French jockey Louis-Philippe Beuzelin made a quiet exit from Singapore, riding his last race at Kranji on Saturday, October 28th.
The 32-year-old concluded his five-year riding stint in Singapore on a high note, winning aboard Stephen Gray-trained Bransom, a horse Beuzelin has a perfect three-from-three record with.
Beuzelin is scheduled to depart for Australia on Tuesday to continue his riding career in Sydney. However, he does not yet possess a jockey’s license for Australia. He is due to meet with racing authorities there on Friday.
Beuzelin’s best season came in 2020 when he finished third on the jockeys’ ladder with 36 winners. That year also marked his first two Group wins: Countofmontecristo’s Group 2 Chairman’s Trophy and Bold Thruster’s Group 3 Silver Bowl win.
His third Group win came with Celavi in the Group 3 Merlion Trophy in 2021. All three horses were trained by the recently-retired Michael Clements, who was a strong supporter of Beuzelin until their relationship soured in 2022.
Since then, support for Beuzelin waned, and the announcement of the closure of racing in Lion City next year further prompted him to look elsewhere for opportunities.
In total, Beuzelin leaves Singapore with a record of 103 wins since his first victorious ride on Universal Empire (now Royal Commander) on August 18, 2019.
