Race Preview
R1 – PRIX PRINCELINE – 1600m (a1m) – ALL WEATHER – Class 2 – Flat – EUR € 28,000
1. PRINCE A RIO – Consistent colt with sound form references, including a win (November) and
two 3rd-place finishes (December) in three starts at this track, the latest in a Class 2 over course
and distance. Big runner
2. RETORT – Reliable Frankel colt who finished 4th in a Class 2 over course and distance in his
latest outing on 7 December. Will be a factor
3. MALTOCK D’ORGERES – Has won twice on PSF, including on this track over 1800m.
Finished 2nd in a Claiming race over 1900m earlier this month but this demands more of him
4. VEZDARA – Improving last-start winner who opened her account last time by winning a maiden
from the front over 1800m at this venue last month. Can follow up with further progress expected
5. PARRHESIA – Debut winner at Vittel in July and has maintained a good level of form and
experience since. Finished 4th in a Conditions race over 1600m on PSF at Pornichet-La Baule
last month
6. UNIGENA – Confirmed the promise of her debut 5th over 1900m on PSF at Deauville by
winning over that track and trip last month. Should have more to offer
Summary: Improving VEZDARA (4) opened her account with a start-to-finish success over
1800m last time and is, with the likelihood of further progress, good value to follow up here. She
will, however, be tested by PRINCE A RIO (1), who has a good record at this venue, and
RETORT (2) who is closely matched with that rival on recent form.

R2 – PRIX DE LA ROUTE DES FERMETTES – 2700m (a1m 1/2) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 19,000
1. NORMFLUCHTIGE – Won back-to-back outings on turf over 2400m at La Roche-Posay in
September and, most recently, in a handicap at Amines over 2900m in November. Has more to
do here in her first start on PSF
2. CANOUANN – Improving, lightly raced gelding who finished 3rd over 2100m at Pornichet-La
Baule on 27 December. Will be hard to beat with further progress expected over this longer
distance
3. GRUSHENKA – Improved for the step up in trip to 3100m last time when finishing 2nd in a
Pornichet-La Baule maiden six days ago. Will be a factor here if confirming that progress
4. SALMARAK – Experienced filly with sound references on turf. Was a well-beaten 11th of 16 in
her first start on PSF at Pau on 31 December, so is probably best watched for now
5. BELLBIRD – Was a tad disappointing, though not disgraced, when finishing 5th of 9 in a
2500m Maiden last month at Deauville. Retains the means to play a leading role in a race of this
nature
6. RIKA DE LA VIS – Showed early promise but has been inconsistent recently. Finished
unplaced (9th) in a Class 3 over 3400m on PSF at Deauville earlier this month, so will need to
bounce back to be competitive here
Summary: Lightly raced CANOUANN (2) has taken time to come to hand but is on the right track
and improving with each outing. He finished a good 3rd last time out and needn’t improve a great
deal on that effort to open his account here. BELLBIRD (5), who was runner-up here back in
November when in the care of André Fabre, has the means to fight for victory in receipt of 2kg
from that male rival. RIKA DE LA VIS (6) could prove best of the rest if bouncing back to her
earlier form/promise.

R3 – PRIX DU MARAIS DU LYS – 1500m (a7f 1/2) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 23,000
1. MISSOURI – Won three consecutive claiming races before changing hands and didn’t go
unnoticed in his first start for connections, finishing 6th in a Conditions race at this venue on 27
December. Not taken lightly
2. ESHIYA – Lightly raced filly who had won two of her three starts, including one here over
1600m, before finishing unplaced (11th) in a Listed race over 1900m on 21 December. This drop
in class will serve her interests
3. KLEORA – Only narrowly beaten when 2nd at Deauville on 6 January in her first start on PSF
in Class 3 handicap. Will have a role to play
4. CALAS – Consistent PSF performer who made an encouraging comeback after 11 months out
by finishing 4th at Deauville over 1900m on 5 January. Ought to have improved his condition
5. ALCANOR – Experienced colt with sound/consistent form references on PSF, including a
creditable 3rd in a claimer over 1500m at Deauville last month. Place chance
6. LERY – Debut winner at La Teste-de-Buch in August 2022. Has been consistent, albeit
sparingly raced, but has not been seen since finishing 2nd at Tarbes in October and is making
her first start on PSF
7. MY UNIVERSE – Seldom finishes far off the mark, although was a well-beaten 9th in a Quinte+
handicap over 1600m at ParisLongchamp when last seen in July. Best watched for now
8. KARELIA – Capable filly with two turf victories to her name but fewer references on PSF.
Finished unplaced in her last two outings (both on this surface), so has no more than a place
chance here
Summary: ESHIYA (2) won two of three outings before trying her luck last time in a Listed race,
in which she finished unplaced, and this drop in grade should see her bounce back to winning
ways. KLEORA (3) was touched off in her first start on the PSF at Deauville last time and is likely
to pose a threat, along with CALAS (4) who ought to improve following an encouraging comeback
outing. MISSOURI (1) completes the shortlist.

