SACRED TONIC, the nine-year-old galloper, has been a consistent runner-up recently but seems poised to end the winning drought in the 1100m Class 4 contest at Kuala Lumpur this Sunday.

SACRED TONIC has secured four successive second-place finishes, the latest one being over 1100m here a fortnight ago. Trained by S Siva, the gelding experienced a slight bump after the start but made a strong finish from midfield, ending 1.25 lengths behind the winner.

SACRED TONIC hasn’t tasted victory since his triumph over Sunday’s track and distance back in June last year. Although dropping back to the ‘B’ division of Class 4 means he will carry more weight, he is long overdue for a win and appears determined to deliver the tonic this time.

Elsewhere, in-form galloper META HILTON appears to be on target for successive wins in the 1400m Victory Treadmills Handicap this Sunday.

After a series of minor placings, META HILTON was finally rewarded for her consistency when she led throughout the 1275m race here on September 24. The six-year-old mare took the lead from barrier 10 and dictated the pace, securing her second victory on the inner track.

META HILTON is in a better starting position this time and will benefit from the 3kg claim made by apprentice AB Riduan.

Bonny Ng to shake the MOnkey off of his back

Four-year-old galloper BIG MONKEY, displaying consistent potential in recent starts, seems poised for a breakthrough in the 1400m Class 5 race at Penang this Saturday.

With eight starts under his belt, BIG MONKEY has placed on two occasions, with his best performance being a third-place finish over the mile here on August 20. Trained by Bonny Ng, the gelding put up a respectable performance, finishing 5th, just 2.25 lengths behind the leader, in his recent race at Ipoh where he raced on the speed.

While BIG MONKEY tends to be a moderate starter, his ability to accelerate quickly has been evident in most of his runs. The gelding appears to be well-positioned to secure his maiden victory for his connections this weekend.
