Singapore-based jockey Marc Lerner will be making his first appearance in Malaysia as he takes up seven rides (including one emergency acceptor) across the eight-race fixture at Selangor on Sunday.
Lerner kicked off the New Year in style by winning the first three races of the opening day on THE SHADOW, SEPTEMBER, and FLAMING MIGLIORE, and later added a fourth win on KHAO MANEE during the program on January 6th. His current tally for the season is eight wins.
Crossing the causeway this weekend, Lerner will ride WATCH OUT BOSS (Race 4), RESOLUTE (Race 5, emergency acceptor), and TRUMPY (Race 6) for trainer Lawson Moy, who currently leads the table with eight winners, tied with Simon Dunderdale.
TRUMPY ewarrants plenty of respect first-up in Malaysia, based on the strong form he brings with him from across the causeway in Singapore.
Though he has not won a race for a long time, he rarely was beaten far away in a finish, including a close-up fourth and second to quality gallopers such as MAXIMA and BESTSELLER in his final two Kranji starts.
Dunderdale has also booked Lerner for QIJI STAR (Race 1) and ATTENTION (Race 3).
Lerner’s other two rides are BIG BAD MAMA (Race 2), trained by Teh Ming Wan, and the last-start winner BE YOURSELF (Race 7), from the stables of Cheng Han Yong.
Also crossing the causeway on Sunday is F Yusoff who has 2 rides for HY Cheng, LET’S COME ON BABY (Race 1), THOUSAND MILE EYE (Race 5), one for Siva, D’GREAT DUCHESS (Race 9).
Jerlyn Seow, who won two races when she last rode here two weeks ago. Seow has four rides: MY GOODNESS (Race 1), WINNING POWER (Race 2), CONGAREE (Race 5), MEWTWO (Race 7) and SILENT PRINCE (Race 8).
