on this course in December but has finished
unplaced in both outings on PSF at Deauville this year – was 6th over 1500m on 3 February. Others
preferred
16. SHEHNA – Has done no better than a 5th in her three appearances here and has been absent
since finishing 6th over 1500m on this course back in November. Best watched for now
Summary: LE NOMAD (3) amassed a string of podium finishes at this level during the winter and
would’ve regained freshness since his last start so should, given his favourable position in the
starting stalls with Stéphane Pasquier once again in the irons, mount a serious challenge for race
honors. ALCANOR (9) lines up here in good form and physical condition having proved his
competitiveness with blinkers fitted last time (2nd) so seems capable of fighting for victory in his
first start in the Quinte+ category. Mickaël Barzalona’s decision to ride ASHIKTASH (13) instead
has to be respected, while BIG LOG (4) is more than capable (although inconsistent lately) of
acquitting himself competitively at this level too. LE FREINAY (5) and TAIRANN (7) edge out SAINT
HELLIER (1) in completing the shortlist.

R2 – PRIX DE LA BROUTILLERIE – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27,000
1. WAIKATO – Showed enough to work with when finishing in midfield (8th of 15 runners) on debut
over 1500m at Deauville on the PSF on 15 December. Ought to improve with the benefit of that
experience
2. SERQUIGNY – Runner-up on PSF over 1500m at Deauville in December and was 2nd again
over that distance on turf at Cagnes, where he finished a disappointing 6th on turf over 1500m on
1 February. Can’t be written off back on the PSF
3. ELDIO – Highly thought of Siyouni colt with Group I entries in both the Poule d’Essai and Prix du
Jockey Club. Finished a promising 2nd on debut over this course and distance on 9 February and
ought to have come on since
4. FINIMONDO – Improved markedly with the benefit of an introductory outing (12th) to finish 4th
over this course and distance on 16 February. Could have more to offer
5. VAMOS LUIGI – Unplaced in both outings on turf at Saint-Cloud last year, the latest of which
(6th) was over 2000m in November. Open to improvement on his reappearance and first start on
this surface
6. AMERICAN LAWYER – Didn’t go unnoticed when finishing 5th on debut over this track and trip
on 16 February. Would’ve gained plenty from that experience
7. AGUALETO – Finished an encouraging 2nd on debut at Deauville over 1600m but failed to
confirm that promise when only 6th at Saint-Cloud on 10 November (probably unsuited by the
heavy ground). Respected on his return/PSF debut
8. WINNING FORMULA – Runner-up in his first two starts over 1400m at Compiegne last year
before finishing 3rd on the turf over 1800m at this venue when last seen on 13 September. Remains
open to improvement on his reappearance
9. NOIR BLEU – Has improved with each outing and took massive strides in his development when
finishing an encouraging 2nd over this distance at Cagnes on 7 February. Needs to confirm that
progress to be competitive here
10. SITOI – Improved with each start last year and should continue to progress this season. Finished
3rd over 1800m on turf at Chantilly on 4 October and it could pay to follow his progress on his
return, even on PSF for the first time
11. RIGHT ON FIRE – Yvonne Vollmer-trained Dabirsim colt to be ridden on debut by Tony Piccone.
One to keep a close eye on
Summary: Youngsters from the Carlos Laffon-Parias stable have been very prominent recently
and that bodes well for the chances of well-bred SITOI (10) who improved with each outing last
year, so seems good value to make a winning reappearance here with further progress expected
of him this season. ELDIO (3) is the only runner in the race with a Classic entry and would have
benefitted appreciably from his promising debut 2nd so is also a candidate for success. WINNING
FORMULA (8) has been consistent/competitive in each start and that trend ought to continue on
his seasonal reappearance, having shown enough to pose a threat in a race of this ilk.
SERQUIGNY (2) and AGUALETO (7) complete the shortlist.

