The Singapore Turf Club has granted one-day visiting jockey licences to Australian jockeys Jake Bayliss and Andrew Adkins to ride at the Singapore Gold Cup meeting on Saturday, 11 November.

Bayliss has been booked by trainer David Kok to ride Pacific Emperor in the Group 1 Singapore Gold Cup (2000m) while Adkins has been engaged by trainer Donna Logan to ride Istataba in this third Leg of the Singapore Triple Crown series.

Jake Bayliss

The 29-year-old Jake Bayliss first rode in Singapore for nine months last year when he booted home 19 winners, including the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup aboard Prosperous Return and the Group 2 Singapore Three-Year-Old Classic atop Golden Monkey.

In late 2022, he returned to his former base in Queensland, Australia to continue riding. To-date, the Ipswich native, whose father Jamie was a former jockey and younger brother Regan is currently a jockey plying his trade in Sydney, has ridden more than 400 winners in 11 years of riding.

First indentured to ex-Kranji trainer Mick Kent at Cranbourne, Bayliss spent his first four formative years in Victoria before moving to New Zealand at the end of 2017 where he went on to ride three Group 1 winners – Volpe Veloce in the 2018 Railway Stakes, On The Rocks in the 2019 Herbie Dyke Stakes and Nicoletta in the 2019 NZ Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes.

Currently licensed by Racing Queensland, Bayliss sits 14th on the Queensland Metropolitan jockeys’ premiership on four wins. He goes to scale at 53kgs.

Andrew Adkins

Andrew Adkins, 26, will be riding in Singapore for the first time. Born in Port Macquarie, New South Wales, Adkins made his riding debut in 2013 at the Port Macquarie racecourse before moving to Sydney, where he was indentured to Australia’s Hall of Fame trainer Rob Quinton. He then claimed the 2016/2017 New South Wales Metropolitan apprentice jockey title.

In 10 years of riding, Adkins has clocked in more than 300 winners, including his only Group 1 win thus far in the 2018 Group 1 Coolmore Classic with Daysee Doom for Quinton. He has also won four Group 2 and three Group 3 races.

Besides Australia, Adkins has also ridden in Macau and New Zealand. Currently licensed by Racing New South Wales, Adkins sits in 30th position on two winners on the New South Wales Metropolitan jockeys’ premiership this season.

He goes to scale at 50kgs.