R4 – PRIX DE LA PREMIERE ROUTE RONDE – 1900m (a1m 1/4) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 – Flat – EUR € 23,000
1. I’M A BELIEVER – Consistent for the most part and not disgraced in either of his last two starts
(7th) on PSF in Quinte+ handicaps over course and distance, latest of which was back in
November. Not taken lightly
2. LINGOTTO – Honest campaigner who won a PSF claiming race off his current mark before
finishing 5th at the same level last time on 26 December at Deauville. Outsider
3. O’SSITOT – Inconsistent but an undeniably capable sort who, judged on the form of his 3rd
over track and trip in a handicap on 7 December, ought to have a role to play here. Keep safe
4. INKIOSTRO – Last-start winner of a course-and-distance handicap on 30 December. Up 3kg
for that win but ought to remain competitive
5. STRAKO – Talented two-year-old in 2022 but raced just twice last year. Made an encouraging
comeback (6th) in a Class 3 Conditions race at Deauville on 5 January and ought to have come
on since. Warrants respect
6. KLIFF BERE – Consistent performer who has taken well to the PSF and was unlucky to only
finish 4th in a handicap over course and distance last time. Good value to gain compensation
here
7. ASPIRANT – Runner-up in consecutive claiming races at Deauville recently, the last of which
was on 6 January over 1900m. Dark horse
8. CONSORT ROYAL – Has improved in her two starts on PSF after a five-month break from
June to November. Won a Class 3 conditions race over 2400m at Lyon-La Soie last time out on
11 December
9. DEL CIELO – Revealed serious means last year but has not been seen since blotting her
copybook in a Quinte+ race (handicap) over course and distance on 26 October. Watch for now
Summary: A small but competitive field from which KLIFF BERE (6) is good value to emerge
victorious, having been unlucky to only finish 4th over track and trip last time. He gets the nod
here ahead of STRAKO (5) who ought to have improved following a pleasing comeback outing at
Deauville earlier this month. O’SSITOT (3) and I’M A BELIEVER (1) should acquit themselves
competitively too.

R5 – PRIX SOLOW – 1800m (a1m 1/8) – ALL WEATHER – Class 1 – Flat – EUR € 38,000
1. DAWN INTELLO – Boasts strong, good feature race form and should be very hard to beat.
Finished ninth last time but won a Listed over 1900m at Deauville before that. Strong win choice
2. ANGEL’S TRUMPET – Has been competing with aplomb in Italy at various courses and should
be able to place in French debut. Last run was in a Group 3 over 2000m when third. Strong
chance. Include in all bets
3. PADRE PALOU – Makes his local debut, was a winner of his last start over 1950m at
Dortmund and should be competitive in this. Others preferred for the win bus has a huge place
chance
4. ALREHB – Makes local debut but can be right there at the finish. Has placed fifth in last two
which were in Listed races in Great Britain and can be expected to go close. Serious claims
5. SWEET AUTHOR – Will need to improve a lot on local debut when finishing downfield. An
outsider with more to do. Include in larger quartet perms. Hard to like
6. ARADOUS – Makes local debut, finished second over 1950m at Dortmund last time. More to
do for the win, but can place. Chance
7. MARMARA STAR – Was a winner in Belgium last time and before that was competing
successfully in England. Has a place chance in this small line up
Summary: DAWN INTELLO (1) is a good animal. He has been competing with authority in strong
feature races recently. He won a Listed race in late November of last year and he is, no doubt,
the one they all have to fear the most. ANGEL’S TRUMPET (2) makes his French debut. He has
come from Italy where he has acquitted himself well. He could be absolutely anything here and is
a must for all bets. ALREHB (4) was not far off them in two Listed races recently and can threaten
in his local run. PADRE PALOU (3) won his last start which was at Dortmund over 1950m. He
can be involved in the finish.

