November 4 Selangor Preview by Mark Lydeamore

Speed maps play an important role in regards to predicting race patterns and identifying pacemakers and punters should place greater emphasis on the maps when it comes to racing on the Inner track (Track Two) at Selangor Turf Club this Saturday. The last time Track Two was utilized was back on September 24 and it turned out to be a leaders paradise with six of the eight winners leading throughout. The other two winners raced on speed indicating that if you take a forward position on the tighter circuit, your chances of winning increase rapidly.

One galloper which thrives on this track is the speedy mare SIMLONG BEACH (2), which should have the pace to lead all the way in the 1075m Class 4 event (Race 8). For the first time in numerous starts, she was beaten for early pace here three weeks ago before finishing 4th. Jockey SU Lim rode the mare to victory two starts back and the pair have been reunited on Saturday. Of the others TAKREEM (5) has been racing well in the grade without winning and was given a quiet trial here on Tuesday morning. ARIF (7) faded late on the upgrade last start but is a reliable beginner and proven performer in Class 4 grade. SYMBOL OF COURAGE (1) possesses a handy first up record (5:2-2-0) and was pushed out in a 400m trial here Tuesday week ago. There was heavy market support for BATTLESTAR (9) at his first Class 4 appearance recently and looks a genuine chance with the 53kg.

A couple of progressive types should provide an enthralling battle in the high grade New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Handicap (Race 6). MAGIC TURBO (3) and SKYLIGHT (5) have both won three from four locally and will be making their Class 3 debuts over the 1075m trip. MAGIC TURBO (3) has race fitness on his side after successive wins in Class 4 grade and S Ruzaini will take the reins for the first time aboard the 4yo. SKYLIGHT (5) has vastly improved since joining the Ipoh stables of Stephen Cook this year following five unplaced efforts in Singapore. The 6yo mare was successful first up in her last preparation and will be tough to beat despite resuming from the 83 day break. DABBLE (10) could provide the minor upset with the 53kg and his early pace should place him in good stead to be prominent throughout. RONALDO’S DREAM (4) is well catered for in this distance range and rarely runs a bad race while ZANJABEEL (6) can improve with the drop back to 1075m.
