Singapore racing continues this Saturday, October 14th, featuring a 12-race turf fixture highlighted by the running of the $300,000 Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 1800m.

Star galloper LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO headlines the feature event and is poised to improve on his already brilliant 2023 racing season.

LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO has remained unbeaten from five starts this year, making history by becoming the first horse to win four Group 1 races in a row at Kranji. Most recently, the Daniel Meagher-trained champion claimed the first leg of the Singapore Triple Crown Series – The Group 1 Raffles Cup (1600m) – in emphatic fashion, easily accounting for a similar field under the same racing conditions.

LIM’S KOSCIUSZKO is undoubtedly the best horse at Kranji in recent years, and if he brings his A-game to the track, as he usually does, it is his race to lose. But if he doesn’t, INVINCIBLE TYCOON, MR MALEK, CYCLONE, and BIG HEARTED all have a chance to spring an upset.

Elsewhere, promising four-year-old MT NISEKO looks on track to land his first local win when he contests the $50,000 Class 4 Handicap over 1200m on turf.

Mt Niseko is a horse on the up for trainer Tim Fitzsimmons.

MT NISEKO formerly raced in Australia, where he scored twice from seven starts. The son of I Am Invincible was heavily backed as the odds-on favourite on his local debut four weeks ago, but he simply had no luck that day when enduring a wide trip before being held up from the 400m to the 300m.

Nevertheless, he still found the line well with a solid third over 1100m on the Polytrack. Trained by Tim Fitzsimmons, MT NISEKO has since turned in an impressive trial, and he is suited by switching to turf, as his overseas record suggests. Stripping fitter second-up, he can prove hard to beat in a field without much depth.