R6 – PRIX DE LA PLAGE DU LYS – 2100m (a1m 1/4) – ALL WEATHER – Class 4 – Flat – EUR € 16,000
1. QUARTZDARGENT – Running well and knocking loudly at the door albeit against weaker
recently. Finished second at Nancy over 3000m last November. Suggest that he is respected and
included in this
2. CAP FAREWELL – Was seen in a claiming race last time when sixth over 2500m at Deauville.
Was a winner five starts back and is a must for everything. Strong each way shout
3. BOCCIATORE – Has been in some hot Handicaps recently and takes a considerable drop in
competition. Expect progression on latest sixth over 1900m. Can threaten. Place proposition
4. NIGHTDANCE MAN – Running well enough to keep us interested. Placed fourth over 3100m in
a competitive Handicap at Saint-Cloud in penultimate run and should be right there. Strong place
chance
5. ROMANELLO – Has patch form, been running in weak races but can be expected to be
competitive in this field. Finished third three runs back and despite having to do more for the win,
can be included in the quartet
6. SCREEN SHOT – A much better effort last time when fourth at Pornichet. Will have a squeak
again if confirming that sudden improvement. Hard to assess but last run keeps us interested.
Value consideration
7. ALJADEED – Makes local start, finished second over 2300m in Belgium last time and could
place first up here. More needed for the win but has a place shout. Include
8. MOMOUR – Is returning from a long rest but did have competitive form before that. Won
penultimate and if not needing it too much, could place. Worth consideration
9. SHANGHAI SPIRIT – Can be expected to serve up much better than he has been recently.
Last run when eighth over 2500m in a Handicap at Deauville was some hope of better to come.
Strong each way chance
10. AL JAROUD – Running consistently well of late and would be worth including based on that.
Caught the eye when third at this track last time but it was a long time ago. More than likely will
need the run but cannot be ignored. Can run fresh. Place
11. PARTICULIERE DREAM – Will need to take things a lot more seriously than he has been
recently and therefore would be a surprise winner. Advisable to go with others in this line up.
Unlikely
12. I EXCEL – Will need progression on latest form. Finished sixth in last two and way downfield
before that. Others preferred. Very small place chance at best, but unlikely
13. SUNDAYINMAY – Current form leaves a lot to be desired and she will need to step up to the
plate to threaten. Can be ignored from all bets as would be a shock winner
Summary: SHANGHAI SPIRIT (9) has shown ability but his last few efforts have been way below
par. His last run was a lot better when eighth and he is a horse that can never be ignored,
especially in a average field such as this. He is selected to bounce right back to very best and is
therefore the first suggestion. NIGHTDANCE MAN (4) is never too far adrift the winners and has
done fairly well in competitive Handicaps. He can go close. ROMANELLO (5) is making us wait
for the next win but has been putting in some encouraging attempts. One for the shortlist and all
bets. BOCCIATORE (3) can do way better and has a firm place chance.

R7 – PRIX DU CARREFOUR DE CHARLET – 2100m (a1m 1/4) – ALL WEATHER – Class 3 Divided Handicap – Flat – EUR € 21,000
1. SUNWHITE – Caught the eye when placing fifth over 2100m at Pornichet last time. A must for
all bets. Strong each way chance
2. VENICE WAY – Never far off the action, penultimate fifth over 2500m at Deauville in a
Handicap is what catches the attention. More needed for the win but is a quartet perm inclusion
3. BLACK HILLS – Finished ninth over 2500m at Deauville last month in a Handicap and needs
to do much more to win this. Happy to ignore
4. ATACAMA DU MAZET – Has shown very little in all three starts to date but could have some
improvement to come. Rather wait for the progression if it comes. Pass by
5. KUP DAVIS – Last few runs have been very disappointing. Finished near last, last time at
Deauville over 2500m and would be a shock winner. Many others should beat her
6. MYRIADE – She finished fourth over 1900m in a Handicap at this track last time. Makes her
2024 debut and must be respected. Can win
7. ARYA – Lightly raced, fair fifth last time over 2500m at Deauville earlier this month in a
Handicap and can get a tad closer now. Place value choice
8. SWEET LULLABY – Has not shown very much thus far and will need to progress on recent
eighth place. Others should have her measure in this contest and can be ignored
9. ELZE – Might still be able to improve on what we have seen in all three runs. Wait for
improvement. Needs improvement. Happy to pass by
10. LES EMBRUNS – Form has been on the decline over various distances and race courses and
seems to be battling to progress. Unlikely winner
11. NAIADE – Needs to step up to the plate on latest seventh over 1600m at this course earlier
this January but far prefer others. Hard to like
12. ADHAMIY – Ignore last run when letting the side down badly. Finished second over 1900m in
a Handicap at this track late last month. Should be very competitive
13. PANZER – Attractive third over 2150m in Handicap company at Lyon La Soie on the 3rd of
January and can place again. An outsider that can place
14. STELLAR JAY – Ignore last run when downfield, finished second over 1900m in a Handicap
at this course earlier this month. The horse to beat
15. SOIZIYA – Could only manage sixth last time when seen at this course over 1900m in a
Handicap, late last year. Can do better and has a chance
16. MA BEREZINA – Finished an uninspiring seventh at Pornichet in December over 3100m and
needs to do a lot more to threaten here. Hard to make a case for
Summary: STELLAR JAY (14) is a daughter of Zoffany whom has become a tad erratic to
predict. In saying that, her penultimate run at this course was outstanding and on that alone, rates
the one to beat. MYRIADE (6) is a filly that is taking time to win the maiden but is earning stake
money along the way. She should win soon and has strong each way claims. SUNWHITE (1) is
never far adrift the vanguard and therefore a must for the shortlist. Ignore her penultimate run,
she is way better than that as her most recent effort suggests. ADHAMIY (12) can be forgiven for
the horrible last race and judged on earlier consistent form. Strong chance of placing.