R3 – PRIX DU CARREFOUR SAINT-REMY – 1400m (a7f) – ALL WEATHER – Claiming – Flat – EUR € 23,000
1. SPIELMAN – Improving last-start winner who has taken a particular liking for the PSF. Won over
1600m at Pau on 4 February and should be formidable in his first start at this level
2. MISTER GAN – Unplaced in each of his three starts this year (all on PSF) in conditions races
over 1300m at Deauville (twice ) and on this course recently (8th on 24 February). Did, however,
finish 4th in his only appearance at this level – lurker
3. VICE CAPTAIN – Recently acquired from England where he performed consistently on turf and
the all-weather surface. Makes his debut on French soil having finished 5th over 1200m at
Wolverhampton on 12 January
4. LIKING – Has finished 4th (at Deauville) and 6th (on this course on 24 February) in his two starts
on PSF, both in handicaps over 1300m. Not to be underestimated in this category off a lower mark
5. CELEBRITY ICON – Bounced back from her disappointing previous outing on turf to finish an
improved 5th back on PSF over 1300m in a conditions race at Cagnes on 26 February. Dark horse
6. MILL LANE – Finished a well-beaten 13th on debut over 1500m on the PSF at Deauville on 15
December. Ought to have gained plenty from that experience but is best watched for now
7. THIENE – Finished 5th in a 1400m claimer on PSF at Deauville in August. Made no impression
in her comeback outing over 1700m on turf at Pornichet (finished 12th) but ought to have refined
her condition since – best watched for now
8. AMOUAGE – Opened his account with a last-start victory in a 1500m PSF claimer at Deauville
on 2 February, in his first outing at this level. Has more to do here but is not to be taken lightly
9. SUN PROJECT – Versatile sort with references on both surfaces, which includes finishing 4th in
consecutive outings over 1500m on PSF at Deauville (the latest of which was on 10 February).
Ought to be competitive
10. PROKOVIEV – Runner-up in a 1900m claimer on PSF at Deauville in December but has failed
to confirm that improvement in 2 subsequent starts. Was only 7th in a 2150m claimer on turf at
Cagnes-sur-Mer on 29 January
11. TEMPO – Improved in his first appearance at this level to finish a reassuring 2nd in a claimer
over 1300m on PSF at Cagnes on 21 February. Could have a role to play here if building on that
progress
12. SPARKLING LIGHT – Consistent filly who has only once finished off the podium (was 4th on
that occasion) in seven starts – twice 2nd and four times 3rd. Wouldn’t be winning out of turn after
an encouraging 3rd over 1400m at Pau on 19 January
13. STABAT MATER – Made no impression on debut when finishing a well-beaten 11th on this
course over 1400m on 16 February. Best watched for now
14. XAARINE – Didn’t go unnoticed when improving to finish 5th over 1600m on the PSF at Cagnes
in her first start at this level on 25 February. Outsider
Summary: SPIELMAN (1) has raised his game in two starts on this surface at Pau and, with more
improvement expected after a last-start victory at a higher level, it could pay to follow his progress
in his first appearance in the claiming category. SPARKLING LIGHT (12) has been a model of
consistency recently, also at Pau, and is likely to pose a threat in her continued pursuit of an elusive
first career success. SUN PROJECT (9) and TEMPO (11) have shown enough in recent outings to
be competitive for the places in a race of this nature.

R4 – PRIX DE LA CROIX DES ORMEAUX – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Maiden – Flat – EUR € 27,000
1. NATIVE PEARL – Finished an underwhelming 6th on debut at Saint-Cloud over 1500m on 30
October, but was probably unsuited by the heavy ground that day. Has Group I entries (Poule
d’Essai and Prix de Diane) so could be worth following
2. INTUITION – Finished 2nd on debut over this course and distance in November but could only
finish 5th over 1800m, again on this course, when last seen on 9 December. Shouldn’t be hastily
condemned
3. SPRING HEART – Runner-up on debut over 1400m on turf and finished 2nd again on her
reappearance (and first start on PSF) over 1500m at Deauville on 26 January. Not taken lightly
4. BETTER TOMORROW – Led for much of the way on debut over 1900m on this course (15
February) before being outrun late to finish 4th. On that evidence, this shorter distance could serve
her interests well
5. ABISOLA – Finished an encouraging 4th on debut over 1900m on the PSF at Deauville on 3
December and ought to improve on her reappearance with the benefit of that experience. Dark
horse
6. AROUND THE WORLD – Acquitted herself well on debut when finishing 3rd, and not a long way
adrift of VERA CAO (8), over this track and trip on 9 February. Will be wiser to the task now
7. ENORA SENORA – Was a satisfactory 6th on debut over 2000m on PSF at Cagnes in January
but failed to improve with the benefit of that experience last time, when only 7th in a 1500m claimer
on turf at that venue on 19 February. Outsider
8. VERA CAO – Caught the eye when finishing 2nd on debut over this track and trip on 9 February.
Highly regarded filly (entered in the Group I Poule d’Essai and Prix de Diane) who should improve
with the benefit of experience
9. GRAND ANGEL – Unplaced in both outings and is unlikely to trouble the judge here on the
evidence of those displays. Could only finish 7th over 1700m on PSF at Pornichet on 9 February
and this is a lot tougher
10. QUARTO GRADO – Didn’t go unnoticed on debut, despite beating just one rival, when finishing
6th on this course over 1300m last month (23 February). Ought to improve with the benefit of that
experience
11. FALBALA – Achieved her career-best performance over this course and distance when
equipped with blinkers in December. Could only finish 10th in a 1300m PSF handicap at Deauville
on 25 January but has the headgear refitted here
12. DIDJIE – Finished 5th in both starts on the turf last year but was far from convincing (7th) in her
first appearance on PSF over this course and distance on 27 October. Has regained freshness but
is best watched for now
13. JIJI MY LOVE – Finished a well-beaten 16th on debut at Cagnes (PSF) over 1500m so is hard
to make a case for on that evidence. Others preferred 14. VEGA – Well-bred Yann Barberot-trained Wootton Bassett filly who is related to the champion
Volvoreta. Not to be taken lightly on debut with Anthony Crastus in the irons
Summary: NATIVE PEARL (1), who cost €550,000 at auction as a yearling, looked ill at ease on
the heavy ground at Saint-Cloud on debut back in October but still acquitted herself well enough to
finish 6th on that occasion. She would have come on appreciably with the benefit of that experience
so is worth siding with here on her reappearance. VERA CAO (8) is, however, likely to fight for
victory if building on the promise of her debut 2nd over this track and trip (has a Group I entry in
both the Poule d’Essai and Prix de Diane). Both AROUND THE WORLD (6) and BETTER
TOMORROW (4), after encouraging introductions of their own, could also pose a threat if
confirming the promise of their debut performances.
