SELANGOR RACE PREVIEW SUN 18 FEB

Course C will be utilized with the rail out 4m for the entire circuit this Sunday.

Talented performer, CHEVAL BLANC (1), returns to the track for the first time since his narrow victory in the G1 Penang Gold Cup on December 30 and will be targeting four successive wins in the 1400m Supreme B contest (Race 6). The 9yo has renewed his zest for racing since joining the Frank Maynard stable last year, and his Malaysian unbeaten record should remain intact judging by his impressive performances.

TRUMPY (4) for the Buffalo Stable makes his local debut for trainer Lawson Moy and will be first up since November when he finished 2nd to the progressive Bestseller in a Kranji Class 3 race. A proven high-grade performer in Singapore, the 8yo has not been overly taxed in a couple of recent trials and is one to watch first up.

SKYDANCE ECLIPSE (2) reeled off a quick final sectional when 4th over 1200m last Sunday, and the rise in journey will place the 9yo in good stead from pole position.

Ipoh visitor, CHINA CAPTAIN (3), has raced only fairly at this level in the past, but if a wet track prevails on Sunday, he may come into calculations.

Despite four unsuccessful attempts over 1400m, TORNADO PEGASUS (10) wasn’t disgraced when chased down in that memorable race won by Weloveuboss (Ex Lim’s Denali) on Track Two over 1075m here three weeks back. The 7yo has placed up to 1300m and looks a contender with 53.5kg less the claim.

Race 6 Selections: (1) Cheval Blanc (4) Trumpy (2) Skydance Eclipse (3) China Captain

VALERIE PEGASUS (7) has been flying, recording four wins from ten runs this preparation, and will be the likely popular pick in the 1200m Class 4 event (Race 4). Coming off an all the way victory over 1275m on Track Two last start, the 4yo can once again dictate from the top end in a race devoid of early speed.

EMPHATIC (5), a Class 4 winner over this journey in October, was well supported when finishing just outside the placings first up on January 21. The 5yo will strip fitter and should be considered.

NO REGRETS (6) was also resuming when running home powerfully from last at the 400m to finish 4th over 1175m three weeks ago. The 7yo has won seven times at the trip and has won second up previously.

NOVA FACTOR (9) is perhaps the only other runner capable of leading and will be prominent for a long way. The 8yo broke through in Class 4 on December 24 prior to a head defeat over 1300m last start.

WATCH OUT BOSS (1), a winner over 1100m two starts back, goes up 3.5kg from his last start 2nd over 1175m and normally races best if a genuine tempo is set throughout.

Race 4 Selections: (7) Valerie Pegasus (5) Emphatic (6) No Regrets (9) Nova Factor
