1. BEYOND MY DREAMS – Nice 2nd last time over 1400m in a Class 4 race at Pau on January
12th. Ought to be in the shake-up
2. O GRE DES SAISONS – Two unplaced runs of late, 3rd before that over 1200m in mid-November
in a Class 4 handicap. Makes limited sense
3. THE DIG – Four unplaced runs recently, 3rd before that over 1200m at Toulouse in a Class 4
race. Place chance
4. JASMIN DORE – 2nd over 1200m at Toulouse in a Class 4 race when last seen in early
December. Can make the top three
5. BLACK COSMO – Has several unplaced runs of late, the best was when 4th over 1600m in July
in a claimer. Unlikely
6. ELCOT – Unplaced last time, won over 1600m at Pau before that in a Class 3 handicap on
January 4th. Needs a few to falter
7. CAPELENA – Unplaced last time, 4th before that at Angouleme on October 29th in a Class 3
race over 1000m. Player
8. BOWDRAGON – Five unplaced efforts in 2023, the latter at Deauville on 26th of December over
1300m. Makes limited appeal
9. EXPLORAR – Has been shaping well without scoring of late, 4th at Nimes three runs back over
1200m on November 1st. In the mix
10. IZAKAYA – Has dropped in the ratings after a few unplaced runs, 6th over 1400m last time at
Pau was a reasonable effort. Can make the frame at nice odds
11. BLUECTOT – Has been out of form, well beaten at Pau over 1600m on January 4th when last
seen over 1600m. Avoidable
Summary: Despite top-weight BEYOND MY DREAMS (1) can get back in the winner’s enclosure
and gets the vote ahead of the chief threat JASMIN DORE (4) who was a good second at Toulouse
in early December and can make the selection work hard. IZAKAYA (10) will be nice odds and is
one to include in all of the place bet permutations. EXPLORAR (9) also needs careful consideration
and should have a say at the finish.

2. CADE’S – 2nd three runs ago over 1850m at Agen in late November in a Class 4 handicap.
Should not be overlooked
3. AFGHANY – Has been shaping credibly on the last two runs, 6th over 1600m in a Class 3
handicap last time, and a winner in October over the same trip. Hard to rule out
4. IDAHO JAMES – Won the last two runs, the latest over 1200m in a Class 4 event on December
4th. Might be a bit high in the ratings now
5. EL BNOUD – Has been 3rd on three of her last five runs, the latest was over 2000m in a Class
4 race 14 days ago. Can have a say
6. IMAGINE CHOP – Five unplaced efforts of late, 3rd before that at Dax in June over 1200m.
Needs a few to falter
7. MONSIEUR EMILE – Has several unplaced efforts and has yet to win in 50 attempts. Limited
ability and can be overlooked

the frame

these too smart

15. BECHO – 6th last time over 1600m at Pau in a Class 4 race in mid-January. Capable of a
prominent role
16. MAMA JUANA – Three unplaced runs recently, 3rd before that over 1850m in a Class 4
handicap at Agen on November 27th. Others preferred
Summary: AZUR AS WELL (14) could be the best option in an open-looking handicap after a nice
run last time when third at Pau on January 8th. EL BNOUD (5) has been placed three times out of
his last five runs and ought to make his rivals work hard for success. YSSINGEAUX (10) is also
worth considering and could make the frame at generous odds. AFGHANY (3) should also run well
and is not one to be overlooked.

Class 4 race. Out of form and best avoided
12. HARIASA – 3rd last time in a Class 4 handicap at Pau in early January over 2400m. Inconsistent
13. BLACK GAIA – Three unplaced runs of late, 4th before that over 2000m at Pau in a Class 4
handicap in November. Others preferred
14. COCOA – Unplaced on the last two runs, 3rd before that over 2400m at Toulouse in December
in a Class 4 event. Vulnerable
Summary: TEMPLE GATE (3) can get back in the winner’s enclosure after a pleasing third at Pau
when last seen on January 10th. JARDIN BLEU (5) will do his best to make life difficult and is one
to pay attention to. THE MAGIC MAN (7) also warrants respect and can have a say at the business
end of the race. CLEVER ACTRESS (6) scored at Toulouse last time and is sure to give another
good account of herself.

December 4th when he last raced. Hard to ignore

13. CNICHT – 5th on the latest outing over 2100m at Limoges on December 2nd in a Class 4 event.

One to keep safe
15. MAD RIVER – Nice effort when 4th at Pau in a Class 3 race last time on January 10th. Form
pick
Summary: Bottom weight MAD RIVER (15) has decent claims to score after a good run at Pau
when fourth in early January when last seen. BAZOQUES (3) could be the biggest danger having
shaped well when second two starts ago in a Class 3 handicap at the end of December. WEMATCH
(9) will be full of confidence after a win last time at Pornichet 19 days ago. MOON DREAM (7) is
one for each way backers to look at closely.
