HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 1, Gallops, 800m, Turf, R120,000, 12:20GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: The first juvenile race of the season in KZN. A per normal, two-year-old king Michael Miller has five of the nine runners. Going on jockey bookings, stable jockey Tristan Godden will no doubt have had the choice so FINE ONE (1) could be the stable elect. Kom Naidoo also likes to get his youngsters off early and WORLD PHAROAH (8) could be worth watching in the market. SON OF ERUPT (9) and QUELIMANE (4) are both inmates of the Miller yard while IBHELE (6) could also be a runner.
Selections:
#1 FINE ONE, #8 WORLD PHAROAH, #9 SON OF ERUPT, #7 BUMBLE BEE GOLD
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 2, Gallops, 2600m, Turf, R78,000, 12:55GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Garth puller holds the cards here as he saddles four of the seven runners however, BILLY OF TEA (4) finally got it right for Mike Miller after starting favourite at his previous five starts. He obviously enjoyed the 2400m trip and can follow up although he takes on a seasoned Puller army best of which could be TRUE TROJAN (6) with Richard Fourie aboard. The gelding showed up well first run out of the maidens behind stable companion Twice Golden and a repeat should see him running on. ROCK FALL (7) gives weight to all but Calvin Habib replaces a string of apprentice riders. The gelding stays well and could prove a touch too classy in spite of the burden. TOP TEN (3) only has 48kg to shoulder and could be the Puller hare.
Selections:
#4 BILLY OF TEA, #7 ROCK FALL, #6 TRUE TROJAN, #3 TOP TEN
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 3, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80,000, 13:30GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Sean Veale can make a winning return to the saddle after his horrific fall when he partners TEATIME TIPPLE (7) for Stuart Ferrie. The gelding is course and distance suited and has gone close over the distance at his last two. SPECMAGIC (9) has been trying further at recent starts but the drop back to a sprint with a 4kg claimer up will make him dangerous. There are a number of debutantes in the field where the exposed form is rather thin so watch the betting. THE BIG SHORT (5) was not sighted on debut but Chase Maujean rides opposed to his stable runner DYNASTY’S LAST (2) who should need further.
Selections:
#7 TEATIME TIPPLE, #9 SPECMAGIC, #5 THE BIG SHORT, #4 SEND ME
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 4, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R80,000, 14:05GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Tricky maiden. VIHAAN’S QUEEN (8) made a smart debut at long odds in soft ground for Gareth van Zyl. She should come on from that and could prove the one to beat. ELEGANT ACT (11) has drawn wide but has improved at recent outings and stays the trip. Tony Rivalland saddles CELTIC BEAUTY (14) who has drawn widest of all but found solid market support on debut. She was not far back and if Richard Fourie can get her favourably positioned, she must have a strong chance of recouping some losses. ONE SMART COOKIE (9) raced in feature company last start when going the mile for the first time. This looks to be a better trip.
Selections:
#8 VIHAAN’S QUEEN, #11 ELEGANT ACT, #9 ONE SMART COOKIE, #14 CELTIC BEAUTY
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 5, Gallops, 1600m, Turf, R80,000, 14:45GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: THE NIGHTINGALE SINGS (4) ran a smart race on debut for Gareth van Zyl when sent over a mile first time out. She should come on lengths from that effort. FAIRY TRIP (10) has a wide draw but has earned in four of her five starts to date. She stays the trip and will be a strong contender. Gary Rich sends out JOAN THE WAD (12) has the worst of the draw but has been improving with every outing and should be close to her best now. Kom Naidoo’s filly with the short tail, WESTSTOCKMARKETBORSE (11) is the likely pacesetter and could give a good lead to Joan The Wad.
Selections:
#4 NIGHTINGALES SING, #10 FAIRY TRIPP, #12 JOAN THE WAD, #11 WESTOCKMARKETBORSE
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 6, Gallops, 1400m, Turf, R80,000, 15:20GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Open handicap. CAVALIERI (7) has his third run after a break for MJ Odendaal. He is down in class and should strip close to his peak. PURPLE OPERATOR (8) comes from the in form yard of Duncan Howells. The gelding was a close-up second on the poly last start but the trip and the switch to turf should suit. JOSHUA HOTSNAKE (6) looks held by Purple Operator on their last meeting but Wendy Whiteheads charge has been consistently placed at recent outings and should be thereabouts again. EDDIE THE MOVER (9) is never far off them but does appear to be slightly more effective on the poly.
Selections:
#7 CAVALIERI, #8 PURPLE OPERATOR, #6 JOSHUA HOTSNAKE, #9 EDDIE THE MOVER
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 7, Gallops, 1000m, Turf, R80,000, 15:55GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Garth Puller sends out WINTER BARON (4) who took on stronger last run with a 4kg claiming up. He is down in class here and a more experience 4kg claimer and a repeat will see him close. CAPTAIN WARA (3) has his first run for Wayne Badenhorst. He was an easy maiden winner back in July and was good enough to finish just over four lengths back to Sanderingham Summit in a feature. He obviously has a touch of class and if ready could take a lot of beating. MASK ON (15) followed up his maiden win beating his stable companion, Cotton Ron. Chase Maujean stays with the ride in preference to DONQUERARI (8) but there should not be much between the two. FAUSTINO (5) has yet to regain his form after a move to the Highveld but he is talented on his day and can cause an upset.
Selections:
#4 WINTER BARON, #3 CAPTAIN WARA, #15 MASK ON, #5 FAUSTINO
HOLLYWOODBETS SCOTTSVILLE, 29.11.2023, Race 8, Gallops, 1200m, Turf, R80,000, 16:30GMT+2
Race Summary: Summary: Difficult handicap. Gareth van Zyl saddles three lively contenders. CONVOCATION (3) would appear to be the pick but stable rider Athandiwe Mgudlwa has opted for the less exposed MAMAS BABY (12). The latter jumps in class but may be worth watching in the market. ACACIA’S BLOSSOM (2) took on males and stronger at her last start. She has an experienced 4kg claimer aboard and goes well on this track. SWEET SYMPHONY (6) won her last two over course and distance for Mike Miller but she got a five-point rise in the handicap which is a concern.
Selections:
#2 ACACIA’S BLOSSOM, #6 SWEET SYMPHONY, #12 MAMAS BABY, #3 CONVOCATION
Best Win: #7 TEATIME TIPPLE
Best Value Bet: #4 WINTER BARON
Best Longshot: #9 ONE SMART COOKIE
