The Selangor Turf Club delegation scored a record breaking purchase at the New Zealand Bloodstock 2023 Ready To Run Sale held at Karaka, Auckland on 22nd and 23rd November 2023.
In an effort to increase the horse population at the Selangor Turf Club, the Chairman of Selangor Turf Club, Tan Sri Datuk Richard Cham Hak Lim led a delegation of new and existing owners, trainers and management staff of the Club to the Sale. The Selangor Turf Club based buyers were able to bid for the horses of their choice, first hand directly from the seller.
The group amassed a total of 28 horses costing close to NZD1.8 million. Trainer HY Cheng who secured 10 lots at the Sale sealed his bid for Lot 1, an El Roca Bay Clot out of Daly River for NZ$400,000, being the highest purchased lot among the Malaysia team.
Among the participants in the delegation of 30 people were prominent owner, Mr Tan Tiang Huat, Trainers Simon Dunderdale, Shane Ellis, Wayne Lim, HY Cheng, Shree Hamilton, Ananthen and CEO of Selangor Turf Club, Dato’ Michael Fong.
The Club ensured that buyers had the access to professional service provided by Selangor Turf Club Senior Veterinary Surgeon Dato’ Dr Shri Kanth who was in attendance at Karaka Sale site to screen through depository of x-rays and endoscope and advised the owners and trainers in their potential bid.
“28 lots were a huge success compared to 19 two-years-old purchased last year. This fresh purchases would help to strengthen the existing horse population at the Club. I am overwhelmed by the support shown by the horse owners and trainers who took the effort to attend and made purchases at the Sales. A big thank you from the Club to all of them” said Tan Sri Richard Cham who was very pleased with the fruitful trip to New Zealand.
