Three Rocks can return to form

Trainer Alan Greeff is having his usual good season, but he could have a particularly good Friday afternoon as his runners in the three feature races on the card look to hold decent winning chances.

Probably, his best of the lot is sprinting filly Three Rocks who runs in Race 7, The Lady’s Pendant (Listed) over 1200m. The Heavenly Blue three-year-old filly has won five of just eight starts. All of her wins have been on this track and was particularly impressive when scoring over the course and distance in September.

It is also worth noting that jockey Richard Fourie has been particularly lethal aboard her winning four of his five rides.

Greeff also saddles Grazinginthegrass in Race 5, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1800m.

Grazinginthegrass was a bit of a disappointment when only fifth in the Algoa Cup last time out after reeling off six victories in a row.

He seemed a bit stretched over 2000m that day and returning from a break could open the door to a defeat from visiting filly Hold My Hand.

The Glen Kotzen-trained filly won for only the second time when scoring last time out at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth over 2000m.

The Gold Standard filly’s merit rating was as high as 115 earlier in her career and if she runs to her current rating of 108 she could be the one to beat.

Another visiting trainer, Candice Bass-Robinson, is also the biggest threat to Greeff winning Race 6, the Ibhayi Stakes (Listed) over 1400m as she brings filly Trip To Maputo to take on Greeff-trained Fairy Knight. Fairy Knight has been very good of late and is seeking his hat-trick after some nice wins but last time out he did make much harder work that one would have liked with his latest win and his stable companion, Legal Thriller, was catching him quickly at the finish. Fairy Knight had proven many lengths superior to Legal Thriller prior to that.

Trip To Maputo won twice earlier in the season and the Trippi filly hinted on a return to winning form when third last time out.
